    I am so happy to see this clip. I always wondered what show they were on when they performed this. Foster did a great job! Love the Sylvers!

    Quite a few folks believe they are wannabes, but NO WAY; the Sylvers a a class unto themselves. Man, it would've been great if they could've toured together, singing their hits and done some TV shows and collobos ..... epic!!!

    • @charj1108
      @charj1108 Před 8 lety +3

      yup, There was an interview where Foster says during the airing of the unsung ep. that they were supposed to go on your together and were on your with each other for 3 days. When people the promoters saw the sylvers were selling out their set and the Jackson's weren't, Joe talked to some promoters and next thing thd y know they're off that tour. SMH

      @@melvinmoore3949 I think they said they did, but it seems like it was not at the scale of others. I'm glad they had the opportunity to seen and heard. Waaaaaaay too talented to be ignored.

    So glad that at my older age I can still admire and fall in absolute love with the Sylvers all over again. Well I always loved them but it’s different now because I see, hear and feel them through more mature senses. Just love their awesome choreography and just to watch them perform, period. The Sylvers were just one awesome, gifted group of gorgeous siblings!

    The Sylvers was not a Jackson 5 wannabe group they were much more than that. Even The Jacksons ( especially Michael ) recognize this. At the Motown 25 taping Michael Told Edmund sylvers that he and brothers scared them whem they first came out. They just that good!!! The sylvers also had Motown shaking in their shoes. they were analyzing their records, songwriting and harmonies. The Sylvers WERE NOT Jackson 5 wannabees

      I never knew that their parents were on television before them and I really enjoyed seeing that it's amazing theme from the 1950s how talented they really were as small small children!

      That’s. Damn lie ...watching all of this shows while they were a fun group to watch they’re really no comparison and not on the Jacksons levels ...the songs weren’t that good either ...the numbers don’t lie

    Amazing discourse...both groups were dynamic. Doesn't matter who came 1st. Talent is talent. It will shine through no matter the era. So give me a break on the whole chicken and egg thing! The Jacksons/Sylvers. Why can't we just enjoy what these groups left as their legacy? I for one appreciate what they shared with us.

    And then there is the fact that the Sylvers were performing professionally around 1960, opening for the likes of Ray Charles and Johnny Mathis. That's about 7 or 8 years before the Jackson boys were even discovered.

    • @DJWOLFLIVE
      @DJWOLFLIVE Před 5 lety +1

      WayneInSF FACTS. Maybe it was the J5 copying the Sylvers. BTW, the The Debarge family also pre dated the J5 professionally when they were also well known around the early 60s too.

    My mother said that the Jacksons were having internal drama like um Jermaine Jackson getting married and staying with Motown while the rest of the guys went over to EPIC, the last thing they were worrying or caring about were the Sylvers group. Another thing is Michael Jackson was A Jehovah's Witness when the Sylvers group were making their hits.
