    We purchased an older home that, I kid you not, has a major issue with every drawer - from kitchen to bathroom. One set in the kitchen is exactly like the example you made here in the video, with each drawer having a different style of runner. I was feeling really overwhelmed on which runner to use where. You explained everything so well, and now I have a better understanding of what to use when and where. Much appreciated!

      Hi Tony! Thanks for your kind comments. We try to create videos which are not only informative but also professionally presented, lit, shot, and edited. Some of our videos actually do have a sneak peak behind the scenes. We use a variety of lighting setups depending on the location and the nature of the video. Some have employed only natural light and others are lit entirely with LED panels. There are sometimes as many as four cameras in use, and LED lighting is the most common light source. A Rode microphone on a boom provides the sound.
      There are plenty more videos to come Tony, so stay tuned! Thanks again for your kind comments.

    Very informative video.
    Is it possible to install the soft closing runners in a groove? Have a chest of heavy drawers that runs on a groove and wooden guide rails. The gap on either side is just 5mm, so the soft closing ones wouldn't fit right away. I was thinking of widening the groove with a router and be able to accomodate most of the new runners within the groove. Have no woodworking experience whatsoever so pardon my stupidity if thats happens to be the case.

    This may be a dumb question but... can the heavy duty slides be used for a door application rather than a drawer? I want to make a half high dog door for my basement stairs and thought of using slides instead of hinges. The opening is 30in so i was thinking of getting 32in full extension slides for some wiggle room. Will this work? I didn't know if the door will fall off since it's not being contained by the cabinet.

    There are other restrictions aren't there ie drawers can't be wider than the actual drawer slide to work properly. Is this the case for all drawer slides, because the ones I recently bought does have that limitation, which I didn't know about, until I read the instructions. Are there drawer slides that can be used for very wide drawers, but with a shallower depth? (depth, as in measurement of drawer from front to back)

  • @dankollars4501

    i would use only the third glide, soft close dont last, and the last glide shown take an inch of space from the depth of the drawer. just my opinion after installing thousands of drawers.

    My question is how to disconnect so the whole drawer can come out. Think the ones similar to what I have were the 3rd and 4th drawer. They seem to have a plastic crescent that does not seem to have a mechanism to release so the cabinet can completely slide out. I need to retighten the screws on the right rail that came loose and only way to get to it is remove the entire drawer. There has to be some release mechanisms I am not seeing. Have some others that have a little lever that push up or down depending on which side of the drawer you are releasing. However, I cannot find or see the lever on the bigger cabinet drawer slide. Suggestions? Help please . Thank you

  • @boxsterman77
    @boxsterman77 Před 4 lety +4

    Thanks for the compact primer. I've been needing this. One comment though: It seems hard to believe that a constraining attribute of a specific type of drawer hardware is color. The budget drawers ONLY come in white? The light-duty drawer runners may be more appealing because they come in black--only black. Why is this? What would happen to the mechanism of a budget drawer if it were painted black. Would it disintegrate? Spontaneously combust? Is it against the law to paint them any color but white. It really doesn't make much sense.

    I have a confusing question.
    I wanted to setup a sliding table underneath my desk for my musical keyboard. I already have a table, but the only wood on it is on the surface(the sides are rectangular metal pipes).
    I wanted to ask. Is it possible to mount a drawer runner underneath the wooden table. My keyboard is hardly 6kgs. Have to consider the wooden planks weight and my hands which can be resting sometimes on it when playing. The side of my table are metal and are in a sort of Offset I-shape pattern.

    • @polerin
      @polerin Před 4 lety +1

      Generally how I see this done is mounting the slides on two wings that extend downward from the table top. There are even kits that do this, and if you don't like the plastic tray, you could probably cut a wooden one to replace it.
