Criminally under-rated at the time, but they're getting their dues now. It's sad that Jimmy could not be still with us to appreciate it though. Timeless music..... It sounds like it could have been released yesterday...it will still be amazing in 20 more years time....

Went to see Catherine Wheel play at the Tivoli in Buckley (North Wales) supported by God Machine. Must've been early 90's. GM Blew my mind. I'd never heard of this band before, but Catherine wheel were shite afterwards..literally nothing to offer in comparison.
The lead singer i recall, asked for no lights except one red bulb and the band were so loud.., so good..it was without doubt one of the best gigs I've ever seen and I've been a massive fan ever since.

I haven't heard this song for 9 years. Wow! Made me sit up and listen, just like the first time. I left this album behind when I shipped to Basic Training, and never picked it up again when I left home. I spent many a lonely night doing push-ups, sit-ups and lifting weights, getting inspiration for my dissertation listening to this masterpiece. It made me get through the times when I was sucking hard. Great lyrics, great song, great band. Thank God for The God Machine! Rest in peace Jimmy!

    Black car
    Wrong side of the road
    Saying
Look out jack we're taking him home
    We're taking him home
    To his promised land
See the woman point to the sky
    Cross her heart
    And hope to die
    Jesus made her do it
    Jesus made her do it
    She's taking him home
    She's taking him home
    To his promised land
    I'm a wayward soldier
    On my way

    On my way

lots of videos from them on youtube by the way (type : mystere des voix bulgares) ...
you're welcome (frederic - brussels, belgium)

I was lucky enough to see them five or six times in 1990-92: at a pub in Gray's Inn, at the New Cross Falcon, at Reading 1990 and elsewhere (memory of 90s not so good). Absolutely amazing live: incredibly loud, tight and full of passion.
This is a beast of a song: love the bassline, love the brutal drums, question Robin's choice of shirt. And, yes, I agree with the previous poster who requested Pictures of a Bleeding Boy as your next video, whereishunter.
