Yeah I feel you brother even as a born Muslim I'm confused by certain things but I believe in this is a test for us as well. I tend not to subscribe to this school or that school. What is best is to go to the sources yourself and be truly honest with yourself. Having said that it is easier said than done. Allah will ultimately guide you as long as you be completely truthful in your heart, this is the key.

Thank you for this explanation. The problem with other explanations is that they assume the question is "can I make it mandatory to make dua'a after every single fardh prayer". All I'm asking is that is it ok for me to make dua'a at all after I pray. Sometimes I do it after Fajr, Maghrib, Isha, etc. Which is what you answered. As long as we aren't making it some sort of tradition or requirement on ourselves then its permissible. JZK.

    IN BRIEF
    1. Dua can be done after pray. But its not always a must.
    2. GROUP PRAYER IS BIDATH, that bidath is following in India. Imam making dua and people say ameen... ameen... without listening or understanding the dua.
    2. Better dua at thashahud and most recommend.

Furthermore, any scholar worth his salt would rather his followers throw out his opinion, if his opinion ever conflicted with the sunnah, and follow the sunnah instead (like what imam abu hanifah used to say to his followers, for example).
Why would a layman such as yourself choose NOT to follow the sunnah, frankly, defies logic.

Yet, he (pbuh) used to make dua’a while he will raise his both hands smtms, raises his hand above his head, and smtms he will point out his index finger. But none of these reported to had done after fard prayer once. The misconceptions among the scholars is a misguidance for the ummah too.

We need to do things the best we can but when listening to sheikhs or imams even from the same platform (upon the sunnah etc) it can get confusing. Even with Eid salah being prayed at home. Some say yes and some say no. Insha-Allah all those giving knowledge are rewarded for their efforts. However i hope insha-Allah more clarity will be given rather than quick interpretations as we will be questioned on Yumal qiyamma on where we took our knowledge and i want to be confident with whom im taking my knowledge from as i dont want to pass on mistakes to my children or anyone i know as i will be accountable for it also for giving false knowledge. Prophet did it a lot but not after every single prayer . When you start doing it after every single prayer like its something the sahaba did after every single prayer it becomes bidah. Sometimes they did sometimes they didnt . And individually its no problem . But as a group every single time there is no hadith that said he always made a dua and everyone behind him said Ameen after every single prayer .

As far as I am knowledgeable, making dua with Jamaah with a imam while raising hands is not permissible. Allah know best. And the individual making dua after every fardh prayer while raising hands is also not permissible but if once in a while is good, but don't make it a regularity. The duas found in Arabic which were found in hadith are the dua that the prophet SAW did without raising hands and not with Jamaah. Allah Swt knows best.

By watching this and Sheikh Assim video - You can make dua anytime... But if you make it after every prayer especially fard or especially in congregation come under innovation.
The video indicated the prophet PBUH, tabeeien and tabatabeeien did no such action no reports available as proof...
During prayer you are more closer to Allah so it is better you do it then.
once in a while after prayer is fine... Even mufti menk said he was making dua while leaving the masjid...
    So any thoughts?
