    I just appreciate the fact that you fixed the lacing. In the beginning of the video both boots are laced with the "bar" being under. (Which I personally cannot stand). But at the end when doing the comparison you fixed the untouched boot to match the lacing on the treated boot to ‘bar over". Thank you so much! 20 years in the military has caused me to notice all the little things and an absolute boot fanatic. Great job and great video!

    I have been contemplating a pair of Iron Rangers for a rugged boot that will still look smart with casual dressy slacks or jeans, but I have been reticent because I did not think that they would take a polish. You have totally changed my mind about that - these boots look amazing and perfect for my needs. Thank you so much for the great video!

    I dig the shined look. Definitely looking squared away. These boots never look bad. Even with the worn look. Well conditioned and a nice light shine accentuates the quality of the leather.

    I can't stop smiling after watching this splendid Red Wing Iron Ranger Clean & Care ASMR video. Not only because I absolutely loved it but also after reading ridiculous comments from some "I-know-better" tryhards, ignorants and your responses to them. They are as smooth as great the boots look after you've taken care of them. Thanks, best video I've seen so far today and I was looking >exactly< for that. I'm just waiting for my two (used) pairs of classic Mocs from RW to arrive (should be tomorrow) and I'm preparing to cleaning the shit out of them during the weekend. I will mimicate the procces on my Iron Rangers too. I'm only jelous mine are black, so they won't have that beautiful patina. :)

    • @TheGlassToe
      @TheGlassToe  Před 2 lety +7

      @@MOST415 it's hard to do so. Mainly because a worn look also means the leather is probably dry and once you add conditioners it deepens the color. Oh well guess that just means we gotta wear them more ! 😉😁😁😁

    • @Orlanzepol123
      @Orlanzepol123 Před rokem +4

      I like the mat and worn out look too but the ones he just finished cleaning and polishing will wrinkle as soon as you start walking in them. The leather will soon become mat because the leather will soak up a lot of the products applied. I think that leather always has a rough look which comes back as soon as they’re worn after cleaning.

    By the look of these, they’ve been worn for maybe a week. This was not a restoration but an over the top maintenance. Also do not use saddle soap. It changes the color of the leather and dries it out. All you need is mink oil after using water to clean of dust/debris.

      It depends on how saturated the boots get. If it has been a while since the last clean usually the leather is really dry and will retain water. Give it a day or so and then continue. Simply feel the leather for any wetness. As soon as it's dry it's good to go. You do not want to trap any moisture in the leather with the other products so it's best to wait and ensure it's dry.

    • @TheGlassToe
      @TheGlassToe  Před 2 lety +2

      They are around 5 years old I believe. They are my go to boots. I don't necessarily baby them but I don't abuse them. I'll wear them when doing light carpentry, wrenching on my car or motorcycle but nothing that I'd call them work boots. I clean them up for dress but I also wear them casually. The Iron rangers are the boots I always tend to wear.

    • @shirts2003
      @shirts2003 Před 2 lety +1

      How often do you clean them? Only asking cause I’m considering purchasing this same pair of boots. After 5 years your boots look gorgeous. I wear a pair of their moctoes for work. Oh and are they as comfortable as they claim? Was your break in period long?

    • @TheGlassToe
      @TheGlassToe  Před 2 lety +2

      Cleaning them, like I did in the video, depends on how dirty I get them. If they are dirty enough to me I do this cleaning for a deep clean. Normally I dust off after ever wear and put boot trees in them. I give them a little conditioning once a week or every other week and a little wax once every 2 weeks. I may wash them, like in the vid, once a month or every other as long as they don't get excessively dirty.
      The break in period was about 2 weeks. I would buy them and then go straight to work in them or do anything that would last hours. After break in they are extremely comfortable. I love wearing them

    Don't recommend wax on oiled leather. Use Saphir for Greasy Leather. Neets Foot Oil if you want more water proofing.

    • @TheGlassToe
      @TheGlassToe  Před 3 lety +4

      I used wax for the shine, not for waterproofing. Nothing wrong with wax on oiled leather. Only concern here would be altering the texture of the leather the Iron Rangers come in, which I am aware of and prefer. But yes if you want to keep the standard texture an oil or greasy cream is ideal.

      @TheGlassToe  Před 3 lety +3

      @@seth_5394 It is for ASMR but it has everything to do with cleaning. This is how you would clean these boots. People's idea of "dirty" or "worn" is so skewed because of the lack of care people have for their shoes. The leaves of Dirt on these shoes is the ideal amount for routine cleaning, but people abuse shoes, especially boots for the sake of the " Rugged look". These boots are actually several years old. They look new because of the proper care they have received.

    • @seth_5394
      @seth_5394 Před 3 lety

      @@TheGlassToe I don't understand what "the leaves of dirt" means. It's all good my friend, I'm just poking fun. I see nothing wrong with your method and certainly proper care adds to the life of the boots. What it means to be dirty is somewhat subjective. I regularly drive by a car wash near my home and wonder what some of the cars in line are doing there because they look clean to me. But I have a friend who judges anyone who doesn't wash their car every other day and calls them lazy for it.
      No, those boots were no where near dirty. But then again, I was in the Marines back when we had to polish boots and press uniforms every fuckin night and now my standards have relaxed a bit lol. Nice video!

    • @TheGlassToe
      @TheGlassToe  Před 3 lety

      @@seth_5394 I meant the level of Dirt lol. And no problem, not a hostile comment at all. I just meant that dirty for most people meant caked on Dirt and grime. How do you get dried up cow shit and mud off them without scratching the leather more?

    • @TheGlassToe
      @TheGlassToe  Před 2 lety

      Probably let it try, do the whole smack against something hard ti get the most off and then use a semi stiff brush to knock the rest off. After use warm soapy water to scrub the rest off. If you are trying to avoid scratching the leather it's just going to take more time. There is no secret to it. Gentle scrubbing with an appropriate brush until it comes off. If you are doing it to IRs remember that specific leather scratches easily and also removes easily. So you can scratch the hell out of it, as long as you aren't scraping the leather, the conditioning that will follow will "erase" most if not all scratching.
      I've never had to remove feces from boots, but you may want to use a vinegar/EZ cleaner do disinfect. I hope that helps. If I can do anything else to help lmk.
