*HI-LO* [Vancouver] "New" 1996 HME Ladder 10 With Lights & Siren!

  • Captured here is the newest addition to the Vancouver Fire & Rescue Services fleet, a 1996 HME mid-mount aerial! The somewhat historic truck has found a temporary new home at Vancouver's University Fire Hall, as the fire department is dealing with a critical shortage of aerial units. Ladder 10 previously served in Colton, California, and most recently in Qualicum Beach, British Columbia. It will be in service for the foreseeable future until additional newer aerial units are in service.
What do you think of this old truck? Let me know in the comments!

@TGGGlobalEmergencyResponses I'm telling you, They aren't gonna use the Q like if it's Philadelphia, Denver, New Haven, or Montréal, as in "Only the Q and nothing else" in terms of siren use. It's the main reason why Montréal is the only Canadian city on my "top Q users list".

Thanks for the comment! I find it pretty crazy that they actually brought in such an old unit, but it’s definitely a cool truck. Was kind of expecting some steady-burn to be built in since it used to be a California truck! 😄

Funny they put their proud ladder at their quietest station that isn't even in the City of Vancouver.
What happened to their big huge bloated rear mount they had. It was so big they moved from downtown out to the boondocks ay UBC.

@@TGGGlobalEmergencyResponses Well that is certainly interesting since they haven’t had a mechanical siren like a Q, Screaming Eagle, B&M Series, etc. etc. in a long time. The only trucks I know of that use a mechanical of any kind is E-2 & L-2 and T-10 (soon to be replaced).
