If you're like me and had a first model Switch, its a substantial upgrade. The built-in ethernet port helps in docked mode and the better screen & battery is perfect for handheld.
Agreed it’s definitely an upgrade, BUT the fact that the next Nintendo console might be right around the corner could deter people from from upgrading to the oled

@@jrob0021 I had one of the original Switches (the Mario Odyssey bundle), but that thing has seen some use over the years, so I bought the white OLED Switch when it first came out to replace it (and actually sold the old one for a couple hundred). It was an incremental upgrade, but the better display, better battery, LAN port, an actual useful stand, as well as the fact that it has 64 gigs of built-in storage instead of the 32 gigs the original Switch had, and it was actually worth it to me. Now, with the so-called "Switch 2" supposedly right around the corner, unless you really want a Switch right now or the one you have is pretty much dying and you need a replacement, it may be worth just waiting.

I find it odd that Nintendo went crazy with so many different 2DS/3DS variants and really toned it down by comparison with the Switch.

It's not too strange, when you consider their other massive success console, the Wii, also had almost zero special editions. I think it's actually the inverse, where a console that might not be doing too hot or is just having a lull in sales for a quarter, gets a special edition to give a bit of a injection to boost sales. Quarter after quarter the Switch is selling like hotcakes, so Nintendo likely sees little need for so many special releases.
3DS kept the save on the cartridge. So didn’t matter how many 3DS consoles you bought, they were interchangeable. They all functioned with the same save.
Switch you can only have 1 primary console and your save is stuck on the console you played on. Good luck convincing people to buy multiple consoles if they would need to save transfer every time they want to use a different switch, or split their library of games between consoles.

Only the joycons are of the original switch special edition, this one doesn't even say it is a special or limited edition on the box, so you can consider it a bundle with limited joycons, cause those weren't sold separately

The smash Joycons actually were sold separately on the Nintendo website for awhile througout the past two months. They’re out of stock now though.
Interesting. I got my Switch OLED Splatoon S.E. from Walmart last week for $300. Sure it didn’t come with a free game but I was pretty happy with only paying $300
I sold my v2 switch and bought an oled for $200 off of offer up with no regrets
Only got a new OLED as well. I had one of the firsts only 1 month or so out after release and WOW its a very big upgrade to before. Its incredible and wont regret it i think. Alone the screen is like 1000 better.

One thing I like most about the oled is they shrunk the bezel.
I always wanted the OLED version of the Switch, but after spending so much time tracking down my Animal Crossing version of the Switch, I think I'm set until the Switch 2!
2020 resell era was insane. Saw it sell constantly for over $600+! glad the prices came down eventually and those who wanted it were able to buy it.
I got mine for my girl around that time for less than half of that!
I bought this version recently as a family system as I primarily play PS5 but the ability of 1 system that can include so many people and be used on the go (we camp a lot during the summer) makes it worth every penny. As a dad and a gamer the fact it's sitting in the closet and I cant play it until xmas is maddening though, the cruel irony of being an adult I guess.
nah those grey joycons are like gold nowadays they literally stopped making them a few months ago, you can’t buy them anymore. i got the last pair at my target and didn’t know and took them back never to see a grey pair again
Imo, if you want a Switch OLED with a game, this bundle is great! You get more bang for your buck but if you want a special edition you're better off tracking down the original Smash S.E Switch that came with the Logo Joycons and a special dock
I'm pretty sure they just had an overstock of switches and decided to make 'special edition' bundles to boost sales.

I wish the OLED dock had the same pattern as the original model, sucks it's just a basic OLED with just Smash JoyCons. I would've even accepted the back of the Switch itself having some sort of pattern. Guess it's fine, but this would be a pass for me. Haven't upgraded to the OLED cause I play mainly docked so I don't really need an OLED. Should've had a performance boost, idc.
I can respect Nintendo and their switch honestly. The console has pleased the consumers to the point Nintendo hasn't had to release a brand new console for 6 years and have no plans on a future console currently
Spec wise is not that great, literally the Ps Vita could compete with it
The good thing about the switch is the games library, & that it actually feels like a handheld console...
but imo it needs an upgrade cuz some of the new releases are starting to struggle to run properly

I finally purchased my own switch Oled and dam I'm impressed and I can't belive I've missed out on nintendo so much. 1st night with it and dam. I'm super happy with it. The family loves it. Best part is that we all had fun and we look forward to it.
Meanwhile oled steam deck came out with 30+ improvements and features they didn’t even market

@@yaboysix It depends heavily on the game. You'll easily get 3 hours on your favorite AAA games and many games can last over the 10 hour mark.
Here is a switch buying guide: If you want something that is something like 3ds buy the switch lite, if you want all the features of a switch and also cheaper buy the regular switch, if you want a good screen buy the switch oled
When it comes to the OLED switch I feel like I haven’t really been blown away by their special editions. I bought the launch white one (mostly because I wanted it to look better on my stand while docked next to my PS5) and have never really seen any of the special editions I’d have liked better. Feels like nintendos just throwin this out for holiday knowing the lifespan of the switch is on its way out

Something I've often wondered. I'm sure many already know and have an instant answer, but with so many things interchangeable between the classic/original version Switch and the Switch OLED I have to wonder if the docks are the same and/or can at least be used with each other?
They’re slightly different, but yeah I’m 95% sure I’ve used my oled switch with a regular dock before

The main difference is the lan port on the OLED, but otherwise they're essentially the same

I bought a Mario Edition Switch OLED two Sundays ago and I don't regret it.
Last couple of years I been playing on my Switch Lite so now being able to play all on my games on a TV makes me excited 😅
Also, I'm not worrying about Nintendo releasing a new console new years or 2025 because I don't buy consoles the 1st year anymore. I'd much rather see and wait for them to fix any hardware Issue.

I brought a mario bros "special edition" for my son. Only difference was it had 2 red joycons! It doesnt even have mario on it anywhere. Atleast it had the game.
The console and dock are also red. The dock has coins on it as well.
Was gonna buy this bundle, decided to spend the extra money and buy the steam deck oled limited.

@@ghosttiee9212 I wasn't said i was gonna buy this bundle but decided to fork the extra money and but the new steam deck oled, meaning not worth it at this point, specially for the price, if they had lowered then yea maybe. But with devices like the steam deck oled you get more bang for your buck for a couple hundred bucks more if you go for the mid tier steam deck for example.

Abt the comparison with the screen brightness 7:09 :the brain can be deceived pretty easily for example Color can have a different brightness depending what’s AROUND it. In short that means we perceive a darker brightness on the switch above because it has black joy cons(every one with a phone you guys can even try it by holding your fingers above the joy cons and watch how similar the brightness is)

The lack of any new texture or branding on these special edition switch indicates that the company is just trying to sell all remaining stock for next gen console release, just making cardboard special edition and keeping the console bare

Very disappointing bundle. When I saw the Splatoon OLED I jumped on it. The details on the joycons, console and dock got me. Plus I love splatoon. Would of been dope to customize it smash bros style beside just the joycons. My smash character is Kirby, Ness and Lucas.

I learned that special edition Nintendo switch oled’s not sure about other special editions for different switch systems like the lite and base Nintendo switch the oled special editions can fade over time so might as well get a regular switch oled for a good deal even due to screen manufacturer errors so you can change the console on your own
I just got the Mario Oled Switch! The red is more of an orange, and I love orange and thought red was close enough, lol. You should check that one out sometime it has a nice dock. - Luke
The Oled switch has the best graphical feel against all the versions. Gameplay sound and screen a bit heavy on the handheld side but the dock compensates for it.

Wow, Nintendo didn’t even make any effort with this super smash Bros edition switch. This really makes me appreciate my switch, OE, Mario, red edition, which didn’t even come with a game.
OLED is cool it’s much better than the lite and the normal switch I got the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Edition.
The screen is magnificent!

If i got the oled i would mod the joycons to have hall sensor joysticks and add a screen protector and a 1 tb microSD card for storage to the console

i tried to get the kickstand up for mario kart not too long ago and i ended up chipping at the foam on it with a screwdriver and still didn't get it open

Picked a 2nd hand regular OLED model (whit controllers) Pokémon eve with box, dock and controller dock for $260 last week
I sold my Og switch because the battery was dying. And I was playing it. My
4 yr old just got a switch light from his uncle and he doesn’t play it along side the ps4 I gave him since I have the 5 but I miss my switch. Wish I just sold the switch alone and had upgraded to the oled. Wish I kept all my physical games and accessories because the prices are still very high. I had all the good stuff. 2 pro controllers a few sets of joy cons with charging remote that holds them both and a few others that where all official Nintendo products. 😢 should’ve atleast kept my accessories. Then I could just get the red oled Mario version which i really like but at 350 it’s insane imo.
This so weird to me. You asked why they release a smash switch since this game is like 5 years old. Yeah most people who buy a switch are actually not having one and if you want one with smash why not get the bundle? I really don't get the point of this video. Why should it be different to any other oled switch lol

@@ghosttiee9212well what a way to generalize. Lol at home can't beat the ps5 with the LG c2 TV. The switch is my portable gaming device & the lite has all the same specs but fits in my pocket way better & the smaller screen makes the resolution look better & with an oled it would be better outside & look better as far a resolution because of the smaller screen. Imo the switch lite is underrated.
The lite makes me feel like a kid playing my gameboy advanced again and the games are great. Wonder & totk were really good.

I just got a switch oled and metroid prime remastered along with metroid dread and zelda breath of the wild. I am so happy with it i know i am late to the party.

Even though that new screen and fresh better battery is tempting, my launch model switch is too pimped to want to leave it behind; its got an emerald green translucent shell, hall sticks, metal locks. Even the dock shell is pimped with some totk theme casing, green and gold matches the emerald green joycons and shell. Its a beaut.

Yep OLED SWITCH is the BEST! I own a gaming PC, PS5, XBOX SERIES S, but I see myself playing on my SWITCH so much often as I could play while laying down. I have modded my Switch so I could download any games I could for FREE and I just enjoy them. Connect a pair of earbuds or headset and get gaming while laying down. I love handheld.
Only reason to buy this is if your old switch dies.

As oled becomes more standardized, this reminds me of GBA, to front lit SP ags 001 , to finally SP ags 101 with the backlit screen.
