Fr now it seems like most (Benson Boone and Nicky Youre being some exceptions imo) mainstream songs I hear are sad (mainly talking about the sound, I don’t mind sad lyrics most times), bland, low energy (almost sounds like they’re whispering sometimes) and/or repetitive to the point of annoyance… I mean, really, how people can enjoy that “I like the way you kiss me” song is beyond me. Wanna go back to the time where happy, high energy and great melodies ruled!
It’s weird cause on one hand, the world itself has always been the same. This was during the time of the BP Oil Spill, Syrian Civil War, Afghanistan, Haiti Earthquake, Japan Earthquake, etc. the same fears were there But it’s like the collective culture always changes, and maybe due to quarantine, at least in the U.S., the current outlook is depressing and pessimistic. Take a look at the 90s, the optimism was not because it was a better time, but technology was advancing so fast that it seemed like it would eventually take us all out of the “hellhole” that was the current world, but obviously, it never did.
I actually prefer 2020s music so far(in terms of popular songs). There's more variety and experimentation. The early 2010s were really really upbeat and the late 2010s overly sad. I feel like we're in a nice middle ground now.
You should do a video compilation of the specific guitar riff EVERY song from the 2010s started with ie: die young (kesha) , just dance (lady gaga) , good feeling (flo rida) , countinh stars (one republic) , etcc. ❤
the point of 'young and beautiful' was wondering if you'll be loved the same when you're not young anymore 😭i wouldnt classify that as obsessed over youth, its more just being a victim of other peoples obsession with it
