Can't agree more with the use of strings section, backing vocals and of course Aahad Nayani. It's a pleasure to listen to his drumming every single time. One more thing in my opinion which makes CS Pakistan so special is their use of folk music (for example, Par Chanaa De, Sammi meri waar, Aaya laariye) and the way they recreate these songs by keeping the soul intact.
That drummer is awesome , he plays with so much feeling. He improvise with song's feelings, lyrics , he complements each phrases with so much feel. I never listened a drummer like him who could create feelings with his beat .

After Coke Studio 14, Pakistan has proven once again that they're the best when it comes to making versatile and amazing music. Even their Nescafe Basement is top notch. Props to Rohail Hyatt, Noori, Strings, and Xulfi, they've outdid themselves in every next episode.
Indie Indian singers are producing great songs but they really need a consistent platform like CS or Nescafe Basement.
Also, Bollywood needs to be stopped at all costs 'cause they're ruining masterclass songs that once used to define not only India, but the whole subcontinent. Destroying our childhood!

FARHAD HUMAYUN was one of the best drummers Pakistan ever had! He also sang songs for coke studio such as 'neray aah', 'mahi' amazingly......He recently passed away! RIP

unnecessary trivia: Rohail Hayat was the main composer and the keyboard guy of "Vital Signs" the band that performed and produced numerous all-time hits including "Dil Dil Pakistan", "Aitbaar", "Dol Pal Ka Jeevan" and many many more beautiful tunes.
I think I am very late on this vlog, but I think the biggest difference in Coke Studio Pakistan and Coke Studio India is the difference between the overall structure of our music industry and Pakistani music industry. Indian music industry is generally an offshoot of the Bollywood/tollywood/etc. with a very small presence of independent music. The way most of the Indian producers and arrangers approach a song is vastly different from how they do it in Pakistan.

Strings band itself is legend.Strings leave their magic in everything they touch. They have produced music which anybody would like and love to listen.
But Rohail Hayyat on the other hand is a genius. His music targets a specific pole of audience. He has produced some melodies that are probably irreplaceable.
Agree with you on Coke Studio Pakistan. I personally preferred Rohail Hyatt over Strings. While strings' compositions were great too, sometimes they felt too disjointed, and some elements were not needed, and were just added for the sake of innovation. Rohail's compositions were so simple yet beautiful, had some great continuity to them, and everything blends in so beautifully. 90% of my favorite songs are Rohail's.

During the time when coke studio was produced by strings, 2 more very remarkable people were involved in music production and brain storming. Jaffer Zaidi from the band Kaavish, who gave us legendary songs like Naina Moray. Then there was the Noori band who was involved in most of the coke studio songs especially during the last seasons and can be seen in the BTSs.
The starting song composition is also very good and singing also

String's "Duur" live is one of the bests live performance I've ever seen on CZcams.
I prefer more season 1 to 6 where Rohail Hayat was the producer. And there was the legendary drummer Gumby. Their songs were legendary.

I guess the use of sarangi in chaudhary, guitar in madari and sarangi again in allah hi reh were phenomenal according to me. But you are right, strings are not used so much in our coke studio.
