Listening to you guys makes me realize how lucky I am to be alive. I got my 1st bike at 26 and it was a brand new 2002 R6 and I had never really ridden a bike. I wasn’t even able to ride the bike home once the sales guy pushed it from the showroom to the parking lot I had to call my brother in-law to take it home for me. My brother in-law had Gixxer1000 and my other friend had CBR 900RR that R6 had no problem keeping up with them. I did have to ride it way harder than normal but I realize now that I only kept up with them because I was way more reckless then them.
I just purchased a Svartpilen 401 and I’m 5’6. Seat height is perfect, it’s quick, comfortable. I’m still under the 1000km mark so can’t push it past 80km yet
It was cool to hear the story of Brandon. I recently paid off my truck and was going to get myself a street bike as I've been in between since I had been a father of 3. I realized I wanted my kids to ride with me one day, so I went and financed them a CRF 50 and KAYO TT 125 that I can ride until they can handle it. So far the experience of my kids riding is "magical anxiety". I hope to get them a 300 in in a few years to ride around, with a license. They'll have to share, the VA ain't paying out enough for 4 Street bikes 😅 thanks yam man for your insightful instruction.
great for kids to learn to ride at some point they will ride a friend street bike when they are teens best if they actually have riding experience before taking fast bike on street in traffic. Those that first ride is on street bikes on street are more likely to get hurt bad and or die in a wreck, check stats. Experienced riders even if all dirt know bikes and make fewer riding errors on street that can and have killed first timers. Anyone that has been around bikes and new riders knows new riders panic hit throttle forget where brakes are and boom off into whatever, better dirt and bushes than concrete and traffic
Yesterday i bought a 2023 Kawasaki z125 pro, its my first bike, never ridden before, i rode dirtbikes a little when I was younger but after dealing with car problems and the current price of cars, i always wanted a bike, im 24, and i can already tell that this was probably one of the best decisions of my life. Yea i know its just a 125 that has a max speed of 65 mph but idc, i have friends that ride and they all told me you don't want a bike that is gonna scare you, you will put so many more miles on rhe 125 vs a bigger bike...glad i took their advice.
I ride a Ninja 300. Still a new rider. Will upgrade in a year or two to the new Ninja 500 (450cc) when it comes out. It's overall better than the Ninja 400 for city riding and not AS high revving on the highway (high strung) as the 400. A perfect 2nd bike IMO.
Started riding 300 then a 600. 6 months on started going to the track regularly. 3 years later sold my track bikes and diving into dirt biking. New bikes and new terrain are fun
I had it stuck in my head that I was going to start on a 600. GSXR 600 to be exact. 34 years young and felt I would be ok on a 600, however, the real reason was that I was embarrassed for some reason. However, after praying about it. I ended up buying a 2016 Yamaha R3. Extremely happy with that decision.
I started on the zx6 way back. Moved up to the 750 class. Huge mistake! I couldn’t manage the weight and sling like I did. I rode several yzf 600 and ninja 650 and man they were a blast. I would have never burnt out as fast if I chose the smaller bikes. I haven’t ridden in years due to getting hit at a stop light from a dui car. I felt like God was telling me to re evaluate my life decisions. Now older, I would like to return with a 300-400 class bike.
smart age size has zero to do with it Riding skill and experience is everything. I know 5 foot kids 14 yrs old that are better riders than 90% of those on street, but have 10 yrs of riding experience on dirt bikes, neighbors kid is 14 or 15 races dirt bikes since he was 8 riding since 4. he hoped on my zx 6 and he can ride it like he owned it for yrs, I have over 40 yrs some racing back ground kid is probably better on my bike than me, and I know it
My MSF instructor told us to start out on the bike we want. I was very surprised to hear that but kinda happy too. I'm a beginner and when I buy my bike I'm going to learn in the parking lots first until I feel confident enough and then I'll start riding the roads. The MSF class was great for getting a feel of the bike but by no means did I feel efficient after the 2 day course. My focus is getting the basics down and work on those objectives they taught in the class and then I'll start spending more time on the roads.
Started on the S1000XR, tree years ago. Today I have 80000 kms on the clock. Actually the XR is an easy bike to learn, yet very rewarding as experience and confidence grew.
How cool to hear the stories. Excellent advice to your past selves and future squids everywhere. I am a small risk taker I guess. I ride a 150cc scooter every day. I don't want to get to 100, I want to stop and smell the flowers. 💚But even if I don't stop, I still get to smell them, and enjoy the scenery and interact with my ride. It's just so different from a closed in vehicle.
I started on a CBR 250, but quickly swapped to a 1000cc naked with zero tech, might have had ABS.... Maybe 120 hp and 75 lb-ft. Loved it, thousands of miles and lots of practice. Track schools, track days, and 20 bikes later - I'd only make a few changes.
I had a dirt bike when i was a kid. Like 6 or 7 ish. Had a little pink one to start and grew into a red bigger one. I think it had 3 gears lol. I loved riding those things. First time i rode one i whiskey throttled it and ran into so much shit lol. Now im 27 and im planning my way into getting an adv bike. Had a 250cc piece of junk like 5 years ago and rode for like 5 months. Very excited to get back into this.
Hello from Australia. I've just got my first road bike a ninja 300. Now I got to save for safety gear. It's so expensive so I'll have to get second hand gear. Love the videos guys keep up the hard work
He started on a Z50. ...I started on blue & silver late 60s Z50. I was a terror on that thing. 1st day I have it I went through my neigbors wooden fence and kept going. It was like something put of Bugs Bunny. Here I am 4 decades later and still riding.
Imma a big dude fixing to turn 45 and I wanna learn so bad.. I think I’m leaning towards starting with either an R7 or Ninja 650… I’ve gotta massive church parking lot close to my house and gonna take my time learning in that parking lot
49, newer rider on a Ninja 300. Go with the Ninja 650 if you're a big guy. I'm 5'9 170lbs, my bike fits me well. The 650 is super comfortable, fast enough, especially for a beginner, and great for long distance. It's the perfect starter for a bigger guy with confidence.
I'm 30 and got my first bike a month ago, an sv650. I love it, seems to be the perfect beginner bike but I'm already looking at upgrading to something more powerful
[I contemplated an sv650, z900, gsx-s750, and I got the brand new 2023 gsx-s750z abs. 4th bike, first Brand new, didn't test drive it, and I regret nothing. Smooth, easy to carve, weight enough for the freeways and over 100hp with 60lbs of torque. Almost at 300 miles, still "breaking it in". So smooth!]😅
I’m 30 and started on an 02 sv650 last year. Ride it for as long as you can before you upgrade. Gain the confidence you need. I’m now on my 3rd bike and got a 24 ninja zx6r. It’s worth waiting cuz the zx6r keeps up with hellcats lol
A month with the sv650 only? I say keep it for a year, learn how to corner better, brake, downshift etc. I'm 49 & a new rider. I ride a Ninja 300 and am not ready to upgrade because I know my skill level isn't there. Gonna keep it for 2 years before upgrading.. to a Ninja 650 (hopefully they increase the displacement a bit & give it a 270° crank). LOVE the looks of the Aprilia 660's though, look & sound BEAUTIFUL. You have a nice bike though, use the hell out of it! You'll appreciate the upgrade more if you wait, I think.
i don't have a bike yet, but i was planning on starting out on a ninja 400 not only because i wanna learn on a smaller bike, but also because i can start faster, like financially lol. it takes more time to save up for something like a r7 or an r1 than a 400cc. i think its a good thing to just get a bike and get started so you can get on the road with better bikes faster.
i have 18 years on all kinds of bike's and now at 40 i have 2 bike's i use almost everyday is a 2021 TTR XL 125cc street /off road and my 2004 cb 600f i'm good i don't need to go as fast as i liked when in my teens/20's now i just enjoy the ride and i don't need to put a lot of $$$ in to a hobby with my full gear for on /off road and my used bikes i'm in for around 7,000$ and the 600f is track ready in about 1/2 hours i know i'm still picking up new way to ride and i ride my own ride i only push my self to get better and pray i come home every time safe have kids make's you slow down some,,,, be safe everybody .....
Started on a 2stroke 50cc supermoto, tuned it wrecked it a couple times, learnt to wheelie, ran fron cops, offroade it with offroad tires, learnt circle wheelies, and now ( years later i got my self a brand new ninja 400 After many hours of training and watching yt and actually a couple trackdays i learnt to do knee down with correct form and im happy, its all i need on the track nothing more nothing less, but i need some new tires😂👊🏻
Sport bike guy at heart all day long. But if I could do it again. I'd have got a practical and reasonable cruiser for a first bike. They'll last forever, and comfort doesn't go out of style. 2nd bike tho, turbo Busa all day
Just bought a Versys X-300 a baby adventure touring bike and I love it. I mostly ride in town/rural highways and it’s got plenty of get up in both. Only thing I’d change is some gearing. It’s geared pretty low for some off road use and I’d rather it be more for on road and occasional off road. Still love the bike it’s a great size for me at 6’4” couldn’t be happier.
I live southwest of the DFW area. If you’ve never ridden around in the Granbury area you have to check it out. A ton of beautiful rural highways around here!
Started at 11 years old on a 1973 Yamaha DT80. Wouldn't change a thing. Not sure what I would do if I started at a later age or different era. Probably a used dual sport or a 2023 Honda XR150. For me, as a kid, I had to pay for all my motorcycles, so, price was paramount. It's really hard to say what I'd do different because i started riding motorcycles by doing BMX on a bicycle. So, dirt riding was what I wanted to do as a kid on a motorcycle. Got the DT80 cause it was also street legal. I threw a morning paper route on it at age 11. I figured if I never rode it on the street and kept in on the sidewalk I'd never get in trouble. I never did get in trouble for it 🙂
My dad got me into it too I haven’t gotten a street yet but I’m hoping to soon I just got a job with state of mine so I hope I can afford it later and I’ll take all this thank you so much YAMMIE!
My first bike was a Honda S-90 back in about 1970. I've been riding one and off ever since, with a long break when I was married. My current bike is an '05 Suzuki Bandit 650 which I don't think was ever sold in the states. It's an air cooled four cylinder bike with about 78 hp, and weighs about 480 lbs. I've owned it since 2014. I'm nowhere near capable of riding that bike to it's limits. I really do believe that the only way to get good on a motorcycle is to spend a significant amount of time riding at, and extending, your limits, and the only safe and responsible way to do that is on the track.
Lack of torque? Generally why I’m guessing most people step up to 600-1000 for the street. That’s why I did, speed is irrelevant but I can say 1000s just do everything in regards to general street duty acceleration MUCH easier👍
@@jasonportch716 Totally fair, I’m saving for a zx-6r rn but there’s still a few things I feel like I have to figure out with the 390. Mainly drifting, I’m a little worried to step up to a ton more power till I can comfortably drift so I practice on gravel and grass, just in case I get a little throttle happy. I can’t wait to get some real acceleration tho, I ride with my dad and his smallest bike is 115 hp so I can see the fun (as he blasts away from me 😂).
I loved putting about 12,000 miles in the 300-400 class bike as it made me so much more comfortable for when I got my 84 cb650 and the power was so much more even tho it's really just 30 more and I love that bike rn it's the best cheap thrills I've had as I paid 800 for it
I did competitive mountain bike for the last 24 years... I did the world master and finished the race which is an exploit by itself... I am fairly good on two very lightweight wheels. That said, my first motorcycle is a TW200 2023! Damn I was not prepared for that. After a month or so It's more and more natural. I will wait next year for my road licence and maybe after that a zx4rr would be nice! I mean very nice 😅
My first bike was a 2002 Suzuki GSXR 600, then bought a 2007 GSXR 600 then a 2006 SUZUKI DRZ400 sm then a 2009 Yamaha R1 then a 2016 Yamaha FZ09 then bought a 2017 Kawasaki Z125 pro and then 2019 Yamaha R1. I still have the Z125 pro and my 2019 R1. I have been riding since 2006 back in the day I didn’t think of lower cc motorcycles, tbh I was going for the looks of the bike, not really looking at the power and I just wanted a Suzuki. I don’t regret how I learned and just jumped on a big boy bike. I really had tons of fun with my DRZ, my 09 was my ultimate bike the power was great and the sound was breath taking, fz09 was twitchy and didn’t like the wind fatigue on higher speeds, z125 is a fun go around the neighborhood or do errands. The 2019 R1 is just perfection. ❤
I started on dirt bikes and then decided to switch to street a couple years ago. Started with an older R1, then got an '05 ZX10. I never felt like I had TOO MUCH power. You're making the case for not needing a faster bike but I can tell you that having more power has saved me from accidents because I can power through stuff on the ZX10 that I couldn't do on a smaller bike.
Dad had a fat boy Yamaha while riding with him, till we fell but never forgot the feeling of riding. Started with dirt bikes as well. My first street bike was a ninja 400 😊
Sub400 is an amazing displacement to acquire every skill and every fear, and still go home at the end of the day with stories to tell and smiles to show. Great video and great conversation. I wish I got a 300-400cc as my second bike, I'm sure I would still have it for street riding. Of course, any new rider hearing "nah, buy a 400cc" from someone sitting on a +1000cc sound like gatekeeping or something, they want to ride with you at your speed, they are as big and strong as you, but can't understand (because they don't have the hindsight) the value of learning on a sub400cc.
Just started riding motorcycle few months ago n my first bike is a 937cc ducati supersport. Definitely not a beginner bike but thanks to the traction control, quick shifter.. etc. its surprisingly pretty easy to handle imo
YAMMIE YAMMIE YAMMIE!!! Daddy! Daddy! Daddy! I got a z125!!! I've been watching your channel since like 2013-2014 and I've always wanted a motorcycle. 30 years old now, no wife or kids and I finally pulled the trigger. Gonna take the msf after I get my endorsement. I'm sssoooooo stoked dude. You helped push me over the edge.
Started on a bike in 1972/73 and it was a Honda 50....my dad bored it out to a 105cc torque monster Dez and MX my whole life til last year my first street bike....I could have started on any bike in the street tbh....dirt bikes are way harder to ride than street...😂
I did learn my expense lesson the cool guy fast times live by the seat of your pants guy back in the early 80's. Started off when I was a kid in the 70's on a trail 90, loved that little bike, up to the xr125, moved away from home got a job, saved my money put a big down payment on a Kz1000 witj the help of a bank loan, rode that bike hard and fast for about 9 months, winter comes around and I couldn't keep off of that demon, I was so attracted to the sound and speed, riding fast through a town up in Washington, snow and ice, I wrapped my baby around a big white fir😢. My dad told me you should get that 250 nighthawk son 😂. Oh dad.
I'm 47 and still look at myself as a beginner, even though I got my first bike at 19. I bought a 1979 Honda CM400 to get to work for $300. Wish I still had it now. I currently have a 2004 YZ450 and a 2006 CBR600RR
i just started this year i went in being completly new im in the UK we have a thing called DAS if your over 24 which allows you to ride any bike size since in the uk theres 3 license for bikes which goes on a power scale. i started on a 125 for a day (CBT) passed that then was put onto a 300 for 4 hours or so then the last 16 hours or so of the course i was on a 650 which you need to be on to pass your 2 tests for a full licence to ride any power bike. I bought a cfmoto 650GT before i even finished the course which i love. it is difficult starting at the deep end and i would suggest a slower progression its never a bad thing i failed one of my test 3 times because of it but you will get there in the end only reason i went straight into the big ones is because I had the mentality of i dont want to buy a 125 then just have to upgrade id rather go all in on a 650 that im going to be learning on anyway.
Get the Ninja 400 or better yet, the Ninja 500, which will be out in 6 months I'm guessing. You'll appreciate the extra power over the r3. You'll hold onto it much longer than you would the r3. I'm on a Ninja 300, but I'm a VERY conservative rider. Gonna wait for the Ninja 500 to come out though and upgrade to it in a year.
I own an R1 and cbr1000rr and I can soundly say that I wish I had not gotten into the 1k cc bikes. They are so ridiculous and you may be able to drive them tamely but those don’t want that crap and what’s the point of a 1000cc bike if you don’t do at least a little of what it was made to do.
It's better to have the power and not need it then to not and need it. I own a rc 390 and a s1000rr, I'm heavy and can't see myself without a powerful bike anymore. Soon selling the rc for a mt09
@@LpSuffle I'd rather have an R3 and ride the absolute piss out of it, then cruise around on something that I can never get wide open. In fact, if a person really wanted to develop their skills, their best option might be something like a 125cc dual sport.
@@LpSuffle I agree, but I did things the dumbest way possible and went from a vstar 650 to my heavily modified CBR1000RR. I didn’t know about the tune it had or the 1 down 2 up sprockets it had and that difference in power and acceleration blew my fragile mind 😂 but I’ve since adjusted. Only big thing that gets me is that these things run hotter than 2 rats fuckin in a wool sock and when it’s 104 degrees out, they are absolutely miserable to ride in traffic. I do agree with the having the power on tap though because it has gotten me out of bad situations and also gotten me into trouble too lol.
@@BandzzRL it’s very hard to drive them in a respectable manner 100% of the time and when you get comfortable with it, you will be addicted for life! Nothing will give you that same rush or feeling. I’ll say this though, I think liter bikes are a great bike to have in the stable, but as a primary bike it is a bad idea. Treat them like a Ferrari and go out and have fun traveling felonious speeds, but have something to bring you back to earth so you can really appreciate how savage they really are when you ride them.
I was 21 and started on a 2003 R6, I love that bike so much I’m glad I started on a 600 because years later I got into a 1000 and now I’m currently sitting on a Ninja H2. Ride with discipline always
I did a 125 for a year, then it got stolen. Then 14 years later I got an R6 and have zero regrets. Actually, I just wish I got it sooner. Progress and "what the right thing to do" is, completely depends on the individual.
Yo!! 15,000 miles in 3-6 months on your first bike is NUTS! I ride every day, I ride with my motorcycle club every week, and I ride cross-country, and in the last year I haven’t even put half that many miles on my bikes.
as an european I got the A2 licence(till 35kw bikes), rode a 50cc for 2 years and 1 month ago got a yamaha xj600n because it was cheaper then a newer 250-500cc's
Okay, im not sure why, but whenever you ride the H2, it sounds like its grinding itself apart when you let off the gas. Could be the helmet whistling or something but its literally only on the H2.
Im looking into starting on a Ninja 650, however, I have a decent reason. I live in norway, and we have a tiered licenseing system. I can get an A2 license, which maxes out at bikes with around 45 horsepower. The 650 im looking into is de-tuned to make it elligable for an A2 license, it is also cheaper than a Ninja 400, due to being sold used. There doesn't really exist a market for used Ninja 400's, and a new one is around 9000 dollars. Therefore, the 650 seems like a good option. And it also looks really cool, like a chubby short little cobra trying to devour the front wheel. I'm also looking into the RC390, R3 and ofcourse, Ninja 400. Note: I've been looking into starting on an electric bike for years, however, I simply can't afford one, and I'm more and more leaning towards getting a combustion engine bike, mainly due to price, but also due to the learning experience, throttle controll and all that.
Hey Papa Yam. Currently taking the msf and I was just wondering...can you do a video on what new riders shouldn't be afraid of when just starting to ride? Personally even the idea of stalling the bike on the streets makes me a little nervous to ride 😢
As long as you stay a little nervous youll be fine, its over confidence that gets u hurt. Just be ok with not wanting to go as fast as others and you will stay safer as the skill comes. Stalling the bike is a little embarrassing but nobody will really care.
I just got a z125 yesterday and I haven't ridden before and I feel the same way. But all you can do is just practice. Like rn I have been enjoying taking the bike out later when nobody is out.
Practice with no traffic, maybe even parking lots for a while, and once you’re very confident with the controls and handling and practice some braking you can take it out in slow traffic.. also highways are safer than the city streets with all these cars cutting out and red lights even though it may seem scarier
The R6 is actually a great beginner road bike.. idc what anyone says. You’re gonna get tired of that 300 & FAST!! Just get the 600, & Yamaha happens to make the best well rounded one
Honestly??? Buy both. I bought a ninja 400 a couple weeks ago. I kept telling everyone that it was great, it was awesome, and that there was no issue with speed... I was fucking around with a charger on the highway and I could tell dude was genuinely confused when my acceleration suddenly disappeared around 100mph. It was at that moment when I realized just how limited the 400 class really is. Not saying that you need a bike that fast, just saying that moment 100% made me realize why 400 class is shamed.
My life has been a series of irresponsible decisions. I am 37. Everything from heroin to liter bikes. I’m just gonna keep going til something kills me.
i don't see the point in starting on such small bikes the best thing i ever did was just going for the m8 114 it's perfect and the power is there when you need it but you can learn slow speed just fine too. i'd imagine sport bikes are a bit different considering how fast they get but anything lower than a 600 wouldn't seem worth it to me
im in australia got my license 2 days ago and have been riding for work (pizza delivery) on a i think 125cc honda scooter not too sure any ways for me to have gotten my license in the first place i had to complete a riders competence course i think it similar to the u.s riding safety course but it is from what i've read and done a whole lot better than the u.s course i'm now saving up for my first bike and in the past two days i have just been getting used to riding on the streets & freaking out a bit but i have been able to manage currently looking for cruiser style bikes in my area for sale it is gonna due to the laws with beginner motorcycle riders restricts me to about 625 cc bikes with other regs like power to weight ratios and the like but might look to get something like a honda shadow which is going second hand for about 2,000 - 2,500 aud and after that save a bunch for a couple years and some job changes to get a honda rebel 500 which for now not sure if it'll increase or decrease hopefully decrease is roughly 7,000 aud second hand any way just had to put this out there for some reason unsure why but just feeling like it and sorry for terrible punctuation i'm not that good at it
If I could do it over again; Financially, I should have bought a 99 VFR-800. I could even have financed the second half of my dream bike, the RS660... I can not vouch that I would have survived with more speed... So, instead of buying a 390 duke brand new, I would have bought the 401 or a used cheap bike.. Cmon lotto, I need a bigger bike!
I'm getting my bike license and I think I will start on a Ninja 650 or Yamaha R7 because here in Europe we can have them limited (half cv) for the first 2 years of bike license (idk if it’s the same everywhere)
@@peterwilson8039 True. Colorado has some of the nicest cycling infrastructure I've seen. In my state we have nice bike lanes, they are inconsistent in many places though.
Hello yammie, i always injoy your vids so im hopeing you could take the time to address 1 problem that nobody seems to want to cover. Thier is a major rut everyone is falling into on youtube while reviewing endouro bikes. Everyone gets caught up in the offroad ability of them and almost dont cover onroad at all. For real, if thats all someone cares about they get a dirtbike. Please yammie put an end to this sherade and review the other 50% of thies bikes capabilities cause everyone is dropping the ball. Personaly would love to see xr150l,tw200, and crf300ls. Thanks for all your very enertaining vids!
I ended up buying an old 600 as my first bike, but tbh it was honestly because of lack of options in the $3k price range that I wanted to stay under. Everything I was finding online was beat to hell. I really have my eyes on the CFMoto 450SS though.
Can’t go wrong with either. Ninja 400 is a proven bike with a long line of good reviews. 450ss is a brand new bike that is super good but doesn’t have the following and guaranteed reliability of the ninja 400.
I don't know what I am. I've been riding a bike everyday in one of the busiest cities in India for almost a decade. Never had an accident, has to do offroading everyday😂(the roads here are shyt), has very good control over it, that my old two stroke Yamaha doesn't even have a front brake. But the most powerful bike I've owned is an Enfield 350 and I have supreme control over it, I could lane split and control that 200 kilos boat in really bad traffic with just using my hips (don't know the exact term), without using legs The thing is I'm moving to Canada and don't know what bike to get. Should I go for the 250 - 400 cc bikes or the 600-900 cc bikes
Honestly I just suggest new riders get an H2. You can always turn on the traction control to full 100% which will save you until you get good enough to do mile long wheelies down the highway.
Just got a really good deal on a GSX 250R, which theyve trashed a ton on this channel, but besides the fact that im just loving having a bike, im not sure i could be convinced that the "painfully weak and boring" bike isnt exactly what i need at this stage Ps is yammie Brazilian!? Gente da gente!
Am i consider as a beginner?? if i have been driving since i was 12yrs old (dirtbike, underbone, scooter) and im 20yrs young at the moment. The only problem i have is how much it cost to own a 600 and above sportbikes
I always tell people, going through each class or size of bike can never be a bad thing. You will always benefit from the slow progression
It’s the same way you build muscle!
except financially
Except your wallet and outgrowing it very quickly
Nah, start on a busa
Listening to you guys makes me realize how lucky I am to be alive. I got my 1st bike at 26 and it was a brand new 2002 R6 and I had never really ridden a bike. I wasn’t even able to ride the bike home once the sales guy pushed it from the showroom to the parking lot I had to call my brother in-law to take it home for me.
My brother in-law had Gixxer1000 and my other friend had CBR 900RR that R6 had no problem keeping up with them. I did have to ride it way harder than normal but I realize now that I only kept up with them because I was way more reckless then them.
I got my cbr 1000 at 18 luckily I’m 21 now and I’m still doing good
I’m a 48 yo beginner with a Husqvarna 401 and I thank you for the advice. I’m loving it
That was a wise choice. Great bike, super cool looking, and people say it's really comfy.
That’s what I’m looking into! I’m 26
Yeah I didn't like the seat height, plus bike felt uncomfortable for me.
I just purchased a Svartpilen 401 and I’m 5’6. Seat height is perfect, it’s quick, comfortable. I’m still under the 1000km mark so can’t push it past 80km yet
Still a new rider. Just turned 49.had a N250 that I hardly rode, now a N300. Finally got my license and now try to ride regularly.
You really think God advises people on which motorcycle to buy?
@@VelkePivo I prayed and He answered.
@@JayN4GOHappy to hear your ok. Be careful out there 🙏❤️
smart age size has zero to do with it Riding skill and experience is everything.
I like this style video, riding around and talking about motorcycles and riding. Do more of this.
Minus the racing, Brandon’s evolution through motorcycles is like looking back into my childhood. Great video.
Track school and days best mods ever, mod the rider before modding the bike, you will be faster after school than with ecu pipes cams whatever.
Same situation with my father. He forbid motorcycles . So now at 35 I started on a yz250f
I had the same three gear then upgraded too just no pink😭 that’s awesome man I’m alil younger wish you the best
Hello from Australia. I've just got my first road bike a ninja 300. Now I got to save for safety gear. It's so expensive so I'll have to get second hand gear. Love the videos guys keep up the hard work
Make sure you get a new helmet
I got my first bike- a Suzuki GN125... it is awesome!! So much fun around town- but NOT on the highway.
@@thatninjaguy420I started at 31 on a 2000 sv650, love it and still have it, just recently upgraded to a 2018 triumph street triple r
You'll appreciate the upgrade more if you wait, I think.
i don't have a bike yet, but i was planning on starting out on a ninja 400 not only because i wanna learn on a smaller bike, but also because i can start faster, like financially lol. it takes more time to save up for something like a r7 or an r1 than a 400cc. i think its a good thing to just get a bike and get started so you can get on the road with better bikes faster.
i have 18 years on all kinds of bike's and now at 40 i have 2 bike's i use almost everyday is a 2021 TTR XL 125cc street /off road and my 2004 cb 600f i'm good i don't need to go as fast as i liked when in my teens/20's now i just enjoy the ride and i don't need to put a lot of $$$ in to a hobby with my full gear for on /off road and my used bikes i'm in for around 7,000$ and the 600f is track ready in about 1/2 hours i know i'm still picking up new way to ride and i ride my own ride i only push my self to get better and pray i come home every time safe have kids make's you slow down some,,,, be safe everybody .....
and most of my bike are 700cc our less i not a fan of 1000cc+ bike's not for me
Started on a 2stroke 50cc supermoto, tuned it wrecked it a couple times, learnt to wheelie, ran fron cops, offroade it with offroad tires, learnt circle wheelies, and now ( years later i got my self a brand new ninja 400
After many hours of training and watching yt and actually a couple trackdays i learnt to do knee down with correct form and im happy, its all i need on the track nothing more nothing less, but i need some new tires😂👊🏻
Sport bike guy at heart all day long. But if I could do it again. I'd have got a practical and reasonable cruiser for a first bike. They'll last forever, and comfort doesn't go out of style.
2nd bike tho, turbo Busa all day
I so glad to have this insight, thank you so much guys.
No,longer available uk and the 400cc version should be a thing
I never did get in trouble for it 🙂
I always forget he’s in Austin. He is riding my the same ride I do to work every on the same lanes. This is crazy lol
My dad got me into it too I haven’t gotten a street yet but I’m hoping to soon I just got a job with state of mine so I hope I can afford it later and I’ll take all this thank you so much YAMMIE!
I started a year ago (and ride all the time) on a ktm 390 and just now feel like i’m getting close to truly maxing it on the street.
H2 best beginner bike 😂😂😂😂🤣 the moment I saw that green forks I understood it's H2 and then that supercharger fuuuuuu sound confirmed it😅
Just started riding motorcycle few months ago n my first bike is a 937cc ducati supersport. Definitely not a beginner bike but thanks to the traction control, quick shifter.. etc. its surprisingly pretty easy to handle imo
Yeah I’m thinking thinking the same…just want to own a Ducati lol 😂..is it that crazy 😜
15k miles in 6 months is crazy
This made me decide not to get a cbr650r but start on somethign smaller, like a 500r or a r3
The Ninja 500 is definitely my next bike. still a new rider on a 300 but can't wait to upgrade next year!
I cant wait to start. Im just saving money right now and I cant save fast enough 😤
I’m in need of that h2 beginner bike🥺😢 your the Luckiest person in the world.
Ktm is making a 1390 soon. That will obviously be the beginner's choice when it comes out.
Everytime I come across one of yammies vids I think "These guys are squares" lol
Get a turbo busa so you can grow into it.
Started on a bike in 1972/73 and it was a Honda 50....my dad bored it out to a 105cc torque monster
Dez and MX my whole life til last year my first street bike....I could have started on any bike in the street tbh....dirt bikes are way harder to ride than street...😂
The used dualsport route is the way I went. I actually got my first bike this year.
I just got a 04 fz6 as my first bike as a 27 yo. I love it so far
i just started this year i went in being completly new im in the UK we have a thing called DAS if your over 24 which allows you to ride any bike size since in the uk theres 3 license for bikes which goes on a power scale. i started on a 125 for a day (CBT) passed that then was put onto a 300 for 4 hours or so then the last 16 hours or so of the course i was on a 650 which you need to be on to pass your 2 tests for a full licence to ride any power bike.
New getting into riding. My brother let me try is 2017 R3 and i fell in love. Getting a 2023 R3 really soon.
I’m scared to get one because of it😭
@@LpSuffle I agree, but I did things the dumbest way possible and went from a vstar 650 to my heavily modified CBR1000RR.
I started on a 2001 victory v92c at 16 then hopped on a 2005 gsx-r 1000 i few weeks ago (im 17 now)
"a bit more spectacular" 😂 still surprised this man survived
I was 21 and started on a 2003 R6, I love that bike so much I’m glad I started on a 600 because years later I got into a 1000 and now I’m currently sitting on a Ninja H2. Ride with discipline always
I did a 125 for a year, then it got stolen. Then 14 years later I got an R6 and have zero regrets. Actually, I just wish I got it sooner. Progress and "what the right thing to do" is, completely depends on the individual.
It's my first season and I'm loving my 2011 Ninja 400R
Yo!! 15,000 miles in 3-6 months on your first bike is NUTS!
I ride every day, I ride with my motorcycle club every week, and I ride cross-country, and in the last year I haven’t even put half that many miles on my bikes.
Thats crazy seat time!!!! Did you have to do any special maintenance do to the short interval of high miles
I bought my bike a week ago and I already put over 600 miles. I could see him doing that xD
@@1sttimegunowner Nah, it’s a brand new bike, so aside from on-time oil changes (the break-in one and then another at 3k), I’ve done nothing.
as an european I got the A2 licence(till 35kw bikes), rode a 50cc for 2 years and 1 month ago got a yamaha xj600n because it was cheaper then a newer 250-500cc's
80% of the video: H2 turbo squeal
20% actually dialog
The H2 is like the motorcycle equivalent of the Mercedes SL Roadster, heavy but powerful.
Start on a buza, step up to h2. Profit!
The R6 is actually a great beginner road bike.. idc what anyone says. You’re gonna get tired of that 300 & FAST!! Just get the 600, & Yamaha happens to make the best well rounded one
Am I the only one with new school mentality but love the old school cruiser type bikes?
Honestly???
[You sound like a public saftey hazard. Maybe think of a goal that's fun and doesn't end up killing people.]😅
i don't see the point in starting on such small bikes the best thing i ever did was just going for the m8 114 it's perfect and the power is there when you need it but you can learn slow speed just fine too. i'd imagine sport bikes are a bit different considering how fast they get but anything lower than a 600 wouldn't seem worth it to me
Busa for beginner bike.
Only the fit live.
im in australia got my license 2 days ago and have been riding for work (pizza delivery) on a i think 125cc honda scooter not too sure any ways for me to have gotten my license in the first place i had to complete a riders competence course i think it similar to the u.s riding safety course but it is from what i've read and done a whole lot better than the u.s course i'm now saving up for my first bike and in the past two days i have just been getting used to riding on the streets & freaking out a bit but i have been able to manage currently looking for cruiser style bikes in my area for sale it is gonna due to the laws with beginner motorcycle riders restricts me to about 625 cc bikes with other regs like power to weight ratios and the like but might look to get something like a honda shadow which is going second hand for about 2,000 - 2,500 aud and after that save a bunch for a couple years and some job changes to get a honda rebel 500 which for now not sure if it'll increase or decrease hopefully decrease is roughly 7,000 aud second hand any way just had to put this out there for some reason unsure why but just feeling like it and sorry for terrible punctuation i'm not that good at it
660cc is Max displacement in AU
Planning on getting the g310 gs as my first bike and i can‘t wait!
If I could do it over again;
Financially, I should have bought a 99 VFR-800.
I just bought a v4 my first year back riding after 20 years off. I feel attacked 😅
Hayabusa
That's tge vest beginner bike for sure
You guys have some nice bike lanes out there. Nice!
But notice that they have car traffic on both sides, and no physical barrier. 🤐
@@peterwilson8039 True. Colorado has some of the nicest cycling infrastructure I've seen. In my state we have nice bike lanes, they are inconsistent in many places though.
I started on a kawasaki ninja 250, then i got a yamaha fz6r, then i got a gsxr750, then went to a cbr600rr , and now have a z125 and a yamaha xsr700😅
I have a CBR 125R. I'm 28. I don't need the ability to twist n' die. maybe later.
I race myself, very resonable comments. Good job!
Starting with a weak bike gives you a perfect excuse to buy another bike. And you WILL want any excuse to buy another bike!
I havent it learnt yet, but im considering a Ninja 400
epik video
Rt
I just got a Zx14r and a 250r I find enjoyment in both
I started on a cbr600rr 2 weeks ago I think I’m ready for a 1000!
No brother take your time, unlock 100% capability of your 600rr and then move on
I ended up buying an old 600 as my first bike, but tbh it was honestly because of lack of options in the $3k price range that I wanted to stay under. Everything I was finding online was beat to hell. I really have my eyes on the CFMoto 450SS though.
Yam, can you do a CF 450SS compared to a ninja 400, im not sure which to get for my first bike
450ss you get more for the money plus it’s not like CFmoto is a small brand, they are used world wide
Can’t go wrong with either. Ninja 400 is a proven bike with a long line of good reviews. 450ss is a brand new bike that is super good but doesn’t have the following and guaranteed reliability of the ninja 400.
@@Butts0hboithey’re a ktm partner if I’m not mistaken
Omg if you could come to houston for 1 day an teach me
Do you kno if any places to learn out here????
You are pro because you had a 300 as your first bike. Ride those bikes in lower gear to be a hero!!!!!!
you guys did it for me i was gonna get a ninja 400 for my first bike but areas limited so i think im gonna get a r3 :) cant wait
I don't know what I am. I've been riding a bike everyday in one of the busiest cities in India for almost a decade. Never had an accident, has to do offroading everyday😂(the roads here are shyt), has very good control over it, that my old two stroke Yamaha doesn't even have a front brake.
But the most powerful bike I've owned is an Enfield 350 and I have supreme control over it, I could lane split and control that 200 kilos boat in really bad traffic with just using my hips (don't know the exact term), without using legs
The thing is I'm moving to Canada and don't know what bike to get. Should I go for the 250 - 400 cc bikes or the 600-900 cc bikes
I fear large bridge grates
Honestly I just suggest new riders get an H2. You can always turn on the traction control to full 100% which will save you until you get good enough to do mile long wheelies down the highway.
Newborn Squids gotta rip dank nunus somehow! 😂
Just got a really good deal on a GSX 250R, which theyve trashed a ton on this channel, but besides the fact that im just loving having a bike, im not sure i could be convinced that the "painfully weak and boring" bike isnt exactly what i need at this stage
Ps is yammie Brazilian!? Gente da gente!
Am i consider as a beginner?? if i have been driving since i was 12yrs old (dirtbike, underbone, scooter) and im 20yrs young at the moment. The only problem i have is how much it cost to own a 600 and above sportbikes
Bro I just watched your draw my life again…
