Great game all around. Kirby needed a truly great outing and despite some early command issues he was great tonight going 7 shutty. Raley keeps mashing earning himself playing time even when Canzone is healthy. France got a big insurance blast showing off that new dad power. It would be nice to win tomorrow and take the series so that Wednesday's get away day doesn't need to be stressful
Can not afford to throw games away just because a series was already won, but that appears to be a Scott Servais specialty. 54% is not good enough to make the playoffs.
The Mitchs are getting benched when Canzone and Crawford are back. Moore and Raley are outplaying both by a mile.
@@silverbane1977 Failing in both English comprehension as well as Math. Impressive. I never once said to just hand the game away. The goal in every series is simply to win it. In a 3 game series that means taking 2 out of 3 games. Would taking all 3 be nice? Sure. It's not a must have, and it's not easy. Now I presumed 2 out of 3 would be an easy math problem to solve, but apparently not for you. That's 66%. 66% is really good. That's 108 wins. If you get mad at 108 wins, you have problems and need to seek professional help.
To the last point, 54% very well could be good enough to make the playoffs. The D-Backs made the World Series last year after winning 51.9% of their games. The goal isn't 54% in one season, it never has been. Thinking that further demonstrates your misunderstanding of the English language.

I liked it when the umpire on the reversed SB call couldn’t bring himself to say “the call is overturned, the runner is out”. Just said, “the runner is out”. 😂
I don't know if anyone at MLB reads these comments, but can you PLEASE stop spoiling games in the thumbnails. Some of us don't live in the US and we can only watch games like this and it's literally every game spoiled before I watch a single pitch

@@r4643 Stanek's stuff looks phenomenal still. Slider may be a bit hangy, true, but for the MOST part he forced quite a bit of weak contact this game. You can't win 'em all.

I was pretty amazed at how bad the outfield defense for the Royals. I was sitting in close to the right field and those two dudes were less than amazing. They have good hitters but need to improve on the outfield.

This Mariners bullpen scares me. Especially Stanek.
Stanek is the only one that worries me every time out. Seattle needs to get a decent arm for the pen, send him to their "school", and convert him to a backend master like they have with so many others. That was made necessary by Brash going under the knife and Santos having a little setback. They have quality arms, but they need at least one guy who has the high leverage backend mentality that can partner with Munoz.

Is it just me or should the runner have been safe at 1st at 8:26? The ball made contact with the glove in time but the 1st baseman didn't have actual possession yet as the ball is moving.

The fielding this year has been particularly bad (the hitting is obviously getting there too) - he has actually given teams free runs with his defense.
He and Julio don't seem to work well together. Can't wait for Canzone to get back, I'd like to see him take over for Hani out there and then DH Hani. He can't do as badly as Garver...

@clashbrosss1437 Actually tied for the Major League record, but all alone for the American League record. Still mighty impressive, isn't it. The standard has long been "every team will win 54 games, every team will lose 54 games. The difference is what you do with that other 54 games." That year Seattle lost 46 games. That made them 8 games better than that standard maximum which would be at 108.

It was ball 4 anyway. Honestly, I think he was trying to take it off of the arm pad because Salvy recently got hit on the hand trying to get out of the way of a pitch, and he's had enough hand injuries in the past. Personally, I'd rather see him take it off the pad than our Captain get injured.
