🤗 THANKS NORM….for sharing your experience 👍😍😍😍
Love your listening/living space. Love ya Mazzy.
Thank you Jeff ✌🏽
Really enjoyed this one.. Thanks Mazzy.
Thank you. Early morning riser 🕊
Great room
Great sound in there.
Great video.
Thanks 🙏 🎶✌️
Thank for watching ✌🏽
I built a whole playlist of those screen savers. Great visual while listening to music
those Wamono records are just great, fantastic pressings, thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching. Yes they are cool records.
My set up is in the living room. That's been the case ever since I have been away from my parents!
Enjoy good sound. Now that sounds totally reasonable!
I like your rooms. Clean and simple.
Absolutely.
Thank you Rockchica 🥁
First time seeing your gear, very nice Mazzy, simple and top quality. Hana is a remarkable cartridge at an very affordable price....cheers.
Hey Mazzy.. still dragging my feet in setting up my new turntable, and amp, just busy. Your set up looks killer in the shadows. Have that Ella And Louie LP on an original. Hear the remaster is great. Beautiful set up Mazzy.. have a great day today..
Hey Mazzy,
I live in Mountlake Terrace and have been going to Hawthorne Stereo for years, amazing store. Love your channel.
Yeah it’s a cool space neighbor ✌🏽
Interesting video Mazzy. I have a dedicated music room (well combined with my Comics hobby). It's the first time thats I've had my music collection & sound system in the same room. Traditionally it's usually been in my normal living area. However I might be in for yet another house move soon and my thinking will likely be revised at the next place back to normal. The listening area in the music room hasn't been used much as I've generally been pottering around with music going in the background.
Our listening areas are created for varying reasons. Part of it might be informed by our respective domestic situations, especially for the attached, if our spouses don't really appreciate our music collecting hobbies. We make do with what we have and we make it work somehow. It's all part of the fun. Cheers 😊
Yeah it’s whatever works for each of us Thanks for watching and commenting ✌🏽
Couldn't agree with you more.....it really is about what works for you. I was overdue to upgrade my turntable due to the fact an issue developed with my 40 year old Rega Planar 2 that was unfixable according to a very reputable shop here in Toronto. So I ended up, after much research and deliberation, purchasing the Technics SL 1200 GR and couldn't be happier. I went with a Grado Gold 3 cartridge for the time being and will upgrade later. The first thing I noticed was a much stronger signal from the new tone arm, wiring and contacts to the Amp...so the volume level is noticeably higher. I have to turn down a couple of notches from what I was used to.
Anyway a dedicated tube amp will be next but for now I'm very pleased.
Great video!
Sounds like to have a rig you enjoy. ThT all any of us need cheers ✌🏽
If your happy, your happy. More power to you. We all fall into wormholes. I am trying to claim back my record collection after misspent youth. That is becoming more important to me. Thanks for the reminder 🙏
Just enjoy it. The music is almost a spiritual connection for me ✌🏽
Wow Mazzy I loved this. I feel like we had coffee together at breakfast. Thanks for the real talk.
We did. Maybe ☕️☕️☕️
nice one Mazzy !
i agree! i usually focus on finding better pressings, either the cd or vinyl pressing, my set up is somewhat audiophile but i am more concerned with great looking and sounding records
Nice to hear reasonable opinions. Tired of hearing if it costs more it is better.
Love your attitude, comments, taste, humor, sensitivity, and honesty. In some of your videos, I noticed what appear to be tube guitar amps. I expect you have those because you know tube guitar amps provide the most beautiful and natural tones of your electric guitars. When you're ready to upgrade your integrated amp, you might want to try a tube integrated amp instead of solid state and enjoy the same warm sound of tubes for your terrific vinyl collection. It doesn't have to be an expensive tube amp.
I thought about tubes. Maybe r sometime 🥁
I got away from tubes 25 years ago and have never been happier. They can be noisy and unreliable (IMO).
I use a Rotel 950 with cerwin vega speakers,a marantz cd player and audio-technica turntable.I've loved cerwin vega speakers since the mid 70s
To me an "audiophile" is anyone who takes steps to make their system/listening experience one step better than it was before. That can be done on three front: The lp/cd/ sources you purchase, placement of equipment/room set up, and then the equipment itself. IMO this actually allows anyone of any level to be "audiophile like" and allows people to focus on the elements that bring the most meaning to their listening experience.
I enjoyed your video and the way you listen to music. I am an audiophile. I want good sound which enables me to enjoy the music I listen to. I have a mixture of vintage and modern equipment both at home and my office. It suits my needs and that’s what matters.
Exactly. Whatever you like and makes the Music connect to you. ✌🏽
Agree with you here. I want to listen to music where I live. I have a Sonos in my bedroom for convenience. I think we have the same guru that works at Hawthorne.
fantastic video, thank you ✌🏻,would you have any footage or pictures of your old system in California?
I definitely could use a new brush.
Anne (wife) thinks the brush I'm using might make the records dirtier!
Something a little different. You mentioned Hawthorne Stereo... I looked at their used equipment and they had a pre amp/amp combination I have been looking for from the late 70's . I contacted them on Monday they answered my questions and I purchased it Monday night online. They also sell DS Audio phono carts. I will be connecting with them for my new TT setup!
Very cool. Matt is their turntable guy !!!
I became much happier with my system once I found the Sumiko method of speaker placement - the equipment meant much less once the speakers were placed correctly in the space they lived because the room is always a battle. I have a 4 part series on my channel all about the method.
Who makes that wood LP stand/display that's on the floor?
Man, I would give my left arm (just an expression) to have gear like yours! I would be satisfied! Nice hat too!
I simply bought a JBL PA system with a 1200 W sub that is suitable for a small dance club.
(:
I agree about the boxes these "uhqr" and similar releases use. Just give me a great jacket and quiet pressing some tasty waves, a cool buzz, and I’m fine.
Yeah the thick boxes are unnecessary imho. ✌🏽
Ella and Louis album by your elbow......Nice !!!!
I have that same LP.
🤘🏼
Played some status quo alan Lancaster passed on.good seeing him on u tube getting back with his old mates.
Totally agree, music must come first (my voyage is to get as close as possible to a live performance in acceptable level - classic music - )😊
Completely agree with you on the UHQR packaging. The record is fantastic and the quietness and low noise floor of the vinyl should be a kick up the arse for standard vinyl quality. The cover is beautiful but I don't need that great big "pretend book" style case and all the brochures, which is probably almost half the cost. It would be great if they could offer two versions.
Sad day, RIP Commander.
At any point did you ever go quadroponic?
I'm an audiophile in the sense that I want a record in good condition. That doesn't necessarily mean I'm chasing after $300 pressings but I'm still on a mission for condition. As for gear, I'm due for an upgrade. Time and finances will determine where that goes for me.
I agree wish you on expecting perfection for a $100 release and also not always needing all the extra accouterments. I defend the JBLs aswell. I'd love a pair with the orange faces.
I love the orange grills eric. Had a pair in the 70s. Keep getting better ✌🏽
With good cartridges, you need records in decent condition
Hope you're feeling better every day, brother.
Mazzy I always enjoy seeing you room setup I have to say you and this guy on Instagram definitely convinced me to get a Rega I went with the p6 I’m really digging it I agree your setup definitely is what work for you I have a smaller space I one day want to get the Bower & Wilkes speakers but went with the 80th WHarfedale Denton speakers for amp I have Marantz pm8006 gifted to me for my birthday from my nephew love you state of the stereo listen have a great week Mazzy thanks for sharing love the music sounds so cool i would say im a musicphile too I love orginals and reissues. Lovellandrew
Hey man, I’m curious about that Rotel amp as I’ve heard amazing reports. I myself like to go a bit left field and was thinking of putting my Wharfedale E90s and my SL1900 technics through a RSX 1065 (with a preamp). I heard the musicality of the amp is off the chart. Any information is appreciated. Have you changed to a different amp and if so do you regret it?

“Audio-Feel-Ya”, “Audio-Feel-Ya” I understand the dilemma of better sound but there is a limit for me. I have B&W CM-9 speakers, McIntosh MC 6700 receiver, Pro-ject Classic TT with Sumiko Amethyst MM cartridge(I will get a MC cartridge in the future). It’s great for now, I just want to keep collecting great sounding records. ☮️✌️☮️
When play mono do you use the center channel only? Or stick to your beautiful towers?
No. The center speaker is only for dialogue in films. The two side speakers play mono. Same sounds out of both. 🎶
Mazzy..this one got me thinking, which I do once in a while. I upgraded my integrated amp last year. It's now the high of the low end, though the company that makes it well sell you a much better one for $5K. Mine sounds wonderful. And I start thinking, what was the equipment when I originally heard The Beatles songs? It was a shitty radio (bakelite composition) that'd on a good evening get reception for a little kid in central New Mexico the mighty 50000 Watt KOMA in Oklahoma City. And I'd tune in hoping to hear Can't Buy Me Love or All Day and All of the Night or I Get Around. Many nights I could listen to all of that on a shitty radio that probably had a four inch speaker and sounded terrible, plus AM radio is like Bluetooth or something these days. It didn't matter, I loved it. So it's good to have decent equipment, or whatever ya want, but it's the music that lights up the equipment.
Nice comments Whatever you enjoy playing music on is what works for you. ✌🏽
I like to share a little nonsense with you. Last month I went to a friend's party and he has Dynaudio confidence 30 speakers with Luxman amps and they sounded so sexy, with highs that floated in mid-air and a midrange and bass that held it up so you could kiss the sound. The next week another party only this time Crown amps and Cerwin XLS-215 speakers. The sound was unrefined and boastful and the music made me want to get up dance. I enjoyed both for different reasons. I would take the Dynaudio over the Cerwin in a heartbeat. If all I had was the Cerwin I could still enjoy my music.
It’s all good. Different rooms different moods different gear different ears.
A nice overview of your setup and how you live with music. I am not a gear-head so I appreciate your "it's about the music" way of thinking about audio equipment. Question: How do you avoid copyright strikes with your needle drops? Thanks!
Some music is allowed to be used and any $$$ from commercials goes to the rights holder. Lots of other songs are completed blocked
I could be wrong, but I think he does not monetize his channel, so he can do needle drops.
@@johnhpalmer6098 anyone can do needle drops but not with all music. Sone artists and labels like the Beatles, Dylan not not allow the use of their music and block everything so you would need to eliminate their songs or remove the entire video. Other artists allow the use and any money from advertising goes to them. ✌🏽
Live in a tenement close..couples with young families about 10 people live in the one building the walls are gyproc and sand loudest music I play bringer of war holst 1812 overture and Metallica. Don't do rave music.last cd that gave the speakers a workout killing eve soundtrack still have my turntable.played lou reed magic and loss bought los lobos on ur recommendation. Still to play it.playing a lot of Willie Nelson. Big John from Glasgow Scotland.
Mazzy I noticed when I use a brush I get tons of static
Sometimes different houses have more or Less static 🤷🏻♂️
One can strive for the best sound thats affordable and doesnt drive them nutty and also love all types of music lo-fi, mid-fi and hi-fi. I never have seen the two aspects to be incompatible.
I aint gonna miss out on my VU music simply because its more lo-fi than a analogue production lp. On the other hand I probably cant afford an original of VU and Nico so I find the next best solution that I can afford. Sometimes thats even *gasp* the cd mastering 😯
Never have been media loyal. Give me the cheapest, yet best alternative.
Pretty much agree. Those VU records are just so fantastic. The sound of them adds to their strength. ✌🏽
What shampoo do you use?
lol
120 grit 🤠
@@mazzysmusic LMMFAO!
Good morning its mazzy 😋😋
What are you doing up at 530am. ??? I was rudely awaken at 8am with the sound of a delivery truck dropping off a neighbour’s freezer ☹️
Simple ** It's about the MUSIC ** Although a seperate D.A. makes the Oppo Sing
Jazzy why vinyl? They jump they scratch they hide they warp is it the sound quality you like it are you just a collector? I'm not criticising just curious. To change the subject I was looking for a trilby on Amazon and found some from a seller called Maz accessories anything to do with yo u!
Just occurred to me, Lindsay Buckingham's On the Wrong Side could have been a Fleetwood Mac hit.
That is a healthy and refreshingly bullshit-free approach to music reproduction. The electronics is there to serve the music, not the other way around. We sometimes get a little too caught up in the gear, just because it exists and just because there is always something better, shinier, pricier out there. So, enjoy the tunes and peace out!
Yeah fully agree ✌🏽
Mazzy.I also have an OPPO player..mine is a BDP105..You errored in your equipment listing..Turntable and cart should read Rega..not Rotel..LOL…your system looks amazing..I am also a musicphile first..I love good sound but long ago made the decision I will buy the best equipment I can afford and be done with it..I am not chasing perfect sound with constant upgrades..cables, conditioners, etc, etc..This was a great video❤️❤️❤️👍👍👍🍸🍸🍸glen
Hey Glen. Thank you. Corrected. To many RRRRRRRs....
@@mazzysmusic I like my JBL L100 speakers also have a pair of JBL 4310 monitors.
I'm a Mazzyphile
I have a similar level of sound system...only real difference is that i have a tube preamp...as i love the sound of tubes...but for me, the music comes first...
I’ve been curious about tubes. Just a direction I’m not sure I wanna jump into 🤠😳😎
Get Mazzy sorry about the jazzy name in the last comment but it was auto correct not me
I think your living room looks very nice but ....don't you think it would be greatly enhanced by some huge great doorstop power amps on the floor and a rats nest of trailing "boa constrictor style" cables on cable lifters everywhere? Also some speakers that look like they've come to take over the planet would just set off your decor nicely and add to the relaxing mood.
I like Audio Connection in Seattle. John Zimmerman is a straight shooter.
hi mazzy do what is good for you thank you
Nice place ,coffee ? Am i the only person who likes a rye n coke first thing ?
Yeah the rye whiskey is end of the day for me 🥃
Your comment reminded me of a boss I once had. He'd drink Coke all day long; 7am when we're having our morning coffee, he's drinking a Coke. The only difference was at what point during the day he'd add rum to it.
F*ck the music it’s all about the Fedora hhahaha nice video Mazzy greetings from the Rock of Gibraltar from a fellow fedora wearer. I run a Dual 1019 turntable connected to Leak 30 Plus or Leak 70 amps that I switch between and Leak mini sandwich speakers. I have a fantastic technician that has become my friend who lives near me and we have tuned the Leak stuff with new caps etc etc we also created new crossovers for the speakers. I love the stuff that was available after or when or around the time I was born (1966). As a designer/photographer it’s all about it being cool to look at for me…..and that it looks great in my living room
I with your about design as well and it helps have a local gear guru ✌🏽
@@mazzysmusic local tech guru is a HUGE advantage cos you can literally upgrade 'vintage' tech with 'recaps' etc whilst keeping the exterior 'cool'. The 'watts' thing is real....watts back then seem to be different to watts ratings now. Jimi Hendrix had a Leak 30 amp in London apartment + Lowther speakers + BangOlufsen turntable and apparently he liked it loud. I find my Leak 30 Plus amp to be more than loud enough for my large living room, let alone my Leak 70 amp.
You can't be an audiophile; you've a receiver.
I have a new receiver on the way. A Hegel h390. Abs even though I don’t consider myself an audiophile you can be in using a integrated receiver. It’s the music first. Too many get the gear thing primarily but it should be the music first imho
I have dabbled with hi fi for fifty years and like things that play music and sound decent. One thing I try to avoid is people who talk more about the equipment rather than the music thats playing which is what a lot of audiophiles get hung up on. I do love my rega planar 4.
🎳✌🏽🌟
You scared me.
That was my intention ™️
I’m glad you didn’t walk out of bed in your underpants or something 😁
I would fall in the category of a person that likes decent gear but not over the top… if it sounds good to me that’s all I need to sleep at night.
💃💃💃
Perfect that is very well said,my thoughts exactly!
Do you have considerate neighbours. Don't put music on till 9 in the morning. Music off 10.30.
I do consider my neighbors but my home is somewhat isolated higher on a corner lot with only one house about twenty feet from me. No common walls abs my windiest are usually closed when I turn up the volume ✌🏽
Hope your neighbors are not too close. Playing music that early.
All good. I replied to a similar question earlier here 🎶
I’m searching for the perfect pair of earbuds. 😎🤠
The world of Earbuds / IEMs is deep rabbit hole to explore. Happy hunting and listening 👂🏼 . . . 😎
@@lanemiddleton9 Everything seems to have a deep rabbit hole these days. I was just joking anyway. Cheers

Thats not stereo and looks mostley digital..no speaker separation.....mono or blended sound to listening place
Most of so called audiophiliacs, care more about (over) expensive gear, then about music.
RP8-so out-dated.
Got my P8 coming next week.
Hmmmm???
