+brian whittle The stupid thing is Casey had a Phantom 3 pro (which isn't that much different) but he didn't use it. It wasn't until he got the Phantom 4 that he started to add daily drone footage....and I don't buy the story it's because the propellers come off easily, the P3 props are easy to take off too.
Has he uploaded any drone footage where he isn't breaking the law? Mexico maybe?
Just watch any Casey vlog, thats all you need to know about this.

It's not yet legal to fly by video only in Canada. You always need to have visual line of sight to the aircraft.

I have a buddy who flies for CBS. he does mostly golf and disc golf, but will be doing an upcoming rally race soon. the FAA registrations are a huge holdup.
It'd be something to look into and if there's a possibility in making money out of it then the hassle could be worth it.

JasonPlays I hadn't seen the Inspire 1 when I posted my comment but yes it is. The Inspire 1 is much better if you get it with the X5 camera, but only if you're getting into aerial photography. Which I am.
Different beasts. Phantom is good as a point/shoot, throw on a back pack etc. The Inspire 1 pro, where you can change lens etc, great tool for Film/TV etc, but twitchy, and a pain to travel with.
If you are looking into getting your first drone and you have never flown before, got a Syma X5 on Amazon, you can get one for under $50 and it's practically indestructible, so you can learn to fly a drone properly on that.
After you have learned to fly, I recommend getting the DJI Phantom 3 Standard which you can get for as low as $450 on Amazon. This drone has a 2.7K camera and a perfect 3-axis stabilization gimbal that will give you footage that is as perfect as the Phantom 4. The video downlink isn't as good, the controller has far less range and it also doesn't have the optical sensors that the P4 does, but it does come with a waypoint mode and return to home if something goes wrong. It is the best value for an aerial photography drone out there, and I am still using a Phantom 1, and if was able to, I would buy a Phantom 3 standard as an UPGRADE to what I have now.

For the object following, couldn't there be a little tracking chip or something, that you could put onto the object you'd want it to follow? Then it would be hard to loose it.

+Unstoppable Pigeon I mean you could. But that wouldn't solve the obstacle issues. That would help tremendously for positional tracking, but if you want it to follow you, or another object at a relatively low distance that won't help with avoiding obstacles or maneuvering.
It could have some pathfinding.
+Unstoppable Pigeon but as for what you're suggesting, using a 'tracking' chip attached to the operator wouldn't allow for pathfinding, unless you had a satalite with live image feed targeted on you (which would be obscenely expensive). pathfinding would only work, if it had line of sight image tracking (which it does now) or if it had details about every little thing surrounding it. which, isn't possible using a GPS chip

the footage difference with the solo was noticeable too. Way more distortion and fisheye on the 3dr

Love my Phantom 2, I'm using 2.4 ghz for the video feed and had to do some soldering but it works well. The wifi solutions offered are terrible, too much interference and other issues to worry about.
Attitude mode is something really worth while and good to learn. Full manual is not as important.
Its also pretty durable, found this out as i crashed it into a tiny tree branch and it spun itself into a larger branch. It only broke 1 prop, and that was from getting it out of the tree, lol. dont buy these things unless you're prepared to crash them at some point, i did and i have many years of experience with RC. GREAT drone, and spot on review linus!

I have Phantom 4. Its fantastic drone, smart as human. I really like it. I wanted to fly with it right now, but i picked my iPad watched some vids and found this. I am recomending Phantom 4 it has a lot of great features.
I used to work at a pawn shop. I bought a dji phantom 3. Dude had never even used it. I got to take it out back and do test flights for two hours. Coolest thing ever.

Good review Linus. Only one tip. Transportation Canada has a list of rules regarding model aircraft & UAV flying including that you must fly 150 metres away from vehicles, buildings, people, etc. Just a tip as you are filming scenes that are violation of the rules (up to $25,000 fine).
