Considering an instrumental for this song is available, it should be very close to completely accurate. Hopefully you enjoy! (:

So much of this song on piano sounds just like other Queen songs. I heard Bohemian Rhapsody, We Are The Champions, Killer Queen, and a little bit of Love Of My Life. Freddie Mercury usually uses a lot of the same chords in his songs.

What I love about this piano is it's made by Freddie, who also made Bohemian Rhapsody and the piano melodies are very much similar and it came out about 10 years since the release. It's A Hard Life: July 6, 1984. Bohemian Rhapsody: October 31, 1975

    I don't want my freedom
There's no reason for living with a broken heart
    This is a tricky situation
I've only got myself to blame
It's just a simple fact of life
It can happen to any one
    You win, you lose
It's a chance you have to take with love
Oh yeah, I fell in love
But now you say it's over and I'm falling apart
    Yeah yeah
    It's a hard life
    To be true lovers together
To love and live forever in each others hearts
    It's a long hard fight
To learn to care for each other
To trust in one another right from the start
    When you're in love
I try and mend the broken pieces
Oh, I try to fight back the tears
Oh, they say it's just a state of mind
    But it happens to everyone
How it hurts (yeah) deep inside (oh yeah)
When your love has cut you down to size
Life is tough on your own
Now I'm waiting for something to fall from the skies
    I'm waiting for love
    Yes it's a hard life
    Two lovers together
To love and live forever in each others hearts
    It's a long hard fight
To learn to care for each other
To trust in one another right from the start
    When you're in love
    Yes it's a hard life
In a world that's filled with sorrow
There are people searching for love in every way
    It's a long hard fight
But I'll always live for tomorrow
I'll look back at myself and say I did it for love (oh)
Yes I did it for love
    For love
Oh I did it for love

Does someone else noticed that some parts are recycled from Bohemian Rhapsody and Good ol fashioned lover boy?

    • @nomecognome4940
      @nomecognome4940 Před 11 měsíci

It's 'cos they're in the same key (E-flat major/C minor). In the end, chords you can get out of a scale aren't a lot. Obviously some would feel recycled. It's yet beautiful like this.

  • @olive3024
    @olive3024 Před rokem

Anyone feels this one is like Bohemian Rhapsody: That's because the main key/scale of the two numbers is the same, here they are both in B-flat major. Because I can hear the 'do' in both numbers is the same note, and I find a piano to test out that the note here is Bb. Usually I wouldn't bother to find what the exact note it is, thus to find what the exact scale it is, because a song you can put it in C major or F major or others, it's still the exact same song, the relationship between any two notes are still the same. And Freddie here could put this number higher, like to B, or lower, like to A, people wouldn't feel it's alike to BoRhap at all.
And here I want to show maybe you can understand the chords like this, with the example of the section of the video from 0: 18 to 1: 28.
For simplicity we only pay attention to the left-hand sounds, the lower sounds here, and '~' represents the beats.
    ① do~~~do~~~do~so~la~~~fa~mi~re~~~do~~~do~~~fa~mi~re~la~fa~mi~re~la~la♯~~~
(Now note there's the la♯ / ti♭, appearing, which doesn't belong to the current key/scale, but actually, according to the Circle of Fifths, with the note of la♯ / ti♭ appearing, we can think that the key here has changed from C major to F major, what that means is now we treat fa as do, so as re, la as mi, la♯ as fa, and so on. So instead of "la~la♯~~~", I'm gonna use mi~fa~~~)
    ② do~~~do~~~do~so~la~~~fa~mi~re~~~do~~~do~~~fa~mi~re~la~fa~mi~re~mi~fa~~~re~~~so~ti~
(Now so~ti~, here I myself want to treat it as do~mi~, that is to say I treat so as do, and according to the Circle of Fifths, I actually go back to the original key in ①. What I mean is like this:
in ①: do re mi fa so la ti
in ②: so la ti do re mi fa
and now here, because now I treat the so as do now. it becomes:
do re mi fa so la ti, so exactly the original key.)
    ③ do~~~do~~~do~so~la~~~fa~mi~re~~~do~~~do~~~fa~mi~re~la~fa~mi~re~mi~fa~~~re~~~do~mi~fa~do~fa~do~so la la♯ ti do~
(Note here the sequence of semitones, from so going up with semitones, then finally back to the tonal center which is do. It's calculated and beautiful.)
    ③ do~~~do~~~do~so~la~~~fa~mi~re~~~do~~~do~~~fa~mi~re~la~fa~mi~re~mi~fa~~~re~~~do~mi~fa~do~fa~do~so la la♯ ti do~mi~fa~do~fa~do~so~~~fa~~~
What is alike? I'll put examples of today's songs, most of which are always 4 chords iterating through the whole song, and the 4 chords are not innovative, e.g. many of them keep using la~fa~do~so, or: fa~so~la~mi, etc, just pay attention to the bass sounds, they can be easy to notice. That is called similar chords progression.
And Freddie's songs, not only he will use all the basic chords existing, and diffenrent forms of the them, and different rhythm patterns of them, one most prominent feature of his writing is he likes to change keys, like the demonstration above, and every other place where you feel it's a bit strange is where he changes a bit of keys, and then he comes back to the original key, or the main key of the song, without notice. I believe there's more interesting things in the right hand, and the remains of the song. And of course BoRhap is not alike to this one, which has more complicated key changings, and the chords progression of which is not the same too.
