Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a quick look at this Kodiak 13 Inch Hub and Rotor Disc Brake Assembly Set. Now this set is going to allow you to upgrade the brakes on your trailer from drum brakes to disc brakes, so that you can get the superior performance that comes along with having disc brakes on your trailer. This set is going to include two of these brake assemblies, so it will be enough to upgrade a single Dexter axle with the 8,000 pound capacity and the number 42 spindles. Our rotors are 13 inches in diameter, and as you can see, we have the eight on six and a half inch bolt pattern, so these are going to fit your wheels that are 16 inches and larger. Our hub and rotors, as well as our caliper and our caliper mounting brackets are e-coated.
So they're gonna resist rust and corrosion with a 250 to 350 hour salt spray rating. So this is gonna provide adequate rust protection for your campers, car haulers, or utility type trailers. If you're looking to upgrade disc brakes for like a saltwater boat trailer, or a trailer that's gonna be coming into contact with a lot of road salt throughout the year, this probably isn't the best set for you. I'd recommend more of a like a dacromet finish or a stainless steel construction. Those are gonna hold up better in those environments, but if your trailer's not gonna be in those kind of environments, this will do a great job for you.
It'll last a nice, long time. So upgrading your trailer from drum brakes to disc brakes is going to have several different benefits. It's going to dramatically shorten your stopping distance. It's also going to give you a smoother, more controlled ride, so you're not gonna experience that push and pull that you're often experiencing with your drum brakes. We do have the ceramic brake pads here that help to increase your stopping power, and you can't see it, but there is a large two and a half inch diameter stainless steel piston that provides fast, responsive braking for you.
So it is going to be a dramatically improved performance. And in addition to better performance, these are also going to require less maintenance than your drum brakes. So it is gonna help save you time and money over the long run. Having that one piece hub and rotor assembly is going to reduce the chance of uneven rotor wear. And we also have the vented design here that's gonna help dissipate your heat faster to prevent premature brake pad wear.
And then all around these do have a nice high quality automotive grade construction, so they are gonna be very long lasting for you. Now the one caveat with upgrading two disc brakes is that they do require a higher line pressure than your drum breaks. So you wanna make sure that you have a actuator, a brake actuator, and brake lines that are rated for 1500 PSI or higher in order to properly activate your disc brakes. But if you don't already have those, we have them available here at etrailer.com. They are sold separately, obviously, they're not included in this kit. This kit will include the two e-coasted cast iron hub and rotor assemblies with the eight pre-installed five eight inch diameter wheel bolts for each. You're also going to get 16 of these five eights inch zinc plated steel lug nuts to make sure that your wheel stays in place. You'll get the two e-coated cast iron calipers, as well as the two e-coated ductile iron caliper mounting brackets. As you can see these do have the four bolt brake flange configuration, so they are gonna be very easy to get installed on your axle. I do wanna point out, I have these displayed on top here just for balance purposes, but when you actually go to install these, they are gonna be mounted on the side and that side support design puts all the weight on the mounting bracket itself instead of on your bolt, so it's gonna help your bolts last longer. And these are stainless steel caliber mounting bolts, you'll get four of those with this kit. You're also going to have your inner and outer races that are pre-installed. Then you have your inner and outer bearings that will go inside there. And this kit is lubricated with grease so you're gonna get your two grease seals for the inside and then your two easy lube grease caps that have that removable plug there in the center so that you can access your easy lube spindles, pump grease in there very easily in between your regular grease. Packing your bearings, you can pull that out, put some pump some g
