Galaxy A54 vs Pixel 7A Speed Test - In this video we compare arguably the two best mid-range smartphone offerings for Spring 2023! Share your thoughts below and enjoy the content :)
I'd be down for a regular comparison vid between these two! Like you said, Speed is only the start....
@aromatic_air what is the A54s?
You can't really enjoy the A54's 120Hz display, because it shows you like 3 seconds of scrolling in 120Hz and then it has to load the upcoming page. So it's 120Hz and then stutter - repeatedly. On the pixel it's "just" 90Hz, but continuous
Nick, you should turn off auto rotate on home screen from the notification panel toggle so that it doesnt always turn into landscape mode whenever you close a game
I've try that , nothing change. samsung should focus on fix their os instead of putting more customization. btw I'm using s22plus
just turn off the "switch to landscape mode" item in the launcher settings
@@billcollectorsillycatblawgi have s22 no problem😂 verry smooth
That's a band-aid solution to an animation bug. Others phones have the ability to go landscape as well and don't sequentially show broken UI layouts while switching from one layout to another.
nick or any1 , the kinda redish yellowish look on the pixels app bar, can that be done manually? does it depend on the wallpaper pic ? cause it looks sooooo dope and eye friendly
Amazing speedtest👍
Ive used both, Pixel 6A and A53. And even at 120 Hz, the A53 is miles behind the 6A in terms of smoothness and general software experience. The same story with these 2. Im baffled when folks like MKBHD complain about 60Hz on Pixel and suggest the A53 as a better option😂
Samsung shuts all major yiutubers by giving 🍪
The software support along throughout your pixel in the garbage
Using a pixel right now , love it's performance
Pixel 6a and 7a are garages
That's cause, the "big" CZcamsrs are usually paid by the company to spout bs. This is why I stopped watching these CZcamsrs. A guy having a small amount of subscribers covers more genuinely.
I'm kinda disappointment over the fact that, many of these big tech CZcamsrs that I used to like when they were not that big, turning out to be biased. Guess, money talks.
Love the video bro
Avid phone purchaser and researcher here.
I think it’s also important to point out the refurbished market. Can get a Pixel 7 refurbished or even brand new on sale for the same cost as these, or a Pixel 6 for half the price, or pixel 6a for 1/3 the price. Still all tensor processors.
On Samsung end, you could get a s21 ultra refurbished. Or regular s21 for half the price. Way better cameras, snapdragon processors, wireless charging, and more.
For an iPhone user in this price range I would recommend a excellent condition iPhone 12, or if you’re looking for a little older , maybe closer to $250, get an 11.
Bought a used S21 for a song, here. I'd get the s21+ or Ultra used, if I had to do it again. Cheap as chips, though. Smooth and fast.
I really like your videos
Nick, I would love it if u test phones with mediatek chipset. That chipset is quite fast and efficient but not as powerful as the snapdragon chipset. So why don't you run a speed test between phones running mediatek chipset and snapdragon chipset. Trust me it would be fun.
I agree. The Mediatek Dimensity chip is very smooth. I have some cheap phones with it that I find myself using quite often for basic things like phone calls, text messaging, and apps like Lyft and Uber. I wouldn't try to play game on those phones, but other than that purpose, they're great phones.
Apart from S series, OneUI is very laggy.
u r very wrong
It’s laggy in everything except S23 series
All A phones should have one ui core like the lowest end budget A phones do for a smoother experience.
@@tomkostolom6559 it's going smooth on my S21, I've owned that phone for 2 yrs
@@engineer_alv It’s laggy for me on S22 and was on my S20 FE that I had before that.

King of comparison is back
Oh wow the Pixel is really smooth. Now, does it remain smooth qhen the phone heats up? Because my Pixel 2 XL would get SUPER slow and laggy back in the days, unfortunately
i got the 6a and when it heats up, when its summer.. and mostly with insta, it still works the same, doesnt effect the speed of the phone
Nick, please do a speed test on Samsung A52s 5G v Pixel 7
I'm all for Poco F5 vs Pixel 7A
Would love to see Nothing phone 1 vs these
7a way better phone better procesor, camera way better, speakers, software, haptics, and more. nothing phone is better at 120hz, design, and charging only, battery is better on pixel I think to, get the pixel 7a, better phone! but it's little more expensive now
Look at them bezels on the 7a and gosh even with the navigation gestures a whole white line 😅
Nick, S23 FE ? True or no?
I am upgrade to pixel 7a from pixel 6a I prefer pixel as I am a first time users of pixel I heard fantastic news about pixel I had I phones Samsung Oppo LG I have now a I phone 14 and upgraded to pixel 7@ looking forward to it
Do a speedtest between poco and pixel 7a
Performance from snapdragon Chipset is way better than any Exynos, I'll take a plastic frame and back anyday just pair them with a Snapdragon chip
The 7a has the g2 chip, a chip 10% better than exynos
nick .. listen to meee naauu as Arnie would say lol ..Samsung SUX with gestures .. can u try to redo the test using the key buttons? also , would be nice to see a 7a vs 6a test
They work alright on the S series. My S21 has been setup on gesture mode since new and they're smooth and responsive. It looks like the other series have a less responsive haptic feedback
I liked actually the stock android for some time for its clean look and smooth animation but realized that it's boring and after using MIUI for example I liked so many apps that you can not find on a stock android. So depends if you want smooth animation or specific native features
Which features did you like from MIUI?
@@Hiiiro love the music app. Animations. Some other native apps like calculator and recorder etc
@@Hiiirosecond spaces, multiple windows, inbuild video editor
A big help is to enable developers options and change Window animation and Transition Animation to 0, and Animator duration scale to .5 (so you keep your lock screen movement). Makes the phone really zippy and cures a lot of the occasional jerkiness.
No, that's just because it doesn't show the animation properly.
Like I get your point, because I have been doing this trick since last 3-4 years, but if the phone feels choppy, it's choppy.
Setting the animation to 0.5x just makes it that much difficult to spot that spot that lag and thus feels faster.
Eww I hate the lack of animations, it looks so janky to me
@@pulaktrivedi9743 A lot of these animations are superfluous. They just aren't necessary. People want to get around faster. Removing this animation means fewer CPU cycles, less work on the GPU, etc. It feels faster. There is no magic to it. Anyone is welcome to try it and change it back if they don't like it.

Durability for pixel?
After having owned 1 Samsung phone(s21 fe) and 3 Pixels(5a, 6, & 6a), one issue I never see most tech CZcamsrs address is connectivity. Samsung is more reliable in cell reception and basic connectivity where Pixels really struggle. My Pixels didn’t lag on everyday tasks but I had text message issues with them not going through or receiving. Phone calls were ok but low volume and I’d get a few dropped calls here or there. I’d randomly have the smart call screening feature screening legit calls as spam. Sometimes I outright didn’t get calls and they forwarded straight to voicemail. Also, Pixels are notorious for having many random software bugs and glitches. Samsung may have its own issues but they’re mostly reliable. Pixels are very nice but struggle on connectivity so in that regard, I’d give the edge to the A54. Many have said with Android 14 and the newest OneUI update, the A54 runs smooth and some have claimed no issues since the beginning. You won’t say that with any Pixel phone because you’re only one update away from total disaster.
Poco F5 Pro vs Pixel 🔥
The fact that best buy crashed on both phone may mean the app has real issues
My iPhone 13 with 256 gb has never reloaded or crashed or acted weird not once in a year now 😊
It is a flagship phone lol what do you expect. My iPhone SE 2020 however lags and stutters regularly.
@@OXIR but your iphone is a flagship machine too ... iPhones rarely lag n act up ... Maybe you overloaded it yet that still shouldn't cause it to lad n stutter ...

Best Google Pixel 👑💗
Just realized something.....
If they would go back to making the phones Bigger (s23 ultra size or 7 inches) then there would be no OVER HEATING problems.... Smaller sometimes ain't better.
Poco F5 vs Pixel pleaseee!
The S23, is the only Samsung that I would buy.
Pixel is like a flagship close to it like Samsung a23 fe is flagship and midrange together
You forget the camera quality of the pixel
I feel the pixel is a real midranger while the Samsung is a sub midranger... 😊
Nah more like Samsung is a fake midranger
@@not.ziad1 true can be that too ...
All Samsung A line is trash because it lags I have a71 and I replaced operating system with pixels one(guide is on CZcams) and it's a lot better it still lag a little but it's a whole new experience.
@@ruda8502 true yes sadly so
@@ruda8502
They're not trash
+ but what did you expect from a snapdragon 730g 💀💀💀
Before switching to iPhone I was with Samsung mid-rangers and flagships and I cannot lie, the experience was persistently horrendous and using almost any 3rd party app was just shambles....Samsungs just endlessly crash and lad, apps don't load properly and when one of them literally exploded within warranty they refused to fix it...I will never go Samsung again in a million years- the last device I ever used was the A52S 5G and it was horrible.... The Pixel on the other hand...WOW...I would happily happily switch back to Android for the Pixel just because of how great they are. Love it
Looks like best buy app for Android is buggy
this speed test confirms my Nothing Phone 1 is a better deal or at least a serious option to think. 3 years OS Updates / 4 years Security Updates
Well I think the problem for the Nothing Phone 1 is that it hasn't been widely sold in the US, and thus doesn't really get as much media attention.
Pixel 7a is a no brainer but unfortunately Pixel phones are not available in my country so picked the Iphone 5s instead..
iPhone 5s dude how old is that phone like 10 years old?

I know this is a speed test but the samsung has a far better battery life and it has a memory card slot.
Just a quick tip to improve performance on OneUi 5: disable transparency effects in settings.
This Make no sense, it will take off a lot of beauty of the UI, also on iOS u can do this, but like i said, it will also take off a lot of the beauty of the UI
@@paulovinicius315 agree blur makes it a lot better

Hi. Pixel 7a vs galaxy s23
Why compare a mid range with top line
Why would you compare such an inferior phone to the Pixel 7a?
Cuz pretty much same price
It's not inferior lol
I remember when I had galaxy s6 with shitxynos and after 8 years I still see the same lags on today's exynos models of samsung. They cannot fix it after few years. That's why I can't back to samsung.
Just use their snapdragon devices like S23 Ultra, they're great
Use snapdragon version then you won't leave Samsung changed a lot now
World class premium
Here's fun fact: Tensor is basically renamed Exynos. Only NPU and ISP is made by Google. Rest of it is all exynos stuff. And you still blame "Shitxynos" lol
Wrong.
S6 edge was fast and smooth and it's time with Exynos.
@@zanibani Use S21 or S22 Exynos variants that are great too.
I hate pixels material you theme which takes away the on point true white color of the screen. While using my old pixel 6 i noticed the material you theme color shade on the display more and its annoying... I tried turning it off but not fully.
what the heck was that😂😂😂
Try and make a phone call from the basement! Google phones suffer from poor connection
Samsung Lags wherever you click
I don't expect buttery smooth every single time from a midrander phone. Lol.
The best deal for me, the bang for the buck on Samsung for me is the Samsung A52s. Problem being the software update range.
sadly, samsung is kinda selfish in this aspect and thery are working on a Exynos 1480 chip, it should be better than 1380 but still cant catch Snapdragon or even Dimensity. So i dont know what to expect :(
These pixel phones and their tensor, overheats like mad man, made for Icey markets
can not confirm. (pixel 7)
Do you own one 🤔
Pixel 🙂
Como e feio de frente esse Pixel
Bruh Samsung definitely need to up their midrange game cuz it's terrible. What I'm seeing is a very mediocre inconsistent performance against a near flagship experience.. well done Google. 👏
You might want to read up on the pixel. Especially battery life
@@t-rozbenouameur5304 Yeah I know that's an issue they need to pay some attention to because Google is partnering with Samsung to get their Tensor chips which we all know Samsung for their bad inefficient chips reputation.
yeah Samsung midrange has always been mid
In my country you can buy two a54s with the money u can spend on the pixel 😂
Nothing phone (1)
The Pixel 7a might be the better deal
It is
Depends on your price point. The 7a is quite a bit more expensive.
Poco F5 win
big downgrade from samsung A53
Pixels design is not so cool
Nick tries best to hide his hatred for Samsung. But yeah addicted to habits 😕
Samsung's always boot up slower than iPhones and Pixels.
I do not know, but your phone has a malfunction, because I tried it and it was very fast without any slowdown in performance, especially when entering and exiting applications, Until I tried quick entry and exit, and the phone was very fast
I agree
Samsung is just meh
The A34 is better with its dimensity 1080
Far more reliable
Never compare a 6gb samsung with an 8gb anything else
The ram will quickly become the limiting factor
Pixel is better
How?
I’m sorry, but you just lost all credibility by starting the test with boot up speeds.🤦🏻♂️ Not that you would need to, but there is no way to accurately test this since you don’t know what the delay is on the power button. In other words, the pixel may register a boot up command after only two seconds of holding the power button, whereas the Samsung may take a half a second longer. And honestly, I would prefer the longer wait, so that I am not accidentally turning my device on or off.
i really wonder why peoples still buy samsung overprised junk crazy fanboys
The pixel 7a has a flagship chip, and thats the main difference
since i am not 12 years old and dont do gaming on a freaking fone, i dont see any RELEVANT difference.
The bestbuy app is the problem. I used this app a lot and I have to say the app is the one crashing.
