A suspended license and an expired license are two very different things. If you forget to renew your license it'll expire. Driving on an expired license is not that big a deal. A suspended license means that you did something that resulted in your license being taken away, such as drink driving. That's rather more serious.

Not necessarily my license was suspended and I didn't know it because I had a speeding ticket which I didn't deserve and when I went to pay it they kick back my payment and then after a time it expired on his own and I didn't even know it

Recently, a bunch of police stations near my area all gathered at a children’s hospital and said hello, trying to cheer them up. People don’t report on that though, because that doesn’t fit their agenda of “police bad”.

Nowadays with everything we see on the internet regarding police officers being highly negative, it is refreshing to see the opposite here. Don't get to see this side much. The driver was being over the top and instigating a lot.
That officer has the patience of a saint. Really, I have nothing but respect and admiration for him. He deserves to get a raise.

You can't renew a suspended licence. A suspended licence is when you committed a crime such as speeding or drink driving and it means you're banned from driving until the suspension period is over. It's an _expired_ licence that can and should be renewed if you want to be able to continue driving.

The cop even said he didn’t want to bother searching the car, he didn’t even want all that trouble in the first place. Probably might have even let them go if they just complied, or at most just write them a ticket, but the lady had to make it worse
I've never gotten my license suspended, but I'm pretty sure you go to jail if you get caught driving on a suspended...
Where I'm at, driving on a suspended license is a simple fine, unless the suspension was because of a DUI, in which case there is some jail time (basically two weeks to two years), and fines are involved.

if youre nice to the cops theyre usually nice to you. ive been pulled over a dozen or more times and theyve never given me a hard time. usually its for a broken blinker but i did have expired tags for a little over 6 months and they did have to get me for that but they couldve gotten me for alot more if they wanted to. being nice goes a long way.

Throughout my whole life as a person of color living in North America ive been pulled over a handful of times and ive never gotten a ticket. When people start the conversation with the officer with rude remarks it just makes them less inclined to not give you a ticket. Never once has a ticket or arrest been avoided by being disrespectful to civil servants.

I got into watching soverign citizen traffic stops (people who essentially think the law doesn't apply to them. No, seriously.) and so many of these clips are people who refuse to comply with the most basic things.
Every other clip could be like what Opti said, a quick little stop for a minor transgression, but it it always escalates because they won't stop arguing and refusing to provide id or information.

Optimus, let me correct a few things here. The cop cannot know about a suspended license unless they run the plates of the car, and the owner's information comes back as such. They do random stuff like that all the time, but she simply messed up. It's a legit stop, but she does have a point about the random stop. Beyond that point, she's seriously in the wrong. Also, suspended license means she's been pulled before, and either has enough tickets to suspend, or has one or more tickets overdue to suspend. Expired license is different in that regard. Passenger doesn't have to give the identification, name or not, unless the passenger has committed a crime as well. In this case, seatbelts are 100% viable for a ticket, so I'd is justified. I applaud the cop for this one, kept his cool, was a legit cop.
