The Jets were 6-5 before this loss and ended up finishing 6-10. They never recovered from this loss. I had the chicken pox at the time and I remember this horrible season like it was yesterday.
After this game they went a total of 4-32 over a span of two full seasons and 4 games.
Justin Joseph yes and it caused them to fire Pete Carroll and hire Richie Kotite who had just been fired by the Eagles after having even even WORSE late season collapse than the Jets did… Kotite ended up going 4-28 with the Jets…
@@KMC5240 You somehow managed to win the last game in that particular stretch.
@@TheLocalLt When he announced he was leaving, he somehow won.
Nice to see the Patriots at the bottom of the Division 😂😂😂
11:06 The third td pass Marino throws to Ingram is beautiful.
There was another mark Ingram 😂
@@JDP2104 Yeah, he's the father of the Mark Ingram on the Ravens
Larry Legend is a GOAT it’s Mark Ingram the RBs father, Mark Sr made one of the best plays in Super Bowl history when he was with the Giants, a catch and run on 3rd and 13 to extend a crushing 9 minute drive
@@TheLocalLt I blame the defense for quitting more than I credit him for making it.
Pure arm strength on that one...almost looks like he throws it flat-footed
After this game the Jets would not only lose the rest of their games in this season but would also win only 3 games over the the next two seasons! Fins up!
Seriously???
@@captfeeny Starting with this game and lasting through 1996 the Jets would go 4-33 over their next 37 regular season games.
@@ckendall67 Yup and They Wen 1-15 in 1996 The Worst Season in Team History!
@@ckendall67 It seems like that one play was a foreshadowing, microcosm, of things to come!
Cheers
P.S. Great job with the condensed game package! That's how its done! I felt like I had stepped into a time machine and was there, reliving a magic moment. A+
J E T S JETS JETS JETS!!!!!!!!!!
Super Bowl ring or not, Marino in his prime was about as good as it gets
A true defense and running game could get him a ring
The 94 Jets never recovered from this loss they wouldnt see a 500 or winning season until 1997.
And everyone blamed that season on Boomer when if you watch this game, why in the hell did they not run the ball in the those last 3 minutes. Plus the OL was horrible in the last quarter
Those dolphins uniforms were so fresh. Absolute farce the dolphins no longer wear them.
farse*
Duolingo Bird it’s actually spelt farce
@@petrofor3430
Well then we were both wrong.
Duolingo Bird touché
Jets uniforms too
Dan Marino caught the Jets napping as if he stopped the clock
Yes
This beyond humiliating but Iconic choke and what transpired the two years after this is why the Jets are a "Buttfumble" of a franchise!
The radio call for the fake spike is one of my all-time favorites, that dude was so hyped.
I've always liked that 75th anniversary logo; it just looks visually pleasing to me.
That final drive was beautiful by Marino.
Dan "The Man" Marino is the greatest Q.B. of all time!!
Definitely up there somewhere. The only ppl i would put ahead of him are Peyton Manning, Joe Montana, and Brady. You guys can tell me if I missed people.
Marino lacks the rings and that right there should tell u just how good this man was,to be mentioned in a vroup of passers, that all have multiple rings is INCREDIBLE!!Had he managed a couple rings or even one ring I think Dan Marino would be considered THE GOAT,cuz nobody threw the ball like him and it went far beyond just throwing as well, his IQ of the position and the game he played was second to none and to top it off his desire to win and overcome things to get the win is again second to none,as a,Fin fan from the age of 10 in 1984 I was hooked on Marino and the DOLPHINS and till this day its such a travesty that SHULA couldnt get the necessary help,ESPESIALLY on the DEFENSE!!Marinos prime yrs,86-89 were just throw aways, yea he had a 44 TD's in 86 but I believe they were .500??if I am remembering correctly??I mean the #'s we have seen this last decade or so are RIDICULOUS and DAN MARINO had those type #'s in the mid to late 80's!!LMAO!!Marino coming out of the draft today would be something to see!!
Regardless of rings or not, Dan Marino is the most skilled QB I have ever seen without a normal person couldn't name 5 targets that Dan Marino threw the ball to smh
Yes sir totally agree Dan the Man deserves a ring so bad man. Just never had the team
Hes the GOAT in my eyes. No one was better and accomplished so much with so little
I forgot this was when Ronnie Lott was at the end of his career, and signed with the Jets. Anyway, thanks for uploading. This was a great game. Dolphins need to go back to these uniforms when they start winning again.
A year before the Panthers and Jaguars started play in the NFL.
M Detlef oh look, an asshat!
Don't forget Baltimore
@@ElSantoPlomo k this was two years before the ravens were a team.
Marino =GOAT ,Paul Mcguire great announcer!
When the patriots were last in the division
Whats funny is that they ended up starting out 3-6 and Finished 10-6/ 2nd in the Division... only to lose to their Future head coach in the Wild card round
It will happen again once Brady and Beli will be gone.
Good times
Nope. Stephen Belichick will take over and the Dynasty will live on. Just got to find a decent quarterback.
The good ole days of Miami not even being in super bowl since the 80s and jets since Nixon was in office.
Those fumbles that Miami didn’t jump on were very frustrating
Also Jets switched back to Kelly green this year, Fins have been wearing the ones seen here a lot as an alternate, cmon Fins take the hint from the Jets: time to make the switch back permanent
Fun fact: Mark Ingram Sr. was the recipient of the famous Marino spike. 15 years later his son would win a Heisman Trophy
Another fun fact: Both Miami receivers in this game, Ingram and Fryar have done.are doing prison time. Fryar was sent to prison for 5 years for being involved in a mortgage scam and Ingram went to prison for money laundering and fraud. Ingram was given two additional years for failing to turn himself in to begin serving his sentence, instead going to watch his son play.
@@stevep8445 if that is what you call "fun facts" about them then it says a lot about you. None of what you said was football related. Stfu. You don't belong here!
David Anaya II also Mark Ingram Sr had one of the best plays in Super Bowl history when he was with the Giants on a 3rd and 13
@@TheLocalLt That play was less offensive prowess, and, more defensive breakdown.
Matthew Daley he had a nose for the sticks on that play, great awareness. Bills D was tired though no question
11:06 is insane!!!!!!! I miss those days so much. Hopefully the future is brighter than the last 20 years.
The Jets overreacted to this game and subsequent late-season collapse by firing Pete Carroll and hiring Richie Kotite, who had an even WORSE late-season collapse with the Eagles! Made ZERO sense and the Jets paid for it by going 4-28 over the next two years.
Oddly enough, he won his last game after announcing he was quitting following it.
At least Carroll became what he is today
Kotite had been offensive coordinator for the Jets before and Leon Hess wanted him to be their head coach. Kotite got a lot of mileage from those solid first 2 years with the Eagles.
I miss when Marv Albert called NFL games
The Jets being the Jets 😂😂😂😂
One of the great games of the '90s and it was the game that pretty much sealed the deal for Pete Carroll which led to one of the most disastrous coaching tenures ever with Rich Kotite's idiocy.
Steve Spag for the Rams rivals it
Or Matt Patricia and the Lions
The only year NBC used the theme heard at the beginning. They used a different theme in 1992, 1993 and 1994 but all were composed by John Colby.
That loss must have crushed them psychologically. I wonder if they still had that in their heads afterwards since they lost the rest of the games after this
Could you do a recap of Reggie white’s career
Last time I was this early, the Panthers were Super Bowl contenders.
17 or 15
Damn that a long time ago lol😂😂
Marino greatest game of all time. These classic games need to be reserved.
The clock play was brought to the Dolphins by Bernie Kosar earlier in the season. Shula decided this was the perfect time to use it. Was so happy when this happened, can't stand Pete Caroll. Two years earlier, when he was Jets DC, he did a "Choke sign" on the sidelines when Pete Stoyanovich missed a PAT vs the Jets. Miami won on a field goal in OT to hand Carroll the loss...
Marino had a cannon for an arm - even by today's standards.
I literally just got through watching a lot of this game on the NFL Network as they were doing a Classic Games program. I saw a stat that I almost couldn't believe as a Dolphins fan: the Dolphins offense hadn't scored a touchdown at all in the first quarter for nearly 11 or 12 games. Wow. I knew they struggled this season and were up and down, but wow.
Miami has been horrible ever since Dan the Man retired. I miss the good ol days just wish he couldve got a ring . One of the greatest qbs but never had the team
He is probably the greatest ever
@@integrity101 I am a lifelong Miami fan, Marino was great but not the best ever. If I had a game that I needed to win, I would take the following (in no order) Unitas, Montana, Brady, Elway. Marino was under .500 in the postseason. Truly, truly great players LIFE their team up and win. Marino was a lot like Dan Fouts..
@@stevep8445
He had no team. He was also 7-3 in home post season games. 1-7 on the road. He had a dynasty IN HIS DIVISION unlike every other HOF QB (sans Kelly).
You can only lift ur team so much. Brady had a 500 record in the post season on the road as of a a couple years ago. I think he was 2-2
Its a team sport. If Dan never made the playoffs id agree.
Plus playoff win loss records are completely different than regular season. Must people consider making the conference championship game to be a "deep run" in the playoffs right? Well people dont realize a QB could play 20 seasons in the league and lose in the conference championship game every single year and retire with a 500 record in the playoffs. Its totally different.
Wins/losses is one element among many to judge an individual. Its the same old tired superbowl argument. Just plain dumb. This isnt tennis.
@@stevep8445 Not just an ignorant comment but a stupid one, you dont belong debating football
@@stevep8445what ur not comprehending is that he never had a DEFENSE,the other side of the ball matters, nor did he have a RB,the only back that he ever had that was a thousand yrs back was JABBAR in 96 and 97 and he barely broke 1,000 yards and it was at the end of Dan's career,he is top 5 in 4th qtr comeback wins for his career and even his WR'S besides Clayton and DUPER he only had a handful of just good ones, certainly no JERRY RICE EVER!!
I was at this game in 1994… it’s the only nfl game I have ever been to… what a wild game that was…. I got to meet marino kosar and many of the other dolphins at their practice the day before at giants stadium…. Great memory
Rough start for Marino but bounced back.. this man was a legend.
Watched this game on TV back then and I was amazed then (and still am) at the amount of veteran all pros that were on both teams who were from other teams. Both teams clearly were stacking to win division titles.
Jets had former Bengals QB Esiason, former 49er/Raider Ronnie Lott, former Cardinal Johnny Johnson, former Redskin Art Monk. Not sure... but wasn't Rob Moore (WR) a former Cardinal or was there where he went after his Jets career? I know Boomer goes there after...
Dolphins' receivers were both of former teams.. Irving Fryar (Pats) and Mark Ingram (Giants).
There might be some names I left out or forgot.. but that's a pretty good list of free agent pickups and ended up making for a very good game.
Back when they took snaps under center on obvious passing downs.
What quarterbacks still do that
Ibraheem Rao Ibraheem Rao the shotgun was invented by the Tom Landry Cowboys in the 1970s who used it a good amount (as did the Elway Broncos and Kelly K-Gun Bills) but some coaches banned it until 2007, the 07 Patriots convinced the last holdouts like Joe Gibbs and Mike Holmgren to adopt the shotgun, while a few other longtime holdouts such as Bill Parcells had already experimented with it some by then. Ironically the Cowboys later 1990s dynasty never used the shotgun even though Dallas invented it, because Norv Turner (their OC at the time) didn’t like it.
I thought this game was a loss to the Jets, but man that game was a comeback.
After this game, up until the firing of Richie Kotite after 1996 season, the Jets went 4-32.
Including a win in his very last game.
@Razh 80 lmao the NFL films team yearbooks on 1993 through 1996 was hilarious
Boomer was nasty 😕, honestly would be a HoF if his teams were better and as stacked as some other guys. He does have a MVP & AP Selection though.
I don’t like assigning QBs to wins like Pitchers, too many players have an impact on wins.
Yep. Boomer Esaison was the 1988 NFL MVP. That was the year he took the Bengals to the Super Bowl for the second and last time.
Agreed
Agreed. This is why the Brady talk is annoying... He has played on the best teams with the best coach... He didn't win 6 Super Bowls himself. Is he one of the all time greats? Of course! Is he the undisputable GOAT? No!
@@goatfucker5141 I'd say Brady is the indisputable GOAT. Tampa isn't even a playoff team without him. He also brought other talent because they want to play with him. Brady is like a player in the video game that is above average in nearly every QB metric, except running speed, but no metric in the top tier. Good enough arm. Good enough speed. Maybe high football IQ. Also exceptional winning attitude and unparalleled dedication.
powerful game , super cool
cool show
Fun watching this with no scrollers or "noise " on the screen
…Note to fellow Jet fans...The first 14:45 is what the Jets do to us many times...the rest of the video is ALWAYS how it ends up!

Marino is just amazing 🔥🔥
As a dolphin fan in California, I member this game like It was yesterday. Nothing but a heart attack in the last 5min of the game😄😄
#gophins
I will never understand why they never put the time or scoreboard on here old games. The man who cam up with the idea to add them is the greatest person alive in sports.
Mark Ingram went off ! 200 plus yards 4 tds!
Remmeberdd for giants career I always forget that
The 1st football game i ever watched 💯 also the day i became a Dolphins fan 😁
I always wondered Why was Marino’s jersey missing the 75th anniversary patch!
wait why??
U might b the only other person that I have seen mention that. Must have been damaged or misplaced on the road trip.
I remember this game obviously but I always thought of it as a 4:00 game, maybe because of how dark it was at the end with the overcast sky. I only now realize that it was actually an early game that day.
Boomer Esiason probably the most underrated QB from the mid-late 80's to mid 90's.
Art Monk as a Jet 😥
Watched this on my ship the USS Monongahela !! We were all flipping out !!
Nice to meet a fellow Navy man, I was in from 97-19.
@@josephnicolino8529 good to meet you my friend !! Lots of memories right !!
Boomer, Art Monk, Ronnie Lott... the 1993 Jets shoulda been named "Hey, shouldn't you be on another team?"

Dan Marino was the reason I became a Fins fan.
Amazing game
*I say this all the time but the dolphins need to go back to that logo and those jerseys!!*
Yea the new ones look terrible
Imagine a player today slapping a ref in approval of the spot of the ball
That turf was basically green painted cement smh
Wow 😮

Ugh this one still hurts
6:14 still weird seeing Art Monk in a Jets jersey.
I mean I guess its just nostalgia but man they hit harder back then

Kotite oc?
How did we lose this game? I was in middle school, I didn’t sleep that night
The dolphins we never get to see anymore 😩
Good game.
(I don't know what Esiason was thinking throwing that ball practically into the stands on that last one though -- and I don't think he knew either).
Great game though..
Talk about, Action Packed.
Nice one
(The best 16 minutes spent)
if the Jets kicked the short field goal in the 1st instead of going for it they would've only needed a fg at the end of the game
You see those records in the beginning? NEW ENGLAND was 5-2 at this point outside the division but 0-4 in division. That division used to be nasty. Its starting to be again
How is it that these standard-definition football games look better than the high-definition games broadcast today?
Yes sir MARINO!
Yea I was a huge Marino and Fins fan growing up,but it's funny Paul says That's the communication Marino has with Ingraham OR it's scripted and he knew what was coming, lol
That 13 in white can really sling it.
so did Brian Cox play on every AFC east team?
"You don't try that on good teams. You try that on the JETS, and it might actually WORK." -Gary Dell'Abate
10:29, what was he thinking?
Its too bad because this early 90's DEFENSE of MIAMI'S had some good pcs,COX,VINCENT,BOWENS,OLIVER but it was their DC Tom Olividotti that SHULA just wouldnt part ways with and it was no secret back then either but its a shame cuz if Shula had done that,Marino maybe would have at least gotten to another SB,ESPESIALLY in the 92 and 94 seasons!!
When they lost to Buffalo
It almost feels like Marino was toying with the Jets before he inevitably threw the winning touchdown pass. It's a shame Miami did not make better use of his prime years.
I was st that gsme
Classic Jets Dolphins shootout
I was at the game, the only NFL game I've attended in 50 years. I turned to my gf who knew nothing about football and said " Watch, he's going to throw the ball down to stop the clock. Then I turned back to watch the game and the ball was in the end zone...lol....I never saw it. After this game I think the Jets lost something like 15 straight games.
👍💪
Pete Stoyanovich should have given Pete Carroll the choke sign.
Like Todd Grantham did lmao
Honestly not sure why more teams don’t have a fake spike play. When time isn’t really pressing, having the receiver run out and the quarterback take a look makes sense. Throw it over his head if it isn’t there, it costs 2 seconds and could be a touchdown or another first down
Esiason was a better qb than people remember
0:12
Strange seeing Patriots at bottom of division
Who's here after marv albert just retired?
Lowkey weird seeing 5 teams per division. Kinda makes me wish there was another realignment in the divisions.
Why what's wrong with the current format.
@@ibraheemrao8434 Nothing. I just want a shake up to happen in the NFL lol. One could argue to bring a good team to the AFC east to go against the Patriots, but it's a little to late for that.
you would either have to add or remove teams for that to happen
3lement2010 they only realign when they expand, and the NFL had a goal throughout the 90s of reaching 32 teams. They aren’t interested in adding another at this point
The Bluff
Beginning with this loss and lasting through the end of the 1996 season, the Jets would wind up losing 33 of their next 37 games. Yikes.
While we're on the subject of clocks in the NFL this week( right, Cowboys fans? ;-p ), the Marino 'fake spike' was often referred to as 'The Clock Play' where they faked spiking the ball to stop the game clock & instead Marino fired the ball to Ingram in the endzone for the game-winning TD. Had the Jets won this game they would've pulled into a 1st place tie with the Dolphins in the AFC East. Instead, the 'Fins staged a dramatic comeback & would win the division at season's end.
Yayaya
Then After This Game The NY Jets Went Downhill!
