  • How to screenprint multiple, overlapping colors! A guide to my systematic process of planning, testing, and printing to get a 'multiply' effect, where you can blend many transparent colors to get new shades in the spaces where you overlap layers. I also cover the basics of spot color vs. cmyk and why we need to work with transparent bases if we want to create overlapping colors with spot color processes like screenprinting.

im taking a couple printmaking classes at my college and we’ve been getting into screen printing for our final and i cannot tell you how clutch this video came in. im very big on color and we have a limit of 3 layers so this helped me figure out how to sneak out a few more colors in there without having to do as many test prints!! saved me a headache, fantastic video :)

I loved everything about this vid: the breakdown, the humbleness (makes the process seem more accessible!), the killer 70s-esque educational film synth soundtrack, and the flash of the Hasu poster art on the computer background! Thank you!

I'm so glad you made this video! I'm learning screen printing at home on the kitchen table and I really admire screen prints like yours that don't rely on outlines. I haven't seen anyone discuss this subject before and so this has been really helpful. I'm off to order some transparent base and make some rectangles!

Love to hear that! Hope you have fun making your own color charts, it's really satisfying to create your own library of favorite color combos. I'm also setting up a new studio in Feb, so hopefully I can share more DIY-oriented content in the near future!

I cannot believe I just discovered your videos!! I’ve always wanted to give screen printing / block printing a go but the process intimidates me, watching your videos though is so inspiring and informative, thank you for sharing! Also, the multiply layer option is my absolute favourite whenever I work on anything digital. 😂❤

Nice!!! I always feel like preparing your files digitally is so much more convenient than doing it analogue, but I don't think I could ever let go of working analogue. Test-printing some rectangles is really smart btw!

I really liked this video, it was so helpful and informative (and made aesthetically too). I have been binging your videos recently. Maybe i missed it if you said it already, but are you self taught? Or did you study printmaking? Your work is really beautiful
