I bought the solar water fountain too and it quite literally sprinkles the water right out of the container. You need a very wide container to retain enough water. Also, if it does lose water and continues to run, the motor will burn up within 15 minutes. You have to keep an eye on this one.
@@robbiediles4242 yes. I bought two a d now cannot run either until I find a very low, very wide pot. But the power it gives it decent. And you can place it anywhere its sunny. Pro’s and cons. 😊

@@lindseyhendrix2405 I was disappointed because I bought one as a gift and she had to turn her’s off as well. I just need to find the proper-fitting bowl and it will be cool. But yeah, definitely buyer beware with this one!!
If it’s windy, the water gets blown out of the fountain and drains the water reservoir. Use the low/bubbler adapter to prevent it, not as pretty, but saves the pump.
@@patricianepa2474 Just want to add I use 2 White plastic bowls I bought at Dollar Tree. You could probably use any bowl or pot and spray paint the inside white. I was worried paint might be toxic to my birds that enjoy the fountain so I bought white bowls, they are thin plastic so I use two together. They are almost 12 inches wide and fit perfectly in my pot. I never run out of water. Normally every morning when I clean out the bowl it’s about an inch lower than the morning before. I use the bubbler that shoots the water about 4 to 6 inches high. It’s always breezy here so most of the other patterns blow out and empties the bowl. The white keeps the water cool so it hardly evaporates. Trust me it is hot here in Southern Nevada and the white bowl makes the difference. Sorry my post is so long. Lol
Mosquito Dunks work great. And they are safe for birds. Mosquito Bits also kill fungus gnats on houseplants. And sprinkling cinnamon of the top soil of houseplants (not wet soil) keeps fungus from growing.
It needs some sort of gravel for the bees to access it & I doubt birds will come so close to the house? Nice idea though, wish everyone was like you and understood our wildlife is declining rapidly and some serious help is needed.
I have that solar fountain and you have to refill the water about every hour to keep it full. Even If you use the attachment that doesn't sprinkle it out of the fountain it evaporates so fast....
I've already done this but I put strawberry plants around it! It's so pretty with the white flowers and I have strawberries all over. Red Green and White! So pretty and the bees love it too!
I've had several of those solar fountains. If you use those nozzles, the water shoots up and oversprays the container in no time. When you lose the water, the solar mechanism will burn out and break. You can use these fountains but WITHOUT the nozzle that makes it spray high. Without it, it will just create a soft bubbling which I prefer anyway (unless you have it in a huge pond!)
I bought a white plastic bowl from Dollar Tree to put the fountain in and inserted that into my top pot so it just goes up to the edge, leveled it with sand. I use the bubbler setting that spouts about 8 inches high. I live in the Vegas area and so far I only add water once a day and it’s never been less than half empty. The white bowl keeps the water cooler so it doesn’t evaporate very much. My fountain came with clear spacers that keep it centered and if the water runs out it automatically turns off.

Love this!!! I have the solar fountain and should warn that with the height of the fountain stream, the wind can pull all of the water out by noon lol. I took a small drill and widened the output a little and it was still a great look without running out of water 😊
Solar fountain proved to be too much, wind blows water away, needs constant refilling, droplets cause my flowers to burn, I think these fountains are best for pools and ponds but not practical for pots and urns.
This would be perfect for pollinators and a bird bath/drinking station. You can add rocks and/or a smaller bowl to make the water less deep and purchase/make a smaller fountain. Either way, it's beautiful!
Except that particular fountain pushes out the water roo high for a space/size of bowl you have shown. It will run dry in no time. I know- I have one for my pool. So get a fountain that you can adjust the flow of water😊
I like this particular solar powered fountain because it has sticks around it that help keep it in the middle of the container so that it doesn’t sprinkle outside of the container
The problem I discovered with this type is that unless the sides go straight down, at some point the solar fountain will stop descending along with the water level and suck air and die.
Just so everybody knows the solar fountain will only work while receiving full sun, otherwise it gives you sad spurts or nothing. Her mistake was filling the top area so low and not making a second one for water to run into
That is adorable! However my experience with this same solar fountain was that it shot water out of the container ,thus emptying it way too quickly! 😂😢
I use the solar fountain in my bird bath, but you need to choose the proper head, or it just drains all the water out. It lasted all summer and into fall. I just put it up for the winter otherwise it will still run.
I wish this was practical or long lasting...those flowers are going to either get scorched from the water droplets acting as a magnifying glass, turning the afternoon sun beams into death beams, or get wet rot...

They can’t live in moving water.
And timescale deposits .....etc etc

Right! I’m worried about the sun and water causing the leaves to burn
Use vinca, petunias or portulaca. They love sun and will trail down the pot.
