  • These commercials aired on KVEW in September of 1984
    1. "The Saturday Late Movie" Commercial Bumper (Commercials starting here aired 9/15/84. "Alexander The Great" was the 1956 version starring Richard Burton)
    2. ??? (Well, that certainly WAS a brief intermission...)
    3. Take A Bite Out Of Crime PSA
    4. Waterbed Center
    5. Central Washington Kidney Foundation PSA
    6. KVEW Station ID
    7. "The Saturday Late Movie" Commercial Bumper
    8. Democracy PSA (With Telly Savalas. Based on the condition of the print here, it's hard to believe this PSA was from 1984...but I think that's what the copyright date at the end says. If you told me 1964 I'd believe it, but I think Telly had more hair then...)
    9. "The Saturday Late Movie" Commercial Bumper
    10. Selective Service PSA (AMAZING! This will most likely be the best PSA that I EVER post on this channel, so enjoy it! ♫ AT THE POST OFFICE ♫)
    11. "The Saturday Late Movie" Commercial Bumpers
    12. Army National Guard PSA
    13. KVEW Station ID
    14. "The Saturday Late Movie" Commercial Bumper
    15. Job Training Coordinating Council PSA (With Bob Hope)
    16. "The Saturday Late Movie" Commercial Bumper (Commercials starting here were recorded on 9/29/84, during an airing of "Yellow Submarine")
    17. Godfather's Pizza (Be sure to try the cannolis here, they're to die for)
    18. Keep The Torch Lit PSA (Funding the restoration of The Statue Of Liberty, which was closed to the public and restored from 1984-86)
    19. "The Saturday Late Movie" Commercial Bumpers
    20. Greg's Sleep Center (Or if you want to go by how they spelled it in the ad GREG'Sleep Centers)
    21. Goodwill (8:17 buy your kids all of the oversized trenchcoats they need to go back to school in style!)
    22. Promo for "WKRP In Cincinnati"
    23. Buckle Up PSA (With then Secretary of Transportation Elizabeth Dole, wife of the late senator Bob Dole)
    24. Promo for "The New Jokers Wild" (That is some magnification on Bill Cullen's specs there...reminds me of Tyrell from "Blade Runner")
    25. "Sunday Premiere Movie" Commercial Bumper (Commercials starting here were recorded on 9/30/84, this time during the 1948 film "Key Largo"...sorry make that "Key LargOHHH”)
    26. "Key Largo" film glitch (This is edited down a bit and featured a much longer portion of dead air before they cut to commercial)
    27. Vote No on Ballot Measure 3 PSA (Just how big IS this elevator?)
    28. Wendy's "Where's The Beef?" Monday Night Football Game (With Dick Butkus and Clara Peller aka the "Where's The Beef?" lady from the last volume...who became a national star after the commercial blew up in early 1984. In early 1985 Wendy's fired Peller after her appearance in an ad for Prego spaghetti sauce where she claimed to have "found it" and also pulled the entire "Where's The Beef?" campaign. It took them years to recover in sales. RIP to both Butkus and Clara)
    29. Promo for "Barney Miller"
    30. Pasco's 100th Year Centennial Celebration
    31. "Sunday Premiere Movie" Commercial Bumper
    32. Nestle Toll House Morsels
    33. Promo for "Cougar Highlights '84" (Uses a song by the Police that the station almost certainly did not have permission to use. It's not too late to sue, Sting!)
    34. Safety Belt PSA (13:51 Damn, that is scary)
    35. KVEW News 42 Weekend Report Promo (Featuring reporter Steve Frank)
    36. "Sunday Premiere Movie" Commercial Bumper
    37. Friskies (KITTIES)
    38. Tree Top Apple Juice (Considering this actually aired in Washington State, I'd imagine most people living in the area had better options for apple juice than this)
    39. KVEW News 42 Promo
    40. Unemployment Insurance PSA (Now look confused and angry)
    41. "Sunday Premiere Movie" Commercial Bumper
    42. Pennzoil (With Arnold Palmer)
    43. Promo for "The All New Let's Make A Deal" (Just don't think about the Monty Hall problem for too long or your head will explode: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monty_H...)
    44. March Of Dime PSA
    45. Milk
    46. ??? (Well I guess someone didn't want that one to air)
    47. Promo for "League Championship Series"/KVEW News 42 Promo
    48. Office Of Child Support Enforcement PSA (Don't be a deadbeat dad)
    49. KVEW Station ID
    50. American Mobile Homes
    51. Pacific Northwest Bell
    52. KVEW Date Book
    53. "Sunday Premiere Movie" Commercial Bumper

Thank you! The adorable cats are rocking out to Tchaikovsky’s Trepak (Russian Dance) from The Nutcracker. So cute.

3:28 Honestly, all I will probably remember from this commercial is the inherent coolness of the POOOOST OFFICE!

People were happier during the 80’s. At least on TV.

15:16 - Tree Top…the apple juice of choice for leering men everywhere…

    2. ???- Judging from the look of the split second scene that was shown, I would say those two guys were about to play a card game or about to have a serious discussion.
Nestle Toll House Morsels- There’s something so satisfying watching the time lapse photography of the cookies baking at 12:48.
Friskies-The Music from The Nutcracker Suite playing throughout this commercial adds to the playful atmosphere with the kittens, I think.

The thumbnail really encapsulates the delightful cheesiness of the 80’s.
    But what’s it advertising?
03:24 Of course! Registering for the 🎵Poooost Office! Post Office!🎵😅

  • @yusakug

3:24 - If these guys can make going to the post office to sign up for selective service this awesome, they could sell me on anything. Hell, they could probably convince me to join a death cult with these kind of grooves.

Post Office will be put to shame if you can get the breakdance PSA expounding the virtues of CHI-RO-PRAC-TIC. Best PSA ever!
Regarding the Statue of Liberty-who is the guy doing the voice? That guy must’ve done every educational film, PSA, and commercial of my youth. I’d love to hire him to do my voicemail.

I'm loving the low budget aesthetic of this entire station's presentation! Right down to the film glitch!
That voting PSA with Kojak is worn and dated for 1984! I paused to see and it looks like 1964 possibly.
But that Selective Service PSA! I remember a similar one with different music that was on WPIX in New York every morning! Yeah it's definitely memorable and stuck in the 80s forever!

At this resolution, difficult to say for certain. The age of the film and overall style would certainly suggest it.

The Selective Service “ Post Office “ PSA, you could tell, Micheal Jackson was the hottest entertainer in ‘84, and his influence was everywhere . You wanted sound like him, dance like him, or like here, at least look like him 😄..

And these guys were so lucky their generation didn't end up being called up in a draft for a war...the ad makes it sound like Selective Service registration was "no big deal"...Sure, no big deal, you're just registering so they can pull your name and force you to fight and possibly die in a war! It's easy! Just ask your local Vietnam vet!

Selective Service-these guys shouldve made an appearance in Breakin 2 Electric Boogaloo
WKRP In Cincinnati-@8:49-Herb"..and those things were..?"
Sunday Premiere Movie-maybe opening the door is what caused that glitch
Barney Miller-his mother WAS the lawyer
Cougar Highlights '84-name sounds like it could be the title of one of those comedies in the style of Porky's,Private Lessons,My Tutor etc..(trailer announcer"..Talk about experienced reviews! Rated R.")😆
Safety Belt PSA-the first two occupations definitely aren't worth dying for
The All New Let's Make A Deal-Monty Hall > Wayne Brady

Years later Washington state would become the birthplace of Grunge which would sadly destroy the 80s look and sound! But thanks to things like Stranger Things and the 80s resurgence, the 80s are back and better than ever!

@@80sCommercialVault LOL! No problem. I was just curious, considering every time you upload a video that has a cat commercial (or a cat in a commercial) in it, I always say "Kitty!" (there, I said it again). What can I say? I'm a crazy cat lady (emphasis on the crazy)
