nice book, very pretty stamps
The Andrew Jackson stamps at 8:14 are not only nice looking, but they are highly symbolic of the time that they were issued. Stamps were often printed in black to indicate mourning. This stamp was issued in 1863 when the Civil War was raging. The sad expression on Andrew Jackson and the black printing was indicative of mourning over the fact that the nation was being ripped apart by a terrible civil war.

Wow, less than half price for the book. I ended up the owner of a couple peoples stamp collections. I sure wish I knew more about them. That's definitely why I'm enjoying this. Mabey I'll learn something from you. Besides what I read in a comment below about this album. I think it's worth every penny besides the knowledge I'm sure you'll obtain from it is irreplaceable.

What a great collection. I have looked at Apfelbaum but unfortuately most are beyond my price range. You can tell that this is an old album as there is a "Zone" in the address. Sta is an abbreviation for station.

Amazed
S.M. = "secret mark" . These are the tiny marks added by the Continental Bank Note Company to the dies they had received from their predecessors, the National Bank Note Company, as directed by their contracts with the Post Office Department. The absence of the secret marks on that group of 10 cent stamps near 13:10-13:30 is an indication that none of them was a product of Continental. Those items are all in fact examples of #209 the redesigned 10c of 1881 by the American Bank Note Company.

I'm James Kelly from Viola, Wisconsin. I was robbed of several stamp books just like it by a Bobby hirsfield and Dylan Hughes and Lisa and they were identical to that. What number? Just below the stamps, I have stamp books the same and I'm missing lots of them from them. I will talk to the Vernon county Police department. I would like to know where you got them from an order from in their real names to help to see if they stole them and sold them to you

Appreciate it! I honestly do not know why there were so many purple stamps. I did notice lots of purple stamps especially with the shade variations in this album. Maybe it has something to do with the Universal Postal Union who took over in... 1898?... I think? Maybe if someone who knows reads these comments they could chime in :)

It might be worth selling. You could have a stamp dealer value it.
So what did you end up doing with this album? Take it apart and put some stamps in your own album or keep it together?
I took all of the stamps out. Most ended up in my 1847 heirloom mystic album and others went in my b.o.b mystic album

My wife and i inherited stamps from my mom, so we took them to get valuation and they said that the collection has no value and we should donate them, but looking at your collection we have the same stamps? We're we being scammed?
