This is a joke .. if we want to open that door .. then lets look at trade barriers erected against Weimar Germany that led to mass printing of money .. lets look at Japan's invasion of China in 1933 .. lets look at the western powers rejection of Stalin's over tunes for an alliance prior to Stalin's approach to Hitler
      Complete total joke

Melaniya asks where did the idea come from that the West are the only colonialists/imperialists? As an up close and personal observer of the 1960s anti-war movement, it is disinfomation fed to organizers from the hard-core socialists scattered in and among the various grass-root organizations. It served as a way of being accepted and establishing your bona fides as a true believer. And it is still hanging on to this day. It is like a password necessary to be accepted and trusted in certain circles, kinda like election denial. The fact that Russia happens to be omitted from the list of imperialists is a pretty good indicator of the source of the idea.

For me, being that this war is the first war online. It's never going to fade. I will forever be in love with Ukraine. And hope that I can visit the country before I die. With as close as we can get to the frontline by following channels that are there. This is really for real on a totally new and different level. I am not a decision maker. I do fax our representatives though. I live in PA, so you know what I am working with and our government. I send faxes because the government can't ignore a paper trail. Faxes are the last paper trail. And I do it once a week!

I want Universal Healthcare Medicare for All Bernie’s version in the USA 🇺🇸. A moderate position in Europe, I’m told. At the same time from a Human Rights perspective I’m totally with Ukraine 🇺🇦. I can hold these two thoughts at the same time. I break with fellow Progressives who can only see the Iraq 🇮🇶 war as bad (true), while giving a blind eye to atrocities a million times worse which is what Russia 🇷🇺 is doing in Ukraine 🇺🇦. All I had to fo was see the bombing of Mariupol civilians and the NATO expansion argument fell away. The mask was off. If Ukraine 🇺🇦 and Georgia 🇬🇪 had been allowed to join NATO as Bush wanted, these wars wound never have happened. France 🇫🇷 and Germany 🇩🇪 blocked it thinking it would provoke Russia. Proposing joining and being rejected is exactly what put both countries directly in Russia’s line of fire. Ironically rejecting membership was the provocation, failed deterrence.

I see right now, the fighting is in a small area all fighting for control of the roads. If they move back and the mud dries, and the tanks can use the fields, it becomes like Kursk where there are miles and miles of people and tanks going both directions and few places to hide. Why wouldn't you want to keep it in a small area where you are the defenders. You do NOT want to have them turn Kramatorsk or Slaviansk into Bakhmutian rubble. One Mariupol is enough. Great job guys. Paul, I am so excited for when this atrocity ends. I envision you getting into Ukraine, rolling up your sleeves and working on Anti-corruption with the Government and getting the people to buy into why it has to happen and working towards EU and NATO acceptance. Melaniya, I can't wait to see what you do to also move your country in that direction. You have excellent communication skills in a language that isn't your own so you are probably even much better in your native language. On the topic of acknowedgement of past atrocities, remember Germany came to terms with its past after WW II because it was flattened and wholly occupied by allied powers. Compare that to WWI where Germany lost but was never occupied. That allowed the myth of the great betrayal to take root contributing (along with war reparations and inflation)to the collapse of the Weimar Republic and the rise of the Nazis. Russia is not going to be occupied after the Ukranian invasion and NATO will never cross its borders. What kind of hatred will continue to fester there after defeat at the hands of NATO? Russia will sit safe behind its borders with its hypersonic missiles, its submarines and its nukes. There will be no contrition or acknowldgement in our lifetimes….

Different types of machines like this are already invented and work. I haven't heard you talk about this solution yet for Bachmut. In this way Ukraine could save many of their soldiers while (remotely) killing the invaders.

Paul, as a boomer who grew up with the Cold War & the Cuban Missile Crisis, and as a student of WWII, I feel qualified to dress you down a bit. I do NOT know about Milleniel Socialism but the Communism of the Soviet Union is NOT Socialism. I consider myself a Socialist in the vein that I don't mind paying more taxes so that people who have less than I do can have more than they have. I agree on taxing the shit out of the rich. I wish we in the US had nationalized our fossil fuels. If that money wasn't in the hands of a few or the wags at the top of say Exon then we too could have National Healthcare and free/low cost university. My daughter who is your age, had to pay $1700, a year while living at home to go to UC San Diego. That's ridiculous. She didn't qualify for any fafsa as I a single mother, made too much money at 60K which is nothing. So I am a Socialist at 70 because I want income to be more equal. I love the way of Socialism in Scandinavia. But what Russia did to Socialism to get Soviet Communism is not what Marx envisioned. I don't think Marx would have been cheering on the Holodomor or the Red Terror.

As always the problem is in the public that tries to protect their interests rather than uncompromisingly speak out, even if that might lead to them having to apply self critic. This was the problem in the 1920ies / 1930ies and again since the late 1980ies / early 2000s (Afghanistan, Chechenya, Georgia,....and so many others in all parts of the World)

I love ya, Paul, but your analysis of the origins of WWII, historical revisionism, the nature of the USSR & the Cold War is dangerously simplistic. This is a multivariate equation & you’re thinking in terms of 2+2. You don’t have WWII without WWI for starters, and that’s where shit really starts to get confusing.

The problem with Russia and Western countries goes further in the past than WWII... Russia had always teamed up with Germany against strong central / Eastern Europe... Also, other West European countries preferred to have Russia and Central Europe weak. Look at the war in 1921 / 22 when Poland could finish Bolehevics and help to restore Ukraine. It did not happen as France and UK had different interests. WWII could never happen if the UK and France would do anything serious in 1939... In 1944/45 USA and the UK knew who Russia is. Hunger in Ukraine was known. Katyn was known. The stories of Anders Army were known. So giving Poland and other countries under Stalin power was difficult to explain... A strong narration had to be created for the people of the West (read change of the history) to rationalize what was going on... I know Polish history quite well, and I know what happens from 1944 until 1989. What I am excited about now is the first time “East Europe” is strong and uses the power of media and politics to keep the Western people informed... What I am excited about is that Joe Biden understands what's going on in Russia and Western Europe...
I hope that this time the Russia-boarding countries in Europe will not wait for help from the West, but will cooperate for their security (political, economic, and military) which I believe can exist next to old West European countries for benefit of Europe in total.

For Melaniya: I feel like the last segment about reconciliation and getting on the same historical page would be a great way for Ukrainians to relate to African Americans and people of color here in the US. I’m Cuban American, so in that way I have never felt that oppression because I can pass as white, but I am gay and I think that I relate to Ukrainians in this constant struggle to be treated as equals and not fear violence against myself. I know a lot of Black Americans feel similarly (especially in the context of slavery and systemic racism) and they’re a group that hasn’t been reached yet bc it seems like we only care about Ukraine because you’re mostly white. Tbh I feel like y’all have a lot more in common with myself as a person of color and as an lgbtq person in America and it may help reach Black Americans to talk about this more. Slava Ukraini ❤️
