F1-Style Paddle Shifters On a shifter Kart Install DIY

The KX250 shifter kart is slowly coming together and today we install simple yet effective F1 inspired paddle shifters. These can be easily made for under 20 dollars from parts at the local hardware store. I also mention some upcoming news towards the end so stay tuned!

Your doing a great job.
I have driven both type of paddle shift some where the pedals are on the wheel and some where the paddles stay in place and the type where the paddles stay in place are 10 times better because you never have to look down or double guess yourself. If you put 2 tags for the cables on steering support bar and a of little bits tube to the centre of your shift mechanism to keep it in place you will have less wear and tear on your cables and your selector fingers in the gear box will last longer.
2 stroke can produce false neutral especially with worn selectors

really like it, for DIY paddle shifters, so far its one of the better ones ive seen built. On that note, something is definitely going to bounce up and hit that shifter bar off the engine and shift for you lol

You should invest in a plasma cuter it will make cutting that still a lot easier and make cleaner more precise Cuts than a cut off wheel on a grinder.

Nice to see creativity.
I seen a problem that you may have.
The engine pulling on the center of the axle will pull the axle towards the motor sprocket.
Putting a bearing by the rear sprocket and support that to the engine mount will stop the axle flex.

You should take a look at doing a pneumatic system for the shifter, it’s pretty simple just need a pump, tank, double acting piston and a solenoid valve.
