Yes, it is one of the Best RPG games. Gothic 1 and 2 were ahead of the time and inpired future great games to some degree. I personally Rank G1 and G2 way above elder scrolls games. I still do full play of thoose games yearly and have fun. G3 had wast potential too bet they relased unfinished product, it needed atleast 1-2 years in development. Also i could not run G3 When it came out on High-end tier Gaming computer in that Era, Barely Low-medium settings.And still it stuttered and dropped FPS like crazy. So people with not that good of a PC at that time would barely play it at lowest settings possible with lot of fps drops. That is another point why Game was a Flop. Like Oblivion Elder scrolls i Ran at Max settings on like 30-50FPs with not many issues for example. Basicaly it is a big shame G3 ended this franchise for good. It could have been Big as Elder scrolls and WItcher. Or imagine like Gothic MMO set like 10 years Before the G1, wou would maybe meet our Hero in his Teens haha.
#16 the old mine and the temple of the sleeper collapsed in Gothic 1. That is why they are abandoned and look like that...
1:55 this note teach you about bloodflies venom, it is usefull but forget about that miserable 100xp, it let you eat bloodflies stinger which restore 100%hp, also let you brew mental alteration potion for quest with Fortune and second for yourself (potion give you 250xp per chapter, so if you drink it in 5th you will get 1250xp, 6th chapter - 1500xp
For changing Chapters Just Spawn The Story helper :
Activate Marvin Mode
Open consol and Type :
insert SH

Note for whoever might still be watching this. At 8:00 or somewhere there, when mentioning the missing Orc Village and the Old Mine. - Remember that during Gothic 1 the old mine was flooded and collapsed so it wouldn't be accessible anymore and the orc village was built on top of the Sleeper's temple which also collapses at the end of G1, so it would make sense that those regions would be caved in and inaccessible.
why did i completely forgot that the old mine was flooded....
the returning mod also makes those more or less accessible.
About the last tip, you can easily pull and kill almost all of the orcs around the castle with one speed potion and two rain of fire spells. Just pull them at the ram where they stop attack you and cast the two rain of fire spells. I did that at chapter 4 and went from 31lvl almost 34lvl. I insta killed about 80 orcs and some wargs. There were some orcs left though that they didn't follow me all the way and I walked again one more time around the castle to finish them off with melee fight.

The rain of fire in the valey of mines trick is quite well known so it is not your thing only :) but it can also be applied to the entrance to the valey of mines to kill all the orcs blocking the way from khorinis which can get you a lot of xp at the beginig of act 2 with only 1 scrool and 1 snapper weed or speed potion:)
Haha, the fire rain one, where you gathered literally every orc you could, I used to do that as well in the past. I love this game, it's probably my first RPG ever, found your channel today and I can't stop watching them. It's funny to see how after a crapton of playthroughs I didn't know about those 2 caves you mentioned in your previous valley videos (the waterfall and the one where you find the dragon snapper scroll). I used to also do the aggro thing the hard way, just gather everyone possible without a potion and get them to the ram and then shoot them one arrow at a time. It was painfully slow and sometimes even took half an hour of shooting, so I'd always buy as many arrows as I could before heading into the Valley. Love your vids, hope you're still making G2 content

Gothic 2 NOTR SPOILER. That extract secretion from bloodfly sting is useful. In Jharkendar in bandit camp there is Fortuno, an old novice from G1. He needs special potion for cleaning his head so he can remember some stuff (about Raven I think). If you make the potion without knowing this skill and just put bloodfly stingers - Fortuno will die after drinking it. With knowing this skill he will recover and you get xp, you can also sell him swampweed palnts for money. (You can also learn this skill for LP from one of the bandits in the swamp but you will need them in more important skills).
I'm very happy to see that i'm not the only one to keep playing (after all this years) this great game, and also: i'm even happyer to find something new every play.

P.s. The best way to skip chapter. like i always do, is....play the entire game!
Make a save for every chapter and than reload it when you need that particular chapter :P

but that last one with the fire rain ... buddy, I think EVERYBODY has done that at some point :D at least I sure did!
it also works well with the addon spell storm, its circle 3 and deals massive AoE dmg! the main downside is its long cast time, so you have to make sure you are in a safe spot when casting.
and you will need 2 casts to wipe out most of the orcs.
but hell, its amazing and you can do it so early right after the addon content and you wont have to use a rain of fire scroll.
fun fact, storm is also the spell I killed most of the dragons with, plus 1-2 skeletons for distraction.
in JAKANDHAN you can get nostalgia XP by jamming into the deep chasm, before the canyon into the lake under.

I'm REALLY happy that orcs don't use crossbows in Gothic 2. Projectile dmg is vile in this game, it deals like 4x more DMG than melee attacks, plus it would be really annoying to get into the castle in the old valley

#21 I save all my fire rain scrolls just so I can clear the orcs around the castle in both chapters.
Interesting video but I think i knew most of these things :P, the leather satchel from tip 4 belongs to Gorn, if you talk to him in the prison he will tell you about it, also theres a interesting glitch called catapult glitch which we only recently found out works in gothic 2 aswell, also maybe you saw my video, but theres an amulet that spawns near the beginning of the game in chapter and its different depending on which guild you join, opening the gate in the castle is a prerequisite for Torlof to become your captain, also very fun one, orcs and dragons can wear human armor and its quite hilarious, also black ore glitch might be note worthy
If you go with the Mercenaries, there is a quest to open that door, cool animation too.
About the #16; I've recently played a patch-mod called 'yet another unofficial patch' which is I would say very good and all BUT it includes all this places you say and filled with enemies; the orc town, the free mine, the orc cemetery, the Brotherhood Camp (now an orc headquarters). And it's the worst thing ever because I feel forced to go there and kill all the enemies when there is no narrative at all behind it. Thus, cutting out those places was the right decision (unless they could have been implemented into the story).
And I'm out here watching this video on 2021 because in replay all the gothic games in this pandemic. Thx for the content!
I have used that fire rain thing before in Notr, there's a way you can get way more use out of it though - first drink the potion and gather up the orcs you can - then slowly make your way around the castle agro'ing more groups but don't bother trying to get the shamans (they don't follow properly because of the magic attack) if you do it right you can get every mele ork following you in one massive group. Every time you hear some giving up the chase stop for a couple of seconds to get them to re agro (or do a speed running loop back around if they follow too close), that will keep them following.
Then when you have your group cast fire rain - once will kill all the warriors as you said BUT THEN switch to STORM spell scroll, gain more distance (for the long cast) and cast that to kill off all the elites giving you far more loot and exp. Its cheaty as hell of course but it works a charm for about 700g worth of supplies, also if you want an easier time just bring 2 fire rain spell scrolls since the cast time is smaller then storm, theres 2 in shops in town (zuris and salandro) and at least 3 in the addon world.
I actually shot the footage of me doing this over a year ago but I decided not to bother making the video because I assumed people wouldn't be interested. Good video :-)

All your Gothic videos are really awesome! Could you make some videos about behind-the-scene history of Gothic 1-2 creation? There are lots of demo videos and interesting facts, just like unreleased psyonics school of magic or console version of Gothic 1
That last tip is just *"How to get a crazy amount of levels by using one spell and 0 effort"*
I did that Rain of Fire trick in the G2 NotR because you can get the spells very early in it's mad xp if you do it where it counts. I don't thing the scroll is available that early in the original G2 though.
Letting the orcs into the castle is a quest, when you ask Torlof (from Onar's farm) to be your captain. I wouln't consider that a tip.
Get yourself a wasteland mod which brings back those missing places in the Valley of Mines :)
Will those mods work mid game. Maybe go back to Khorinis first, install the mod, and then go back to VOM?
@@Andrew85or It should work mid game as it doesn't affect the story/dialogs but to be sure its better to copy entire game folder elsewhere as a backup or test version of game. Since Gothic doesn't need instalation to work you would have your vanilla game safe without the bother of removing mod in case it doesnt work for you as you need or reinstslling the game entirely.

I've only recently discovered a cave behind the palisade in vom in which killed off versions of NPC's are dumped. Bill, Angar, Gorn and i forgot the 4th one. I found them there in chapter V. I guess it was easier for creators to kill'em off and spawn different ones in island of Khorinis.
what Gothic needs is either a remake or an accessible and comprehensive modlist, man this game needs it.

I always was slaying orcs around the castle by luring them all to the trebuchet, then casting fire rain + some freezing novas to finish the orc elites :)

i did the fire rain thing for xp too sooo long ago i dont remember when also drank the speed potion too cuz orcs be fast and since i was playing a magic user i just used a 2nd fire rain to kill everything else the 1st one didnt kill.
dude the thing you think as your own with the rain of fire i do it aswell but i have the feeling is the most common trick..

When you take diego in your crew and change clothes, if you immediately tell him to protect the city and then you take him back into the crew, he changes clothes again and stays in his underwear, and the camera follows him as he heads to the ship for quite a while. qualcun'altro conosceva questo easter egg?
Anyone else knew this easter egg? it happened to me in my last playthrough, after at least 6 different runs over the years.

That Fire rain is pretty obvious, Probabbly most value you can get outta the scroll in the game. I usualy do it in chapter 2 to gain free Xp/Gold you get if you sell orc weapons etc.

Hey, you don't even have to run around the orcs that much. Just climb one of those pylons and Fire Rain away. Also, have you mentioned anywhere the trick to get all spellcaster's runes using Ice Block spell?
6:50 theres also dexterity ring which gives 5 dex in G2 NOTR and i belive 10 in classic G2

I too Always thought the ruined Tower looked Like a tavern or a Hangout place for the diggers of the old Camp. But IT was never a tavern as far as i know.

Instead of 'fire rain' use 'wave of death'. It's the strongest spell ever in the game. Besides Dragons, everything dies, since dragons need this spell to be used 2 times, though 'shrink' works better on them.

Jesus what the hell is diegos english voice?? He Sounds nothing Like the German Version. The english voice is terrible.
Also opening the Gate of the Castle is required by the mercenary torlof If you want him to be the Captain of the ship near the end of the game
When i played gothic 2 his voice was different. it's safe to assume there are at least two voiceovers
There is indeed a UK and a US version with different dialects. The UK hero is voiced by the original German VA.
