We've been told all sorts of stories of God. We've painted all kinds of pictures in our minds. But who is God? To some of us, He's a mighty guy in the sky. To others, He might be angry and vengeful or kind and wise. But before we can build an idea of God, we must first undo that which we already think we know.

Great video. I had a very….unconventional childhood. I didn’t find out I was Jewish until I was 12. It took me a very long time to come to terms with that for all the reasons most children would. No toys on Christmas, no candy on Easter, no joining in on all the reindeer games during the “holidays”. From 12 years of age until I moved out at 17 I lived and was raised in a very conservative Jewish household. From meat and milk dishes, no lights, tv or cooking on the sabbath, fasting during the high holidays, building a Sukkah in the chilly Michigan fall, to scrubbing the entire house, oven, refrigerator, cabinets, EVERYTHING with toothpicks to ensure there was no trace of food unsuitable for Pesach. It was something I did not enjoy or could relate to. There were a few things I did grasp on to with curiosity. The concept of G-d. Why we don’t spell out the word. The fact whenever I spoke to a Rabbi the answers he gave were most often not so cut and dry. The Rabbi’s I spoke with never shy’d away from or avoided saying “I don’t know” or from pointing out that nobody knows. At that early age in my mind I started deconstructing my image of G-d. If there was one thing I was born with it was a noticeable relationship with G-d. I spoke with him, I prayed to him often when life was unimaginably difficult. I believed in G-d ever since I can remember yet I cannot remember being taught about G-d. It’s just been in me. Judaism challenged by concept of what G-d is. How can I imagine a picture of something that is so large and complex it cannot be contained in words? I formulated a theory that G-d is the energy we feel, see, experience in everything. Energy is in everything. From dirt, insects, plant/animal life, the entire universe. Energy is the foundation of life. It’s what is responsible for creation. The lack of energy is the definition of death. I can relate to that. I love Judaism for showing me how basic the complex can be.

I'm not Jewish but I love Jewish thought. It makes sense. Torah is profound bc we learn what G-d is not. I learned G-d is not beyond our reach nor is our ability to be godly.

I say, @Jewish Learning Institute, God is the all encompassing mind of existence and what it creates is the various attributes of itself that goes through a neverending process of learning and forgetting as the means of having some purpose for being. Thus we all are entities within the all ENCOMPASSING being existence is.
