its the whole show. comedy, music, skits, etc. otherwise people would just get a list of the winners instead of watching... the SHOW.
***** "anybody can do comedy" is just insulting. It's more difficult to make people laugh out loud than make people feel emotional/ sad. Comedian goes through equal (if not greater) amount of emotional stress and hardship to put on a great show.

Well Robin Williams won 5 golden globes and an Oscar. Connery won several accolades, golden globes, even an Oscar and was one of the most popular actors of his time. I don't really think, that there were so many people who didn't realize how talented the two of them were

When they mentioned the music also has words, I love the reaction of the audience because they knew what will happen.
I love the look on their faces during the applause at the end. Almost equal parts being ashamed and astonished that anyone is actually applauding. I know it is part of the act, but that is why these 2 are so much fun to watch.

Oh my. The 2004 Oscars were the greatest Oscars I have seen in my life (or at least one of the most outstanding ones), and I regulary seen them since decades. Beginning with Billy Crystal, who was amazing and hilarious from the first second til the last. This skit of course, with a laughing Sean Connery and a laughing Robin Williams - which makes my heart ache, now they're dead.
Of course, as an admirer of LOTR as well as the film trilogy, this show holds a special place in my heart. At the end, with Spielberg saying "It's a clean sweep" - and closing with Billy Crystal's words "Remember, what happens at the Oscars stays at the Oscars".
So wonderful, so hilarious, so special! ♥
