The biggest factor in cost is where they live. Rural and overseas make things much more affordable.
Right but the most interesting thing is that he didn't value his time like the other composers. Yes, geography probably plays a role, but that's the part I find fascinating. Best study of this would be to analyze the same composers over multiple types of compositions. Looking at speed to completion, variety, and style. That's a fascinating video!

2 years late to the party but damn that $75 guy REALLY set the bar, nobody else came close to it. It FELT like a legit piece you'd see in a game for a boss fight. It's the only one of the video that I went back to to listen to several times. There is a saying that you get what you pay for, and brothers and sisters $75 guy fucking PROVIDED.

The first few seconds on that $75 composition is like realizing that *you're still not over* , up to the buildup and beatdrop. That was so badass and is honestly very suitable for a boss fight.

The $75 one was worth every cent. Dude was definitely HYPED to record and nailed it! The $110 was also an insane arrangement. Very much a Danny Elfman influence and some very FANTASIA-esque choices in the backing.

I put this guy at #1. His arrangement brought all the instruments up TO the piano without overwhelming it. A true impresario! It was full and complex without being arrogant. I loved it!

There was this one guy who wrote an arrangement for the *entire* orchestra. Really went above and beyond by writing three additional movements! Really amazing and innovative music. His name was Ludwig van something or other.

Okay, I absolutely agree with the final ranking. I know the 75$ guy absolutelly KILLED it, but I just have a soft spot for the violin with the 300$ one. It was done beautifully and matched the melody perfectly. But that said, $75 guy was absolutely worth the price too. Loved both. He should definitely rise the price. He's worth a lot more.

the original 5th Symphony, $75, and $300, would go great together in a movie series, as the person laying down the foundations for the movie would play the original 5th Symphony. The $75 would play in the middle of the trilogy, and the $300 and $75 would play in a mashup of them both would play in the ending of the trilogy would represent the better and more so “improved” thing or final boss battle, as it represents how it started with the villain wrecking the city, and how in the ending the more refined peoples would play out their more refined plans and moves in such a way that could never “top” the original plan, but improve on it.

Nicolaschazarre, the $75 one, was the best by far. His arrangement best matched your playing and the nature of the piece itself. It was the best one that worked WITH your track rather than against it. You're entitled to your opinion, and maybe some of the others sounded more professional in technical quality, but musically this was the best choice, imo.

I think there are two different elements of “quality” to look at here:
1) Quality of the sound engineering, which in my opinion did mostly increase with price. The higher priced ones sounded cleaner to me.
2) Quality of the ideas for accompanying your piece - this is the one that I don’t think increased so much with price. Some of the cheaper options seemed more creatively inspired by the task you asked of them.
I agree with you that the $300 one was overall the best work. Fair play to all of them though - they all felt like solid efforts, nobody who I think is ripping people off.

Suggestion: When you do this sort of thing, randomize the results before listening so you don't know who's work you are listening to. This removes any bias by knowing how much you paid and is also a nice game to gues which is which.

Just went and compared it to the $300 back to back. The $75 blows it out of the water IMO. The drop is so much better. The build up so much smoother. It lets the piano shine when it’s supposed to, and adds more when necessary to keep it interesting. It’s really, really good.

What I loved is that you ordered Betthoven's arrangement and your reaction listening to it. Grew up never having a soul nearby who would share my feelings about his music.
$75 one is the perfect match to Beethovens 5th. Because they went with lower tones and that base, it just amplified how dark and visceral the symphony is while also having a matching complexity. Every beat and melody melded so perfectly but neither overpowered the other.

Agreed, piano and arrangement was best on that one. All but one fell on the face on the percussion IMO. Cept JMP who nailed it on the EDM style requested here - and also was the most expensive.
To be fair to the dude with the $10,000 package, I feel like 10 grand for 90 minutes of custom music for a movie/film soundtrack is a steal *if he's good*

I have heard the $300 by Wileywest, $75 by Nicolaschazarre, and the $110 by Philippkraetzer on Spotify.
I like to imagine Beethoven seeing what people were doing with his music 200 years later. While I don't know what he'd think of modern music, I trust that a craftsman will recognize craftsmanship, and I think he'd find it very cool to see how people are able to transform his work in new ways.
I agree with you 💯. As funny as it sounds, classical music had a "rock concert" type of vibe back when the conposers were alive and pushing the envelope. I think he'd embrace the experimentation whole heartedly if he was able to hear it.
I agree totally. If you listen to very late works of Beethoven, such as the Grosse Fuge, you can sense something very strange there, like the composer went so far ahead with his ideas that even today we still have a hard time understanding what he wanted to do, and in his lifetime there were critics stating they were unlistenable. However, when Schubert, one of the most dedicated fans of Beethoven, was in his deathbed, he requested a score of just one of these last pieces from the master.
I like to think the purists find this sagrilegious whereas Beethoven would have loved it.

I think what impressed me most about the Nicolaschazarre piece was that it kept you engaged the WHOLE time. You had no idea what he was bringing next. As a gamer and a musician I nearly stood up when he hit that drop. 75 dollars??? That human needs a bonus!

That Pieter Pim one sent shivers down me. There was just something with his drops that were really pleasing. Remixing is not easy at all. I am a newbie DJ and the amount of work and the programs I know these musicians are having to use is incredibly costly. But knowing what I know of DJing and stuff, I can be bother harsh and lenient when listening to other's music (while knowing and appreciating how much I have to grow to get on their level). But some of the lower cost ones were really amazing and were pieces I'd love to borrow for sets of my own when I play gigs and need to throw in other remixes to pad my own mixes as I work on building up my own library.
Plot twist: The guy MusicalBasics hired was no other than Beethoven himself, Beethoven just revived himself for the sake of content.

First video of yours and I am subbed. Not even finished watching the vid and am amazed by the sheer skill these producers have! I am not even 25 and am amazed! Beethoven is an absolute legend for his skill and these remixes (I’ve seen so far) really do make it feel like one of his descendants remade his music! You have to view it from their point of view as well. Many people on Fiverr undercharge their work. Just think about it. They have to pay taxes as well. I don't know how long it takes to produce a song like that but if you charge $75 for it then you can not work on it more than two hours or it is not worth it. Being self employed you have to calculate a lot different than people that work a normal 9 to 5 job.

14:06 I love the fade-down at the beginning, going straight into a drum-and-bass build to a silent-moment then dubstep drop, with the incredible strings complementing everything so well. Basically the piano became 5% of the song by that point, but amazing.

The 180K model was my favorite for tonal quality and overall sound. But sometime price reflect much more than playability and sound. The heritage and sometimes the spirts of owners past that dwell within can inspire the player and you certainly sounded inspired.
I have to agree, the $300 one was my favourite. When the violin cut through it gave me goosebumps, that's when I know the music just hits different. Incredibly well done.

So… I’ll probably get some backlash for this but as someone who played in orchestra through school and still plays my violin as an adult, I have to say that 8:33 Phillip, gave me chills, in an orchestra specific way. Like I could have heard that composition at the Kennedy center or in Star Wars, like it included the whole orchestra. The $75 one was amazing in a soloist standpoint though, and freaking incredible for that price point. This is just my two cents. But I’m a fan and subbing now! PS your piano skills are amazing. :)
Yes! His one was my favorite, followed by Nicholas. I think Nicholas probably lacked a little bit in the sound quality, but he captured the music really really well. Phillip had great sound quality, I loved the style as well.
