  • Detox and Withdrawal suck under normal circumstances, going through it in jail takes it to a whole new level of misery. This is the story of my 6 weeks detox/withdrawal from multiple substances in county jail.

    Thank goodness you at least got benzos for the first five days.
    But for serious benzo withdrawal that can be a small fraction of the total time you’re withdrawing.
    I wonder how many out of control alcoholics or benzo addicts die in prison from withdrawal if they only get five days of tapering but they’ve been abusing for years and are still in crisis withdrawal territory. People even die in detox or rehab from mismanaged withdrawal, let alone prison.

    You are an amazing human being to have survived this. I have titrated down over years (I literally have lost count) from 135 mgs of Methadone which I took for over 10 years everyday before trying to get off. I have been stuck between 10 - 20 mgs for 2 years now...multiple attempts to jump off, make it 5 or 6 days, and literally feel like I may die and give up each time. Of course, I am older now, and have lost around 30 lbs of mostly muscle in this process. It is brutal to reduce even a milligram or 2 once you get so low on the dosage. There are a few people who have been thru what you described here, and lived to tell about it. Not only did you survive, you appear to be thriving! Youth is a magical gift, stay sober my friend bc it only gets harder with time, and cherish your health! I am truly in awe of your accomplishment!

      Well said. It’s impossible to explain these things to non addicts and even folks that have addicts in their families who had front row seats to this stuff. I’m on methadone too. Actually in February it’ll be 16 years. I don’t think I’ll EVER be off it completely. Came close once but I’m not volunteering to go through that again. Most of us can’t do it unless forced. Jail, prison, deployment, job/contract, ect.

I switched from Methadone to Liquid Morphine (not the IV kind, the kind you drink) bc of the shorter half life & withdrawal, then used Kratom to stop the morphine, then CT'd the Kratom. It was the hardest thing I've ever done, but I wanted to be off Methadone sooooo bad. Getting stronger everyday now (I was a personal trainer in my former life). I found something that actually helps with the worst of the withdrawal it's L-Glutamine take a teaspoon in 1/4 of bottle of water or juice. I am at day five with and I'm still able to eat and get up and walk around.. it really helps with the horrible muscles aches and pains that make it unbearable while detoxing. And has been keeping my anxiety in check and I've been pretty calm alot calmer than whenever I have tried to do it before and I'm sleeping at night which I usually never can doing this!

    Detoxing in jail for me was always easy, get to county and after intake go right to the medical wing for 7-10 days. Of course its brutal but mentally it was easier because I knew I cant get anymore dope.

    Also most people think you'll be fine in a week, and its only like a flu. Uh no, it takes weeks sometimes months. It is the most horrendous sick ever. Your nerve endings are super sensitive. The cold hurts on your skin , and at some points the anxiety is so bad its like you are on fire , but you're not. Its no joke. Please anyone thinking of trying methadone don't. Its the one mistake i regret immensely.

    How much is a bag exactly? In Texas, black tar is more popular, so we don't have those "folds" as I've heard some northerners call them, so I don't have a good idea of how much is in one of these "folds" or "bags" whatever you call em

    For someone who was more of an alcoholic than into drugs, when you say “in a shot” I’m assuming you’re referencing filling up a syringe?
    And when you say 2-3 bags of coke, what quantity is this in grams? Is a bag more than a gram and you were doing that every hour??

      A bag of dope is a tenth of a gram, ten bags is a bundle, a bundle is a gram. So .10 in CT , that's all I know, it's not universal though

    • @cannotfindmyshoes3
      @cannotfindmyshoes3 Před 3 měsíci

      That aint neccessarily true. Anyway, everyones withdrawal is different, depending on the length of their habit, their age, their bodyweight, their diet, ALLSORTS of things. Maybe you're just one of the unfortunate ones like me who seemed to get really long ones. An if you think about it, when you smoke it you're not getting all of it. When you inject it you're getting all of it and everything that's mixed in too, so long as it's soluble.

    Was taking the M30 pressies X-11 and real* 7-12x oxy/perc/dro every 24 hours. everyday for years. Been addicted for nine years I would go hard-core never would take a break and then 3 to 9 months within those times I would just flip the switch and stop cold turkey. Always have made it through the pain and Innoway, I kind of like feeling myself come back alive and feeling that type of pain in a weird way. .
    Recently, I was arrested for the first time and had to go through cold turkey in the jail with no medication. No gabapentin, no blanket even. At that time I was taking 11 to 12 pressies and around 10 real piled on top of that. It was a very cold experience.

    Not gonna lie. Your experience was torture. Also, the sad part is that most people leave prison and go right back to the street drugs. You were a perfect candidate for Methadone or Buprenorphine. And yes....people have died going cold turkey off Fentanyl/Heroin alone.
