- Rockstar is a developer that has, on more than a few occasions, delivered games that have gone on to set standards that the entire industry has followed at large for years on end, so with Grand Theft Auto 6 now finally on the horizon, one can’t help but wonder how exactly the developer is going to build on its incredible past and deliver an experience that lives up to its lofty standards.
Looking back at the last decade, Grand Theft Auto 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 are obviously some of the greatest games ever made, but what lessons can Rockstar take from the duo as it looks ahead and attempts to push the envelope even further with the upcoming GTA 6?
I have no idea how can anyone dislike the heavy movement and control of the character in rdr2, the heaviness and methodical nature of the movement was one of the biggest immersion factor in rdr2.
People ARE slow & heavy in real life movements and that is how i want it to be in realistic open world genre games.

Someone who actually has a genuine opinion instead of just agreeing with the majority. It’s hard to find! I’m with you. Arthur never felt like he’s wearing 100lbs in armor, he felt like he had real movement. How I would move if im just casually walking. Even Turing around feels great. I don’t want to spin around like a COD character because it’s NOT COD. I hope they feel more like Arthur in GTA than not. Movement definitely could be improved no doubt but expand on what we have instead of take it away.

Am pretty sure Gta 6 will have a serious story in an insane world, not as serious as Gta 4, but serious enough for a Gta game, more serious than Gta 5 but not as much as 4. Looking at the trailer, the cutscenes looked like the characters talked much more seriously unlike they did in Gta 5 trailer.
Being more creative with how you complete missions would be nice.. i don't expect the level of freedom something like Dishonored offered, but they should at least try to make them a little more open..

Yeah this game is probably gonna suck. At least back in gta iv or san andreas you had some "freedom". But this game is just gonna be a rollercoaster, people are so naive or have very low standards

I really really hope they bring back some of the features from GTA San Andreas like eating food and getting fat, going to the gym, and all the cool stuff they never recreated from that game.
one of my wishlist features. GTA SA is such a legendary game! i need this back in GTA VI.
Changing fighting styles and going to multiple cities even bully was ahead of it’s time with upgrading your fighting and the weather seasons change throughout the game.
Maybe they’ll actually focus on the single player campaign…but I doubt it. It’s gonna be all online bs

There just has to be single player DLC, it’s such a shame they’ve forgone adding more depth and story possibilities to the amazing worlds of their recent games. I can only imagine the potential for side characters/stories Vice city and its surroundings will have in GTA 6.

If I was Rockstar I would create the DLC now or at least have a team working on it the moment VI releases.
If these were as dense as the base games 30-40 base but 50/60 completionist. I'd pay decent money for it, if they had done that for GTA V over 10 years I guarantee that game would have sold even more copies.

Gta 6 will have ragdolls more realistic than rdr2, it will even feature characters with different moods and even different health conditions like broken bones and such

I think GTA 5's biggest narrative weakness is it's 3 character main protagonists.
Though offering an interesting gameplay mechanic, it really impacts character depth. The only character with any real depth in Trevor and even then, it's the bare minimum. If instead Rockstar had decided to spend the same amount of time fleshing out a single character, rather than 3, it would have greatly improved GTA 5's story.
RDR 2 its greathest game for me,story telling,mission, is soo deep
on the first playthrough its great. but it gets boring the second time. only ever completed it once because of that

I disagree on rdr2 having terrible controls if anything they were perfect and i sure as shit hope GTA VI moves and plays the same way, i liked how heavy it felt to move Arthur it added that much more realism. I basically hope GTAVI is an copy n paste of rdr2 in every sense and more which i think is what they are going for and im so ready for that!

I personally find gta 5 story more enjoyable than gta 4, Vice City and 3 but nothing beats San Andreas for me. Looking forward to the next gta been tired of gta 5 since 2020.
I’ve beat the game 5x on ps4 just get all the trophies I got 100% trophies hop online for the 1st time in 2018 make it to rank 230 & got bored of game I don’t understand how ppl can make it to level 1,000 & still enjoy the game 🤦🏽♂️

IMO if the games presented a passage of time similar to RDR, RDR2 and GTA online then it would go a long way. The one thing GTA never gets is an epilogue showing what they’re currently up too in a few years or even months later. It would be nice to see what’s gone on after the main events from the story are done. In GTA SA and even 5 you’re almost left assume that everything only happens in the course of weeks without ever proclaiming exactly how much time it’s been since a previous event. Even 5 and 4 suffer from this to an extent. The way it was done in RDR2 is nearly perfect but could be better. I think it would go a long way in relationship building with characters knowing how long they’ve been together

I really wish GTA 6 puts a focus on things to do outside the main story missions. Its sad that San Andreas offered leagues more things to do outside the main mission then GTA 5 despite GTA 5 having a bigger map and 3 times as many characters.
Also the Gunplay i.m.o. is ripe for a redo. Guns in Rockstar games feel like point and click device with next to no recoil and a total lack of bullet physics. Its especially funny in RDR 2 since the game is trying to be super realistic, yet bullets travel with the speed of light and aren't affected by gravity somehow.

IVs drags to drags story was a product of its time. Will never be duplicated again. Vs story was just you guys trying to pay a debt to Madrazo. I’ve beaten many of times but had no emotion to it. RDR2 was a story stealing master piece that left me in awe. Idk what VI will have in store for us but I’m surely lookin forward to it.
GTA 5s story was fun and the missions and heist missions were fun but the story lacked the depth that GTA 4 RDR and RDR 2 had.
GTA IV made me start skipping school in 8th grade. GTA V brought down my GPA my freshman year of college.
I’m hoping GTA VI makes me neglect my fatherly duties. I want my wife to get angry with me. I just want to feel like a kid again. I’m already planning on taking a month off work whenever this game is coming out

This game will be a live service cluster f**k cause of GTA on-line and how successful it has been, plus everyone who worked on GTA 5 and red dead redemption 2 are gone.
That will mostly impact the writing which i am worried about especially Rockstar saying they want to be more progressive and less offensive.
GTA6 should still have those big set pieces but it really needs a good chunk missions with just an with just an objective and let the player decide how to accomplish it through systems built into the game.
Players are tired of the go here, get this specific vehicle, drive up to this gate, pick up this McGuffin, go to this build, access the security system at this terminal, make sure you don’t go more than 10 metres outside the mission zone etc, the worlds they create are amazing but the singleplayer needs to utilise them better
I want GTA6 to be like RDR2 and by that I mean to have realistic mechanics like being able to carry only 3 weapons at a time during combat. basically be like a low level RPG by being able to use limited amount of weapons or gear.
Well i agree but i don't Rockstar have a problem with that like other companies i think every story mission is pretty unique.

@@emilfrederiksen.1622nah, that is their major problem. All their missions are repetitive besides a few. Their mission design is incredibly linear now. I wouldn’t mind the repetitive drive to area with buddy, shit goes wrong, and shootout if the games shooting mechanics weren’t so barebones. It’s literally just a lock-on system with guns that have no recoil. Gta 6 needs to fix the gunplay and mission design.

I just hope that Gta6 has better fighting system. As good as Gta5 was it had really lame fighting. And also wish they bring back better ragdoll physics. I doubt we will get Gta4 style realism again but im hoping its better than 5. Dont get me wrong 5 was beautiful!!! But the gameplay was a step backwards. One last thing maybe a little dismemberment like in RDR2. Then it will be perfect.
I got to see GTA 6 last year not going to say how that will hurt my source if i did but the Grapghics reminded me of a updated RD2 and it looked like the best looking game ive seen there alot customization witch i like and stuff you can do like buy property i never saw the girl in the hill billy guy the gameplay i saw was with a black guy witch he is 1 of the main people in a game . You will see next month but i thinknthere coming him a secret so probably not

Rockstar better be dropping the best most graphics open world game ever. Considering they have 1000s off employees and have spent 10+ years on the game. For me i am more worried about the writing and Rockstar appealing to "modern audiences" and removing the humor of the previous GTA's than actually making fun missions and an amazing open world.
Graphics should not be any major concern for you since they are going to improve the graphics from rdr2 and make it 1000x better, which to this day 5 years on rdr2 has the best graphics of 98% open world games to date rn.
@Tyler-uj5mf it will not be 1000 times better. Rdr2 was mostly wilderness yet was demanding. Gta 6 will be even more demanding due to more buildings and more textures to load, so I doubt the graphics will be that much better. More like a polished rdr2 or equivalent
@zw6512 idk bro from what im hearing the graphics are going to out do that of rdr2 I mean Rockstar's rage engine 8 is quite powerful, In 2018 nobody thought a game such as rdr2 would be able to handle so well on a base ps4 and look at how that turned out, I can only image how much better it will be & from what I understand GTA 6 graphics is going to be leaps and bounds better than rdr2 was able to achieve .🥴
I doubt it will be changed in this game but I think Rockstar needs to totally rework character movement. The characters really control like garbage compared to most modern games. This is especially noticed with the fist person mode.

GTA V had 69 missions and RDR2 had 108.
I think about 90 missions would be the sweet spot for GTA 6. Longer than GTA V, shorter than RDR2.
The only lessons GTA6 will learn from GTA5 and RDR2 is be more correct politically and only ridicule the right and conservatives alike. 😏

Is it just me or is gta v’s story comedic in a lot of aspects? i found rdr2’s story way more enjoyable deaths in that game were far more impactful than in gta 5

Story and Gameplay are very important. But Gameplay is better. A game can have excellent storyline but if the gameplay sucks, then the game sucks. But if a game got a wack story and the gameplay is fire. Then the game is great. I'll take gameplay over story any day. But when both are great it makes the game better.
Rockstar has worked 10+ plus years on this game with 1000s of employees i expect a great story and great gameplay and a great open world.

I don’t think they are releasing Gta 6 they deliberately stated news being released for the new Grand Theft Auto in early December. Meaning it is a play on words and meant to confuse over excited fans into buying into the add on. Truly sad not to get a new story and map but the remastered Trilogy version has shown what we needed to know and with people continuously supporting 5 online there will be no 6!
If they attempt to come back swingin with gta, other devs gotta step their mf game up in the open world genre, insomniac stepped up, santa monica stepped up, ubisoft might even step up, metro series devs gone step up, its too many mfs copying soulslike mechanics which is boring hopefully we get more creative ways that devs come up with too much copy n paste goin on

Exactly. People want realism? Go play RDR2. Some realistic details in GTA are nice but too much realism ruins the fun for me too. RDR1 was a sweet spot between realistic but still fun as was GTA IV and V to some extent… RDR2 was just too drawn out and slow for me to enjoy.

Just remember the people who made every previous GTA and RDR games are not making GTA 6. Leslie Benzies, Dan Houser and Michael Unsworth the main individuals behind the success of GTA 5 and RDR2, they are the reason why we love those games so much, now that they're gone I have mixed feelings about GTA 6, there's no doubt it's gonna be visually and technically a masterpiece but the writing, characters and story is what I am curious about.
Michael Unsworth left 3 months ago so it is impossible to think that he hasn't had some touch on GTA 6.

At this point I can absolutely guarantee it'll have comically sluggish controls. As technologically advanced as Rockstar are, they seem incapable of hiring someone who knows how to code character movement.
I don't think they will ever stop milking the GTA online shark cards. single player DLC would never be a thing, unless people stop buying shark cards for online.

Another important lesson: Don't make the game TOO big. Ik it wasn't made by Rockstar, but AC Valhalla was heavily pulled back by how long it took to finish, even without the sidequests. Don't put too much details in, don't include too many side activities.
I can't wait to buy this game for PS5, PS6, and PS7

Really hope gta 6 gives us a storyline on the level of gta 4 or red dead 2. GTA 5 story just felt so mediocre in my opinion with no real profound moments. I hope they don’t go down the route of rdr2 in terms of a super heavy emphasis on scripting. More emergent gameplay would be nice.
I mean in terms of story missions a certain amount of scripting is understandable, but in rdr2 even the side quests were completely scripted and predicable. On rails almost. Limits replayability and entirely defeats what I would’ve thought the purpose of an open world game is.
They even made the stealth missions insanely linear😂. Cod games give you more freedom than that shit.

GTA has been my favorite franchise since the first time I played the original on my friend's pc way back in the day.. It felt like a game you weren't supposed to be playing as a kid.. I eagerly awaited every release since and I loved pretty much every title R* has put out.. But there was something off about Vs single player for me, especially coming off of, what was IMO their best work, in GTA IV. I was surprised to see them move away from so many of the things that made IV so great.. The immersion, the realism, the physics, the gritty down to earth story.. Liberty City itself.. I was really let down when I first picked up V, but eventually I fell in love with what made it a great game as well.. Just in different ways. I really wish we could find a happy medium between IV and V. I need a little more realism and Street level crime stories instead of a Hollywood action blockbuster type of story.. It does seem like that's what we're getting so I'm super excited for it.. Like theyre giving GTA the same amount of detail they gave RDR2 and I'm ALL THE WAY for it.. I want as much immersion and realism as that had.. FOR SP... If you want to dumb that down for GTO that's fine with me, but please give us a SP epic like we got with RDR2, AND MAYBE SOME DLC? I will have Zero complaints
