I'm glad Mike has a platform to do his thing; he might not be the best MMA fighter, but the dude is hilarious, entertaining and an absolute dog in the ring
He could of done better in mma if he was as passionate about it. He loved aspects of MMA. Trading, throwing hands, pocket work. I’m sure other things. I just don’t think he had the desire to do it at the level he’s doing this because the passion wasn’t as intense if you go and look at his MMA body of work and I have 19 fights so I know what I’m looking at he was actually pretty skilled. And the intangibles that make him great at bareknuckle he had in the octagon. He didn’t just find those. He’s definitely built for this you’re not wrong I just don’t think he gets enough credit for the MMA side. Not to mention he was one of the best MMA fighters in the world and what I mean by that is if the UFC roster is 300. He’s the top 300 in the world. It’s still an accomplishment five and five in the UFC is still one of the best in the world

I just don’t know how long it’s gonna last. The wear and tear of those punches on the brain is going to be very very bad long term. I had a brain injury from boxing and MMA. They found a mark on my cat scan. The significance damage came from rounds on rounds on rounds of hard sparring with 16oz. People some people, think that’s a pillow lol it’s so far from being a pillow it’s not even funny. But that BKFC swag is scary. The prep for the fights is ALL head shots. It’s all trauma based sparring. Then you got two physical beasts who know how to throw hands technically teeing off to end a fight as fast as they can. The power generated behind a punch that comes out of the chamber and is technically turned over, hip turned over and fully extended or short. Had so much more force than a punch that is just thrown with no technique. It’s not even explainable. No different than something I’ve never experienced tho. But I say that to say this. Mike Perry made his last 2 opponents. QUIT. These are world class highly skilled former champions. With BODIES of work under them. Eddie was winning that fight. Perry started to come on. But to have alavarez say F THIs I’m out. In the middle of a fight he’s maybe not dominating but he’s neck and neck tells you how violent it is

All I am saying is that if you spend a lifetime training only fist boksing and blocking etc, you should be better at doing exactly that, than a guy who also spent his time training kicks, wrestling and everything else... it just common sense. But you are right. Promotion is about branding and shocking value, not actually fighting skills and attempting to find the best fighter...
I spent a lifetime learning my electricians trade. You bet I am a better electrician than any carpenter out there even though we are both builders and can do many of the same things.... (just like the carpenter is better at framing a house than I...) But if you put us up against eachother, the job assignment will most likely determine the outcome. I will have a house wired before he even knows what materials to order for it just like he will have a wall framed before I figure out the dimensions of the needed lumber......
