- My latest Tambour project is a half-circle elbow length capelet with a design inspired by peacock tail feathers. I start by patterning the design, mounting the fabric in my slate frame, and testing out my design on the first feather before moving on to the others.
A pouch or pocket for the cat. Thank you for the idea. I love the embroidery. And I love my bead spinner

Love your videos! Thanks for sharing all the details. This craft is something ove become interested in lately. Can you share where to buy beads, crystals etc?
Thank you! So excited that you're interested in giving it a try! I have a resource page on my website - it has links to my long form 'learn tambour embroidery' youtube videos which you may have already found, but it also has link lists for supplies plus the shops I usually buy all my shiny bits from :) www.katmakes.com/tambour-embroidery
Spoiled ❤
Who taught you to do this gorgeous craft?
I learned on CZcams, and by following blogs! About 8 years ago. Bob Haven's videos in particular were a huge help and they are still up if you'd like to watch them :) - I also made my own youtube series a few months ago so I suppose I've come full circle!
what do you do with the mock up part?
im so sorry i stopped focusing on anything else as soon as i realized the kitty was in a little BABY SLING
Where is the best place to get a tambour hook and bead spinner?
I got hooked on bead embroidery in 2020 with a tiny sewing needle hand filed even thinner to fit seed beads. This looks SO much easier than my way 😅
I have a resources page with everything I recommend for getting started! A lot of this is also in the info sections of my 'learn tambour embroidery' long form video series but this should definitely get you started: www.katmakes.com/tambour-embroidery
You couldn't ask for a better work space and co-worker
What's the difference between tambour, luneville and ari embroidery?
Tambour embroidery is the term most frequently used (by english speakers) as an umbrella term to apply to "chain stitch embroidery performed with a hook through fabric" - Lunéville and Aari both sit inside that category - Lunéville with its own special hook, beads applied from the back, and Aari with a different special hook, a different twisting motion used in the stitch, and beads applied to the front. I tend to work most of my projects using elements of both so it makes the most sense to call it Tambour. If you want to learn more about the functional difference I have a youtube playlist called "Learn Tambour Embroidery" that covers both and their different applications :)
