There has never been a South Korean NBA or G league player and the only well know mixed Filipino NBA player is Jordan Clarkson who isn't even allowed to play. Their best Filipino prospect, Kai Sotto, have yet to enter the 2022 NBA draft. If the last FIBA cup showed anything it was that having Yuta, Rui, and Baba, a few good players, won't win games, you need good defense and a well balance team with overseas experience.

    • @ahjess768
      @ahjess768 Před 3 lety +2

      Yes Japan really has improved compared to the last FIBA World Cup and the best part is basketball isn't as heavily supported financially and locally in Japan compared to Football and Baseball. Their improvement is mainly due to the players' NBA dreams (Yuta & Rui) and playing in G league, NBL, and Euro league.
      This is why other Asian teams are falling behind, you have to put down your ego and settle for whatever role you can get overseas if you want to reach a higher ceiling in your skills. China wasted so much money in the CBA and hasn't churned out even 1 full season NBA bench player or starter since Yao Ming. Most CBA players run back to their country cause they can't stand playing as role players with barely any minutes. What they don't get is that you can't expect to get rid of bias against Asian players and be respected until you show your skills. Guys like Yuta Watanabe on the other hand doesn't care if he's a starter or bench player, he just wants to play in the NBA and get better. It's exactly why after football/soccer, and baseball, Japan will become one of the best in basketball on the world stage.
