I recently just became an Automaton main just because i absolutely despise getting stun locked by stalkers and hunters, with Terminids it feels like i engage a patrol then it becomes an endless feedback loop of breaches, whereas with Automatons it feels like it's genuinely just a skill issue on my part, currently I'm Lvl 10 running Jump Pack with AM Rifle Airstrike and Rocket Pods, the only thing I'm stuck on is how to take out Bot Outposts quickly, especially with heavy outposts cause they have 4 fabricators all in different angles and positions
Yeah, bots are great to fight, really make you feel like a commando. For Heavy Outposts, I usually work my way around the perimeter wall, there's often a couple fabricators you can nade, then use eagle airstrikes for any fabricators that are kinda grouped together, and pods for single fabricators. You shouldn't really have to actually step inside the base unless everything's on cooldown.
if you hate stalkers then use fire breaker or punisher, they either die or get stunlocked then die. Hunter problem means you're lacking swarm clear tools like rover, lmg, shotguns, nade launchers etc. Mounted HMG can single handedly plug up 2 to 3 bug breaches provided you got teammates to cover against heavies or you just sweep the trash before evaccing the hmg
Personally I hate the bots because I don't like playing stealthily, and I love turrets. It's nearly impossible to fight the bots head on, especially with turrets. Me and my turrets will just get one shot by random projectiles. With the bugs, I can just overwhelm them with turrets

Funny enough, I've been using a similar build lately. The Spear is good anti-tank but, against bots, it's actually really great at objective control. Being able to one shot fabricators from a distance and simply walk away is really valuable. Also, when the spear actually decides to lock on, it's also good for getting rid of tank towers. Only problem I regularly have is Hulks because the spear needs the right angle to actually kill them. That said, I've been running stun grenades. Just stub a Hulk, run behind him and kill him with whatever weapon you got.
Right, with the spear for fabricators you can take stun nades for sure, makes the hulk kills very straightforward. Hitting the hulk from the front with the spear seems to work well, but you need the distance which can be tricky.
I find it really intriguing that my solo build looks almost the same as yours, even though i've never seen any videos of your channel. The only thing different is that i use railgun instead of 500kg. Really intresting how we developed the same strategy.
The most efficient setups reveal themselves to us all...I ran the railcannon a lot as well, but 500kg comes in handy for detector towers (and now those ATAT walkers too)
I’m going to miss the bots. I much prefer them to bugs. I never thought to use the SPEAR against buildings like that. Great footage. In and out like the SAS or something lol.
I was curious about the spear from your title video because I enjoy the spear.. but in my game, it really track at all. Hulk, jammer, tank, etc. It feels you need to be on the same sea level to get a chance it track. I really hope they will fix it soon.
Thank god someone is actually playing this game with some amount of tactical consideration. I'm so sick of all the brainless troopers who run directly into a fight, guns blazing, no cover, no plan or even a basic understanding of what they are getting themselves or the rest of the team into. Kudos.
Kinda similar loadout, I prefer the AC for it's ammo efficiency (at the cost of requiring an angle for fabricators, but it's ability to snipe anti-air/mortars and hulks makes up for it). I also run 380mm barrage instead of 500kg. Not as accurate, but I just love the spectacle, and it takes down detectors/AT-AT as efficiently.
Yeah, AC just covers so many roles, it's hard to not run at least one in a team. I like the barrages too! Bit RNG for a solo run but I'll take it for coop.
How's the Senator treating you, Spiked? I haven't purchased it yet so I'm looking for an opinion. Guessing it's better vs bots rather than vs bugs but is the accuracy/damage/rate of fire feeling decent to the point where you're willing to consider it a viable replacement for the uzi?
I always take it for bots, it drops those troopers fast and with better accuracy at range. Being able to one-shot troopers with bodyshots counts for a lot. Against bugs the 6 shots and slow reload isn't really worth it though!
Been trying it out for bugs too, can be a lot of fun in coop. Been doing evacution missions just hanging out on the landing pad, striking Titans on the other side of the base.
so how if at all would you change the build with todays equipment? I got the scorcher yesterday and I'm a bit underwhelmed tbh (which probably also comes down to me not being a good shot). would love for you to revisit this build sometime. spear4life
Hmm...not too much tbh, I still think the Scorcher is the best primary for taking on Scout Striders and Heavy Devastators through their shields. Plasma Shotgun can work too, and if you're happy aiming for the leg joints on Striders, the Dominator and Diligence CS can put themselves in the conversation. Ultimately you need a primary that can handle everything else when the Spear is such a specialist weapon!
Yo Spiked, another nice video. I've been thinking. You want to do a duo all clear no death game at some point? Wanna see how fast we can clear out the map and extract between the two of us. I reckon 15 mins max. (20 including extract)
They should make an achievement for this, and it would be the hardest achievement and called "helldiver" or something dramatic. 100% a mission alone on helldive difficulty
This looks easy on paper. Problem is, this can be considered contrived/taking many attempts because *somehow* the Spear chose to lock on when it should. Normally it doesn't do that
@@newspiked7385 I had a moment of *perfection* of sitting on a rock with 5 fabricators on lower ground about 200-300 meters away in an open field. One lock. One. That didn't want to finish locking
@@newspiked7385 I'm on PC using mouse and keyboard as well. When I move my mouse right, my character turns right too. However, it looks like you can still run in the same direction while moving the camera angle. I even saw you move the camera angle facing what's behind you while still running forward. When I try to do that, I end up having to run backwards which is a lot slower when being pursued by mobs.
@@dsuh4100 You shouldn't be running backwards unless you're holding down ADS to aim, character movement should be purely on WASD. You can maintain the same movement by just adjusting your movement keys (WASD) while you turn with your mouse, but you should never be backpedalling unless you're aiming your gun behind you.
Also when you have the SMG main weapon or the SMG Pistol you can shoot them while running and wont stop, he just turns around while running and shoots... while the other weapons make him turn around completly and you are slower
That's my secret...I don't lol. Even in this run it fails to lock on to a fabricator in plain sight. Checking whether the targets in the first person sights can help sometimes, but even then it's temperamental.
The Spear demands you be at right angles to building targets. Don't be too far below, don't go at an angle, and don't let anything block it even if that thing is a leaf. Often a frontal sight wont work either. I suspect this is why you only get good locks on the towers from far away, you're otherwise just too low for the Spear to see it.
The only times I use stealth is when avoiding patrols or small groups around POIs. Other than that, I mainly just overwhelm them with so much firepower that they turn to glass. I always bring Orbital laser, Eagle airstrikes and the autocannon. Usually run the sickle and impacts too. I die a couple of times maybe, but I get the entire mission done, with a decent amount of samples too.
I missed it too, ha. My first run with the Spear I actually did use the Diligence, got the deathless all clear but it was kinda messy. Having to use impact nades for walkers or running around to shoot them meant I couldn't really recommend it as build :P. Works great with a more general purpose support weapon tho!
How often does a Helldive roll this way for you? You get a bot drop with 1 dropship - 3 striders and some scrub robots. I get 3-4 dropships with hulks, devastators, tanks oh my. A lot of variety in the enemy response!
Pretty sure you can use the scorcher to kill gattling gun turrets, tank turrets, tanks and hulks by shooting them in the vents! Just in case you didn't know! (5:25)
After seeing this man’s first two attempts to throw a grenade into a fabricator vent I know understand how he got so good at stealth lol bro had no choice
The Spear is a powerful weapon, but the targeting is horrendous, they should give it the same settings the give orbital targeted gun, pick the biggest target.
The spear can lock and shoot at your maximum draw distance, you can pop fabs, objectives and turrets well over 350m away....assuming the lock on decides to work... Sadly thats its only gimmick. It cannot track close or mid range targets and takes 2 shots to kill a hulk unless you hit the rear vent. The lock on really does need fixing to be less buggy lol
You can one shot hulks from the front as well, with enough range, if you fire head on it'll hit the eye slot - but yeah 2 is more likely. It's also very good for gunships and can supposedly 2-shot Factory Striders, so there's that. Definitely needs a little work to the lock-on tho to make it more intuitive.

This makes spear look so good
I try :P
I find it really intriguing that my solo build looks almost the same as yours, even though i've never seen any videos of your channel. The only thing different is that i use railgun instead of 500kg. Really intresting how we developed the same strategy.
The most efficient setups reveal themselves to us all...I ran the railcannon a lot as well, but 500kg comes in handy for detector towers (and now those ATAT walkers too)
@@newspiked7385500 kg can drop detector towers?
The main advantage of 500 over railgun is the former is an Eagle strike xd
That sneak past the bots felt like I was watching a MGSV video. Lol.
Was just waiting for my codec to start ringing
@@newspiked7385 😂
That wreckage did you dirty tho lmao
I’m going to miss the bots. I much prefer them to bugs. I never thought to use the SPEAR against buildings like that. Great footage. In and out like the SAS or something lol.
Love fighting both races for their different playstyles tbh, I do feel like the Bot stuff is a little rarer to find in coop games tho!
I was curious about the spear from your title video because I enjoy the spear.. but in my game, it really track at all. Hulk, jammer, tank, etc. It feels you need to be on the same sea level to get a chance it track. I really hope they will fix it soon.
Yeah. It's on their known issues at least, so they're on it

Good shit homie
love ur vids
Thank god someone is actually playing this game with some amount of tactical consideration. I'm so sick of all the brainless troopers who run directly into a fight, guns blazing, no cover, no plan or even a basic understanding of what they are getting themselves or the rest of the team into. Kudos.
Playing with those guys is the real max difficulty :P
As someone mentioned if I want to play strat and stealth I can go MGS 5, maybe the game should have some fun and let you gun blaze for glory too.
21:40 Tank: hewwo! uwu
_loudest noise imaginable_
I love this suit this is my favorite ,use more❤
Dang great run 👍👍
Kinda similar loadout, I prefer the AC for it's ammo efficiency (at the cost of requiring an angle for fabricators, but it's ability to snipe anti-air/mortars and hulks makes up for it).
I also run 380mm barrage instead of 500kg. Not as accurate, but I just love the spectacle, and it takes down detectors/AT-AT as efficiently.
Yeah, AC just covers so many roles, it's hard to not run at least one in a team. I like the barrages too! Bit RNG for a solo run but I'll take it for coop.
WHAT A SKILL
With the "right" teammates you could make a Suicide Mission feel like a Helldive
Lol...with all the people complaining my helldives look too easy compared to their experience on lower difficulties, I believe it
You make it look so easy
How's the Senator treating you, Spiked? I haven't purchased it yet so I'm looking for an opinion. Guessing it's better vs bots rather than vs bugs but is the accuracy/damage/rate of fire feeling decent to the point where you're willing to consider it a viable replacement for the uzi?
I always take it for bots, it drops those troopers fast and with better accuracy at range. Being able to one-shot troopers with bodyshots counts for a lot. Against bugs the 6 shots and slow reload isn't really worth it though!
Spear fr goated for stealth. Taking out automaton bases from upwards of 100m away (given it decides to lock)
Been trying it out for bugs too, can be a lot of fun in coop. Been doing evacution missions just hanging out on the landing pad, striking Titans on the other side of the base.
Please mark the no-comment videos in the title. I really enjoy your commentary.
Think I hit the character limit already on a lot of those titles :/ but yeah, anything from before the Tachanka vid has no commentary.
so how if at all would you change the build with todays equipment?
Great vid. Unfortunately it does not bring samples
Reminds me of the time when I was soloing the cyborgs and aliens in helldivers 1 and got both capes, they was so cool and challenging
Yo Spiked, another nice video.
I've been thinking. You want to do a duo all clear no death game at some point?
Wanna see how fast we can clear out the map and extract between the two of us.
I reckon 15 mins max. (20 including extract)
That'd be cool! Probably very quick for a bot mission, yeah, if we split off and meet at extract. How'd you want to send me an invite?

They should make an achievement for this, and it would be the hardest achievement and called "helldiver" or something dramatic. 100% a mission alone on helldive difficulty
He is THAT lvl.50 player❤
New level cap is 150 now, I'm just a scrub :P
Another amazing solo run 🧎
God if they fixed the spear lock on I would run it ALL the time for bots
💯 With a few tweaks it could be perfect.
Probably intentional, then. The devs want variety
You make this look insanely easy.
I love Spear
Thats him
Thats John Helldiver
This looks easy on paper. Problem is, this can be considered contrived/taking many attempts because *somehow* the Spear chose to lock on when it should. Normally it doesn't do that
Fix the lockon, and the Spear would be picked so much more.
@@newspiked7385 I had a moment of *perfection* of sitting on a rock with 5 fabricators on lower ground about 200-300 meters away in an open field. One lock. One. That didn't want to finish locking
@@jpjfrey5673 ;_;
Spear is trully amazing support weapon against bots, against bugs I still prefer RR or EAT
Yeah, definitely. Chargers and Bile Titans generally get too close to lock on reliably.
Master Helldiver
I have managed to fire the spear a total of 3 times with 76 hours of play... buff the lockon already!
💯
Amazing! How do you turn your camera angle when you’re running? I always turn my body to face the direction which slows me down when I’m running away
I just adjust my movement while I turn the camera with my mouse. You using controller?
May the winds of freedom guide you upon wings of liberty, toward the lands of democracy.
this is so good, im definitely subbing, do you have any vids on the mechanics of stealth in this game?
Thanks! No dedicated stealth guide yet, might take me a little more time to write up a script, but it's been requested a few times.
That rocket trooper at 4:50 woulda been the end of you. If it hadn't killed itself.
I mean...clearly it was my totally precise suppressing fire that caused him to fire into the wall next to him, so I think I should get the kill.
Bro this is sick, but how on earth do you get your spear to be so consistent?
That's my secret...I don't lol. Even in this run it fails to lock on to a fabricator in plain sight. Checking whether the targets in the first person sights can help sometimes, but even then it's temperamental.
The Spear demands you be at right angles to building targets. Don't be too far below, don't go at an angle, and don't let anything block it even if that thing is a leaf. Often a frontal sight wont work either. I suspect this is why you only get good locks on the towers from far away, you're otherwise just too low for the Spear to see it.
I felt the pain of that first airstrike on extraction lol
Swing and a miss :P
The only times I use stealth is when avoiding patrols or small groups around POIs. Other than that, I mainly just overwhelm them with so much firepower that they turn to glass. I always bring Orbital laser, Eagle airstrikes and the autocannon. Usually run the sickle and impacts too. I die a couple of times maybe, but I get the entire mission done, with a decent amount of samples too.
Whatever works!
I miss your diligence gun lol.
I missed it too, ha. My first run with the Spear I actually did use the Diligence, got the deathless all clear but it was kinda messy. Having to use impact nades for walkers or running around to shoot them meant I couldn't really recommend it as build :P. Works great with a more general purpose support weapon tho!
I really want to try out the spear now for solo missions, even if the lock on is janky
I never know how good of a spear until I saw this video. Good job Helldivers I’ll salute you for this knowledge. 🫡
How often does a Helldive roll this way for you? You get a bot drop with 1 dropship - 3 striders and some scrub robots. I get 3-4 dropships with hulks, devastators, tanks oh my. A lot of variety in the enemy response!
RNG do be like that sometimes. You can see some nasty drops and some nice ones across my different vids!
Pretty sure you can use the scorcher to kill gattling gun turrets, tank turrets, tanks and hulks by shooting them in the vents! Just in case you didn't know! (5:25)
Yup! I just felt like hellbombing the place I think.
@@newspiked7385 Nice, I feel you, hellbombs are just that cool
After seeing this man’s first two attempts to throw a grenade into a fabricator vent I know understand how he got so good at stealth lol bro had no choice
Lol it's that damn angle. I've had some nutty full courters, honest, but that particular angle always get me :P
The Spear is a powerful weapon, but the targeting is horrendous, they should give it the same settings the give orbital targeted gun, pick the biggest target.
Its him, John Helldiver
