      Beautiful work as always Prince! Just want to clarify: You said you're using 2 mm foam but at 0:10 the foam shows 4mm. Or did you use 2 mm foam for the inside strap, and 4 mm foam for the helmet. Thanks again.

    I work with foam and leather(mostly leather) and I love the designs, but can't always spring for the cost of leather for some pieces. So it is great to see some foam options. I am still very much a beginner in leather and like the idea of making stuff in foam to test the fit and find any areas that are more important to be careful of by doing a low risk trial run.

    Finally! Someone made a berserk helmet for cosplay. It looks so cool. I hope that in the near future you could possibly do the wolf version of the helmet that would be sick. Great video. Saved it in my cosplay playlist.

    Great build Samuel! I think incorporating the foam builds into the channel is very worthwhile! It changes it up for your viewers. I for one am interested in both foam and leather crafting. Thanks for the video!

    A pro tip when working with contact cement: lay some wax paper down on the contact cement on areas you don't want making contact yet. This can prevent stuff from accidentally sticking together. Sometimes, you can't pull it back apart once the two pieces make contact.
    You may also want to do a base of mod podge or plastidip before painting.

    This will help out a lot when i try to do the imperial knight armor suit, hopefully in the future. I had an idea of how to work with foam to get some of the details and designs, but, i wonder if heating up a leather punch and then trying to use it on the foam will wield good results to try to mimic that of the leather?
    I understand using a dremel and a burning tool to get some lines, but as far as the same designs as leather punches go, i wonder if you can just heat the leather punches up to get the same effect on the foam?
    Great work!

      Theres just an enormous density difference between foam and leather, that's the main reason you're able to tool leather because of its fiberous density. I haven't seen any foam that's able to accept impressions like what is possible with leather. Which of course is one of the reasons leather is a primary medium for us.

    Ive worked leather for years as a hobby/side hustle. Never thought to use foam. It got me thinking of different ways i can take advantage of the properties foam has. So what i took away is that pros to foam compared to leather are cost(tools and material) and man hours. Biggest con (even though u never said it) is durability. Thats common sense. Did you run into any other limitations during the crafting process?

    • @Princearmory
      @Princearmory  Před rokem +1

      Foam is great because it is ultra cheap, and ultra fast to work, it's not even a contest. If you add foam clay into the mix you can also get high detail and detail fidelity. However, leather is hands down the more durable option, as well as being more protective for light recreational combat. And by default it's workability for detail through carving, stamping, molding, and modeling are unmatched, if you're willing to 10X the time investment anyway. Which is why our custom works cost a fortune.
