    One side of my family is from New Brunswick, so I'm used to seeing and eating lobster, but these nets and this lobster species are so different!
    ...Usually we boil them whole to insta-kill them before starting to dismember them though. And I can't even stand to witness the boiling. 😅
    Also, are the tiny legs and some of the meat from the torso/head not edible in this species? In New Brunswick lobster there are still lots of delicious parts aside from the tail.

    We were ticketed and our lobster was confiscated by the fish and game. They have to stay whole until leaving the dock or consumed.

    maine lobster doesn't stand a candle compared to CA spiny. but boiling it is a waste. bbq it, brushed with butter.

    NEVER clean the lobsters before you get them home. They have to be whole in order to properly measure them. Once you remove the tail, Fish & Wildlife can't properly measure them, and they are, by default, illegal.

    It is absolutely illegal to process lobster at the ocean, the California fish and wildlife, would love to see this video.

      Not if you're consuming them right away. Law states. Spiny lobsters shall be kept in a whole, measurable condition, until being prepared for immediate consumption. Reference CCR T14, Section 29.90(e)
