FACTS
If you think mac and cheese is soup, you're putting way too much milk or water in it.
But theres no broth so it wouldnt be considered soup it could be soupy but not soup and if you put too much water it would be mac and cheese sauce
Those people are just psychopaths.
Yeah like the cheese is coating the pasta. Its not like a cheddar and broccoli soup where its more liquid. Its coating the pasta.
it's a soup because melted cheese is a liquid
Chelsea is always so effortlessly funny and delightful.
Also, Krischelle and Jeannie make quite the fun team. You can really tell they feel comfortable around one another. Cool!

There is a difference between the noun "soup" and the adjective "soupy." Lots of things that aren't soup can be soupy, but not all soupy things are soup. *Soup contains broth.* Added to that is food that is either puréed or cut into chunks. (For the sake of brevity, I'm including stock as a broth.) The broth has to be vegetable, bone, or meat (including seafood meats) based. Milk is not a broth.
The broth can have things _added_ to it to thicken it up, like cream, flour, butter, puréed foods, et cetera, but a *soup* cannot be missing the broth. Melted ice cream, macaroni & cheese, traditional chili, and cereal in milk do not contain broth. Hence, they are not soup. You can argue that melted ice cream is a sauce, but it is not soup. The cheese sauce in mac & cheese is a _sauce_ - so, if your mac & cheese is soupy (there's that adjective), you're failing at mac & cheese.
this is the most detailed and well thought out argument about food i've ever seen. well done đđđ

Faith: Noodles are not a soup
Danny: What about chicken noodle soup?
Faith:
Danny: Checkmate :)
Ramen and pho are literally classified as noodle soup dishes, so they are both a noodle dish and a soup dish. A food can fall into more than one category.
Mmmm noodle soup
i agree with you on the part where both are soups, but i would like to point out that noodle soup is only soup that features noodles; noodles is just the word used to describe the soup. because udon is another "noodle soup" dish, but is only classified as udon because of the noodles, and not necessarily the soup aspect.
The whole time they were eating ramen, all I kept saying was "IT'S IN THE SOUP AISLE"
So true.
For me, the generalization of âsoupâ is when the ingredients are cooked in liquid, and the liquid is served with it.
Mac n Cheese strains out the water before adding in milk and other ingredients.
Ice cream can be called soupy in texture, but I donât know how it is prepared.
Cereal isnât prepared with the milk. But Oatmeal is straddling the line.
IMO it has to be hot to be considered a soup.
JC Maldonado A Bisque is a soup. As is Gazpacho.
Cooked might not be the best word when applied to cold soups, since most people immediately infer the use of heat. But the ingredients do need preparation, and usually ice or prep time in the fridge.
Chelsea is so adorable. "So we can try it with no consequence".....lol
To put it simply: Soup is an upgraded broth-based dish or component of a dish.
1. Ramen is basically noodles and soup. So Yes.
2. Chili is basically tomato and pepper soup with beans and meat. So Yes but it could be categorized more for a sauce.
3. Stew IS a soup. The difference is that it is heated for a longer period of time.
4. Mac and cheese aint a soup. Its just cheese sauce
5. Gspacho is Literally defined as Cold Tomato Soup. So Yes.
6. Melted Ice cream aint soup. And technically its not even proper food coz Ice Cream is only served frozen.
7. Cereals is NOT soup. It's literally just Milk.
Remus Osias I agree with you
on the money. these are all correct. chili is usually a soup, but doesnt have to be. ramen is usually a soup, but doesnt have to be either. gaspacho is a tough one however. tomatoes are fruit, not vegetabels. u do not HAVE to put meat or veg stock in, but most ppl do
Remus Osias I would consider chili more of a stew
@@febelpancake well, i hate to break it to you, but according to that definition, its a soup. chili can, has, and is served as a stand alone dish, so its not a dip. it is a meat based broth mixed with beans, meat and veggies. thats the definition of a soup. i think the biggest problem is not all of these foods are made the same way. u can make ramen with almost no liquid.. or u can make chili that has very little liquid, so i guess it depends.
mark kay Chili meets the criteria of being a stew more so than a soup.
Stew is defined as a combination of solid food ingredients cooked in liquid and served in a gravy. Whereas in soup, meat is boiled within the stock or water that is used as a base. Soup needs stock and chili doesnât
Me: Is this argument even necessary?
Also Me: Thatâs soup... That oneâs soup too...Thatâs also soup
*"Now that I've added the milk to the cereal tell me, is that milk now a beverage, a broth, or a sauce? Answer carefully Mr. Johnson, your wife's life depends on it."*
All of the above. Obviously
All of you misunderstood the meaning of soup. Soup is a flavored liquid typically with bits of solid meat or vegetables. Soup can be eaten by itself or can combine with other element such as rice or noodle to form a new dish. Ramen is a dish which combines soup and noodles. Porridge is a combination of soup and rice.
Can I just say how much I love the pairing of people in this episode. Beautifully done. They play off each other and so fun to watch.

He was hilarious during the entire episode, of course, but Chelsea was really funny too.
Soup has to have a stock, which is a liquid base or broth made from vegetables or animal PARTS, and milk isnât a physical part of the animal, its something the animal produces. With out a stock, you canât have a soup so cereal isnât a soup.
There are cheese soups
right. until vegan/keto people came along and try to pass off savory smoothies as 'soup', soups must be cooked. even gazpacho or vichyssoise are cooked, blended, then cooled. there is no cold brewed 'soup'. albeit you can steep dried mushrooms or dried kelp to make stock. it still requires hot water to start.
Tomato soup. I just destroyed your entire reasoning( lol Iâm jk). And yes, youâre right cereal is not a soup, but thatâs because without milk itâs still cereal and the milk isnât mixing with anything else. To be qualified as soup, something must be cooked to become soup, even if itâs served cold later, stew is also too thick to be soup, though itâs quite close
5:27 Oh that's just adorable!!! Troy should like have the FBE cast try out new dishes he made and you guys should film their reactions.
technically, ramen is eaten with chopsticks so đ
Chelsea with the hard hitting questions: "So we can try it with no consequences?"
DAMN IT LADY!!! RAMEN NOODLES IS A SOUP!! đ„đ„đ„
If we're getting technical, cereal would be a chowder because it's dairy based (cereal is not a chowder). Stew is not soup because it's thickened to a gravy. Chili is a beef and tomato stew. Melted ice cream is a beverage, per my mother. Ramen is a soup, she just had the wrong utensils.
Melissa Young I agree with you
Where I'm from stew is considered soup. Thick soup is a very common thing plus according to the definition its a soup
Not too sure about chilli though since Ive never had it
My mom is Mexican and she says âhaste una sopaâ (make yourself a soup) when she wants me to make ramen
Tambien le dicen sopa al arroz... Well atleast here in Guadalajara
4:53 it was at this moment that I realized that kid was on Jr master chef!!!! OMG he grew up so fast I didnât even recognized him!!!!!!
Hearty stuff like chili is NOT a soup....itâs a STEW! Stews contain a gravy base. Soup contains a broth/stock base.
Melted ice cream is CREAM & sugar. âđœđ€
Say it louder for the ppl in the back
"The ramen broth is boring" lol, the broth is the soul of a ramen, it is boring just because the chef made it boring.
I could eat a bowl of ramen broth all by itself.
The funny thing about 1:50 is that while that discussion was going on I was googling Ramen in my native language because I never had it, and the only way I could get the food results was through "ramen soup". So google decided for me.
If your Mac & Cheese is watery, you f'd up.
Thatâs the best part đ I would make it and call it Mac and soup
And my mom would always be disappointed
Correct me if I'm wrong, but if you had chicken in the ramen wouldn't it pretty much be just a Japanese version of chicken noodle soup. Like to me ramen is just a type of soup with noodles in it.
It's pretty much like saying that Cheeseburger is "Meat". Technically
, ramens is a meal with noodles, broth and extras like ham, eggs, chicken etc.
Mistakes come from the lack of word describing different soup-like meals. In France, we have 11 words for soup, not joking ;)
The packaging literally says soup on it. It is very much the cheap, unhealthy version of Japanese noodle soup
Soup = a flavoured liquid with bits of vegetables, meat or other solids.
Stew = is something (typically meat or vegetables) which are cooked in a flavoured liquid.
All stews are soups, but not all soups are stews. Kinda like all BBQ is grilling but not all grilling is BBQ.
Stews are usually more thick than soups
@@JoJo-pe4le Stew is anything you stewed, it's a cooking method. If you serve the whole stew together then it's a soup.
SteaMed = cooked in a moist condition.
SteWed = cooked in a wet condition.
Roasted = cooked in a dry condition.
Them: You canât eat noodles with spoon!
Me and authentic asian laughing in the background: Hah! Pathetic.
What asian eats noodles with spoon? I get it that we eat it with spoon and chopsticks of fork but just spoon?

Cereal without milk is still cereal. Therefore, cereal is not soup. Also, your beef stew was more of a beefy soup. Beef stew typically has a thicker gravy like consistency would not be a soup.
I don't get your logic. What about noodle soup without the liquid? It's just noodles, but it doesn't mean that noodlesoup istn't a soup lol.
Beef stew and Cereal (with milk) would still be considered as âSoupâ by definition.
âA liquid food especially with meat, fish or vegetable broth as a base and often containing pieces of solid foodâ
Cereal:
Liquid Food âïž (Milk)
Solid Food âïž (Cereal)
Beef Stew:
Liquid Food âïž (The broth being a more thick gravy-like consistency would not invalidate it as it is still a liquid food)
Solid Food âïž (Meat, Vegetables)
@@celaya-s4e151 noodle soup without the liquid is just noodle. It's not soup anymore
Definition of Soup: a liquid dish, typically savoury and made by boiling meat, fish, or vegetables etc. in stock or water.
If ramen is not soup, what is chicken noodle soup?
TheDooDooBerry with a soda on the side
đđđ
That's different! Lol
Ok folks this is what defines what soup is.
1) It has to be based from a stock foundation. Stock is made by by simmering meats or vegetables in water to create it. Melted Dairy or Milk is not Stock. Milk is the very first protein substance that all female mammals make to feed their young. It is a mammary gland discharge that is edible. It is not stock. If some one argues that milk came from a cow and so does beef broth, that there is no difference. Ask them what part of the cow do you have to simmer to make milk broth. Melted Ice cream and soggy cereal with milk is not soup. Those are just tragic.
2) A stew is not soup. The difference? Thickness and cohesion of ingredients. If the base stock is no longer drinkable, then it is now a stew. As in you can't just pick up the bowl and drink it, or use a straw to drink it (bad manner aside). If the base stock and ingredients are now irrevocably inseparable, that is now a stew. Cream of Mushroom, potato soups and the like maybe inseparable once cooked, however they are still soup as you could just put them in a mug and drink it. Chili and beef stew is not a soup. You cannot drink chili or beef stew. If someone tells you that they can drink a stew or their chili, then eww that ain't stew or chili. They're drinking gravy.
Melted ice cream is a milkshake

All stews are soups, but not all soups are stews.
Melted ice cream is just cream and is no longer Ice Cream. Therefore, ice cream is not a soup, but cream is.
Cereal is NOT a soup I repeat NOT a soup
2:01 omg they scarred her đđđđ
Cereal is not soup, it's literally it's own category. Ramen packaging says Noodle Soup on it, so it counts as a soup, and yes you sure as hell can eat ramen with a spoon. Chili is normally sold in the soup aisle and listed under soups on menus so it's technically a soup. Stew is a subcategory of soup, sort of. Mac & Cheese is a pasta dish, not a soup. Melted ice cream is exactly that. Gaspacho is a type of soup. To me, soup is a hot food usually in a beef or chicken broth with some kind of vegetables and noodles mixed in, but vegetables aren't always part of it like classic noodle soup.
I eat my ramen with a spoon like a psychopath
A soupâs âbroth/liquidâ is made of water.
Mac & Cheese, melted Ice cream, and Cereal with Milk are not made by water. So theyâre not a soup.
Others are definitely a soup. The only debatable one is Chili because itâs too thick to be considered a soup... idk, I wouldnât consider it a soup personally.
@@RulerHand I wouldn't consider eating ramen with a spoon to be something a psychopath would do, but I guess it is outside the norms.
@@Ahmed-pf3lg Yes the broth is made from water, but it's slightly thicker due to the beef or chicken flavoring mixed with the water. But I agree otherwise.

When answering these you should probably ask yourself "if this was served as Soup of the day at a restaurant, would I be surprised/think it was weird/unexpected?"

So is nobody going to tell faith that you're supposed to eat ramen with chopsticks? It's not meant for just a spoon. It's also a soup.
