      @@DadBodCEO yes night and day difference, I went back in and did the fan clutch as well because I already had the part but my cooling stack was very plugged with crap

    That cut in the radiator is a thermal expansion relieve. If it wasn't there the radiator would eventually crack from the stress of expanding and contracting.

    Great Video 👍
    I have a LMM and my Edge ECT indicates 185*F. I noted your is only at 165*F. I replaced my defective fan clutch. The coolant bleeder screw is on the top of the thermostat housing. Nice looking truck but I think your air intake is pulling hot engine heat into the intake, this is not helping your overheat issues.
    Thank You for the Great video.

      Yes. I've been told to check into my thermostats as I should be running a little warmer. I know my fan kicks on, as I hear it from time to time when my truck sits for days in the sun. Lol. Maybe I have a bad temp sensor in my fan clutch. May be a good reason to upgrade to the Kodiak one. Thanks for watching!!

      For sure! I can definitely tell it made a difference when towing in the heat. Plus on top of cleaning it, you can put new coolant in it as well.

    Thank you for making the video. Great job! I don’t know if you realize, but your thermostats are stuck open. you’re operating temperature should be up around 185-190°.

    • @xtrodinaryduramax8010
      @xtrodinaryduramax8010  Před rokem +3

      I could see that. Since it got up to 240+ that one day, it has ran cooler when not towing. Then when towing its over heated. Would makes sense that they are sticking or the gaskets on them are going bad.

    • @Jessehermansonphotography
      @Jessehermansonphotography Před rokem +1

      Dealer says 210 is normal temp. Hence why they put it in the middle. A lot of folks say 185-190 but Chevy says 210

    • @xtrodinaryduramax8010
      @xtrodinaryduramax8010  Před rokem +1

      @@Jessehermansonphotography Yup! That's because the engine temp is at 210° right? Because the T Stats open up at 185, so that would give the coolant time to cool off and cool the engine, then cycle back again. I know GM temp guages have just been aesthetically pleasing since for ever. That's why they don't jump up and down as much as monitor do as they give you actual temperature readings.

    I have an 09 that overheats towing 5000 lbs and just paid $3k to have all new water pump thermostats and fan. It runs a little cooler but still over heats. 240 degrees up a grade in 90s ambient temps. I told the shop to clean the stack and they started saying it was the water pump. They never cleaned the stack. It’s hard to find a knowledgeable diesel mechanic.

    • @xtrodinaryduramax8010
      @xtrodinaryduramax8010  Před rokem

      I agree! They just want to throw parts at it and make it easy for them. Having a clean radiator goes for all vehicles. It's a bummer that you had to shell out $3k on your truck.

    • @jamesbrett5010
      @jamesbrett5010 Před rokem +1

      @@xtrodinaryduramax8010 Thanks for the reply. I’m looking at buying an aftermarket radiator and having the mechanic clean the stack and install the new radiator. The new radiator would half upgrade and full on the shop to clean the stack. Any thoughts? The truck has plenty of power I just don’t want to hurt the motor. A head gasket repair is a lot of money. Thanks.

      @@jamesbrett5010 I hear the Banks and Mishimoto radiator are good ones. If you are looking for aftermarket replacements. The GM is also a very good one too. And you will have them clean the A/C coils and the intercooler? With T stats already replaced, that truck will run like new.
