Hi Balkan, just a heads up on timber framed construction, this method is also used extensively in Canada, Australia and New Zealand. It's very effective in earthquake regions. As long as the timber is treated for external use and for termite resistance it's good to go. Timber also has good thermal resistance, stores carbon and easy to work with. Certain modern timber systems like CLT and LVL are really strong and has sufficient char ratings as to meet most fire ratings too. Keep up the exceptional content mate. Cheers

Thanks Balkan.. learned a lot. Just a heads-up.. when designing location of wooden elements, you want to keep in mind the dimension of standard sheet products (like plywood or drywall, etc), and place wooden element so that the sheet products will start/end on the mid-points of the element so the sheet ends are all firmly attached and aligned. Even if you're not using sheet products, you want to use standard spacing to finishers can easily predict location of structure. In stick-frame construction, opening are cut-out/framed-in after the fact.. This seems like a hybrid of timber and stick-frame.

Imperial system is best :) the distribution of the studs is important since plywood come precut in 4'x8' standard. Also, the stud is a standard height precut, there are two versions, the 96" & 120", depends on the height of the walls. I worked in construction for a year and my brother was the head of the group who would would build the house based on provided drawings & specification, he was no engineer but could have been easily. He would build single and two floor mansions.
