[Vancouver] Fire at Construction Site in Snow! (Responses & On Scene)

On February 12th 2019, Vancouver Fire & Rescue Services responded to a structure fire at a construction site on Pacific Street, in between the Granville Street Bridge. I happened to be downtown by Fire Hall No. 8 when the call came in at 4:30pm, and made my way over to the scene. The fire broke out at a workers shelter during heavy snowfall, which made conditions very challenging for firefighters, but the fire was nonetheless put out within an hour. Seen responding and/or at the scene were Engine 6, Ladder 7, Ladder 8, Rescue Engine 7, Rescue Engine 4, Medic 4, Battalion 1, AC Command as well as a new unmarked traffic unit of the Vancouver Police Department. Nobody was injured in this incident as far as I know.

How come rescue 9 never shows up for these high rise fires?

Because it’s a technical rescue unit, not a high rise unit. If they needed it for a high angle rescue they would call it in.
