You guys are so sweet! Thanks for sharing your experience in Copenhagen.
Thank you so much!! We had the best time :) and thank you for watching!!
Always nice to hear foreigners experiences in your own country. Good to se that you are having a good time.
Rosenborg Castle was used as a royal residence until around 1710. So it is actually more than 300 years ago it was last used as a permanent residence for the royal family. But even as a Dane I didn't know that as I had to google it.
We absolutely love Copenhagen and are so thankful we get to explore it!! Thank you so much for watching our videoâșïž
Also thanks for that great information on the castle!!
The ceremoni going on is the changing of the royal guads at Amalienborh. The place in front of Rosenborg is the barracks for the soldiers in the queens guard âš
So interesting!! Thank you so much for your comment đ„°
I was in Copenhagen Dec. 3-5th and stayed in Nyhavn. I loved staying there. I would definitely do it again!!
It is such a wonderful place!! Staying in Nyhavn would be amazing! Thanks for watching :)
Excited for the Christmas market video next. I just came back from Austria, Vienna and Salzburg Christmas markets were epic. Europe does Christmas right
Oh my gosh we can only imagine how magical they were there!! Im sure you had the best time! Europe definitely does Christmas right đđđŒ
Copenhagen is the safest city I've ever visited. Things like social security, great environment and architectural view, outstanding transport system will help you to access easily anywhere within the city. Just mind blowingâ€ïž

We totally agree! It is such an amazing city! Thank you for your comment and thanks so much for watching :)

I agree Copenhagen is safe, but itâs definitely not the safest city. Dubai is way safer
@@danielkhaled5981 umm maybe but here everyone share his perspective & opinion, so I respect your opinion. I've been living here for 2 years (also I'd been in Dubai for 2 months) and found it an amazing country.
Like when the music stopped when you opened the door. No problem overpaying when you use a restaurants wifi. JENNY YOUR FACE REPRESENTS HOW WE FEEL ABOUT CHRISTMAS MARKETS. Great hosting Jacob! Not sure if beer and coffee would taste great together. Jenny, you have the voice of an angel! Great video!
So true about the WiFi!! LOVE US A GOOE CHRISTMAS MARKETđâïž thank you so much friends!!âșïž
Back then when the Rosenberg Castle was built, it actually was used as the Kings summer resident because it was fare away from the city. The castle the King lived in was called KĂžbenhavns Slot = The castle of Copenhagen and it layed on the same spot where Christiansborg slot/Christiansborg castle is today. In fact the Christiansborg slot is the third castle, the other two burned down to the ground in a great fire.
Ah yes that is so interesting, we just read about the fire. It is such a shame. But the castles were beautiful anyway! Thank you so much for the information and for watching our video :)
@@JacobandJennyTravel There's another castle called Frederiksborg in the town HillerĂžd. It's build in the same style as Rosenborg, but much bigger. HillerĂžd is a 40 min. train ride from Copenhagen.
you mean rosenborg carsel
Mener i ikke Rosenborg slot?
Thanks for visiting our small country!
Sometimes danes may seem reserved and unwelcoming, but deep down we're just a little shy. We love to show everything Denmarks got! Glad you liked it here.
We loved our time there!! Itâs such a wonderful place! Thank you for watching :)
Christiansborg castle is the seat of the Danish parliament, Folketinget and of the cabinet. Queen Margrethe the II is our head of state. But she is a figurehead and has little real power. Our prime minister runs the government. We have elections for the parliament every four years.
Great information!! Thank you so much for watching :)
Christiansborg is also the old resident of Kings and Queens of Denmark, you can visit and Watch the parlement work.
Or go to Rosenborg castle and see crown jewels of Denmark and Danish Crown Regalia the vault is open for the public like a museum, the castle is also Home to the danish royal guard. the guard will march everyday around noon for Rosenborg to amalienborg, for a guard shift, and then back again with the guard who is off duty
Our Queen is actually one of the Minds with the most power. If she doesn't sign a new bill (law) it cannot take effect, though that had never happened.
Iâm danish
The ceremony music is from the Queens Guard. Every day at 12 there's a shift of the guard, they march with much from Rosenborg to Amalienborg, and the retired shift march back to Rosenborg.
The baracks for the Queens Guard is located next to Rosenborg.
So interesting! Thank you for that information! It is a beautiful castle! And thank you for watching :)
@@JacobandJennyTravel there's always a lot people joining and following the march - you can join them too! đ
Its the music from the "Royal Guard" from their Barracks, walking to change the Guards at Amalienborg Castle. Actually 4 houses built for noblemen after a huge fire, which ruined the center and while the new Christianborg Castle became built (The present home of the Danish Government). But the King liked the housing so much that he bought all 4 houses and never moved to Christiansborg, though they have room for the Royal Family inside also!
Wow that is so interesting! Thank you so much for that information! That is such a shame about the fire. And thank you so much for watching!!
Merry Christmas, you guys! đ
Merry Christmas to you as wellđ
Thanks guide for us to see beautiful place
We are so happy you enjoy it. Thank you for watching friend :)

You should come here in the summertime, go to the harbour swimming zones and the beaches, the forrests
That sounds amazing!! We will definitely be back some summer to do all that đđŒ
Actually itâs over 500 years ago the Royal family were actually living in Rosenborg slot.
Good to know! Thanks for your comment :)
As a Dane, i appreciate you trying to pronounce the danish names correctly
(: Mange tak
We are so glad we pronounced it right!! We tried!! Hahah! Thanks so much for watching :)
Regarding the ceremony, it actually happens every day at noon. It is the barracks of the royal guards, and they march to Amalienborg every day to replace the previous guards. Depending on who's home, it might just be the guards marching, or it can be with the complete orchestra as well.
The only time the guards did not guard the royal castle, was during WW2 when the police would take over the guard. I'm glad you enjoyed your trip to Denmark, you will always be welcome here :D
Wow that is amazing!! Thanks for all that great information! We loved Denmark and will for sure be back! Thanks for watching :)
@@JacobandJennyTravel ping me whenever you get back, and I'll give you a detailed description what happens around the guards, as a former guard myself :)
You should check out Kongens Have, the garden you think was a bit missing out, during the summer. It will probably give you more the feeling of being a garden fit for a king
We will have to check it out if we get there this summer!! Thanks for the information! Thanks for watching and have a Merry Christmas đ
You should check out CopenHill on RefshaleĂžen. It's a waste treatment plant with a year round ski slope. Has great views from there. Take the elevator up and walk down along the slope. Free to visit. And not so far from there you have Reffen street food. I would really recommend that you dress up warm (over-dress up) and rent some bikes from Donkey Republic. Exploring Copenhagen on bikes makes a lot of sense, and it's a great opportunity to explore and experience the city.
Wow that all sounds so fun!!! Thank you so much for the recommendations! And thank you for watching our video âșïž
Iâm from Denmark and I love seeing people visit us, I live in NykĂžbing Falster which is 1 hour and 30 minutes away from Copenhagen.
It is a wonderful country and we are so glad we got to experience it! You are lucky to live there! Thanks so much for watching :)
Come back in the summer. The city really comes alive. And be sure to visit the outer parts of the city as well.
We definitely want to come back for the summer!! Thanks for watching :)
Jeg elsker nÄr folk kommer til Danmark!

We love visiting Denmark!! Thanks so much for watching :)
Concerning Danish pastry:
1. It's called "Wiener-brĂžd" (Vienna bread) here in Denmark because there was a long baker's strike some 200 years ago, and so bakers from Austria stepped in, also introducing their own recipes.
2. It has become a tradition that pastry shops sell oversized cinnamon "snails" on Wednesdays.
3. Although originally from the island of Fyn, some pastry shops in Copenhagen sell the ""brunsvier" (brownburner), concocted by charcoal burners who needed a lot of energy for their arduous work. It's basically a mix og butter or margarine and brown sugar on top on white bread. I ate loads of them when I was a full-time bicycle messenger a couple of decades ago. Yummy!
The cinnamon bread is also good.
And don't miss the Tivoli Christmas market. Go there after sunset.
Thanks for all that great information!! The food all sounds delicious! Have a Merry Christmasđ
@@JacobandJennyTravel And a happy Yule-tide to you.
Can I just say, it's nice to see someone actually exploring a bit of Frederiksberg. Usually watching these type of videos, its always Copenhagen hahah :D
(yes I know Frederiksberg is surrounded by Copenhagen. but as someone who lives in Frederiksberg and goes to school at a different municipality being Copenhagen, I see it as two different cities.)
We loved Frederiksberg!! We actually stayed there with our friend :) thanks so much for watching!
Re: RundetÄrn (Round Tower)
The Russian Zar (or a close relative) once visited Copenhagen and the tower. Be s/he was not keen on walking all the way to the top, so s/he stayed in the horsedrawn carriage and was driven all/most of the way to the top.
Whoa that is so interesting, We didn't know that, thank you for that great information! And thank you for watching âșïž
@@JacobandJennyTravel It was Zar Peter The Great, and they may have had problems turning the cart before going down again, with the horse then in front. In Nykoebing F. they still have a house named "The Zars House" Because he slept in there, on the way back to Russia!
@@JacobandJennyTravel King Christian X (Christian theTenth) produced lots of daughters that were married into the European royal families. He was then known as the "Father in-law" of the European royal courts. One of his daughters was married too the last Tsar and was executed with the rest of the family in Jekatarinenburg in 1919.

It seems you missed the Queens residency the caste Amalienborg, just 2 minutes walk from Nyhavn. It is so amazing with the four old buildings and the guards

Rosenborg castle was a summerhouse for King Christian 4th, it was in that time outside the city centre.

The ceremony at Royal Guard's barracks, right by the Rosenborg Castle, was probably the annual appraisal by the Queen - in person of course - of the year's best guard as selected by his comrades based on human qualities as well as military ones.
That is so interesting! Thanks so much for that great information :)
Haven't seen anyone else mention this, but RundetÄrn is also connected to a church named "Trinitatis Kirken". If you ever get the opportunity to get inside, do so. It's magnificent!
Oh wow that is interesting! We will have to check it out next time we are in Copenhagen :) Thanks for letting us know!
In the summer it is even better
We hope to come back this summer :) thanks for watching!
The soldiers you ran into, are the Royal Guard change, which happens every day. The guards march from the barracks to the Royal Castle.
That is great to know! Thanks so much for watching :)
The Rosenberg castle is over 400 years old. You said you could imagine 200 years ago
Haha yes I can imagine it 200 or 400 years ago! It feels like a fairytale! Thank you for watching!! :)
The spiral instead of a staircase in the round tower also was so it was possible to ride up there on horse instead of walking on foot.
That is so interesting!! Thank you for the great info and for watching :)
The Castle where you saw all the Soldiers, where actually The barracks for Den Kongelige Livgarde (The Royal Danish Lifegaurds). - All the diffrent Royal Families that have EVER been, have at some point in time had a Military Regiment specifically formed, Who's tasking it was/is to act as BODYGAURDS for the at ANY TIME reigning Monarch.
DEN KONGELIGE DANSKE LIVGARDE (The royal Danish Lifeguards) is the worlds oldest Military Regiment, that is still doing the job they where formed to do 364 years ago,
That is 364 years of protecting a "HEAD OF STATE" whit out failure.
Wow thank you for all of that super interesting information! We appreciate it. And thank you so much for watching our video :)
Uhmmm ... The SWEDISH Royal Lifeguard just turned 500 years last year, sooooo ... ;)
â@@JacobandJennyTravel I belive the parade you saw is the one held for each guard company near the end of their 4 month of guardduty, before they are send home.
The royal guards you will see in town are young men (and women) doing their "mandatory" military service.
Currently everyone are volunteers since the number of people called up for service each year is a lot smaller than the number of young people of each "class".
Women are not required to serve , but can volunteer for service.
Each day A unit march from the barrack you saw true the city to Amalieborg that is the royal residence. To relive the guards that have been on duty since the day before.
It starts at 12 at Amalienborg.
(note that they do perform actual guard duty and are not just there for the tourist, so their guns do have a round loaded and any orders from them must be obeyed)
Wow thatâs so interesting!! Thank you so much for all that information. We had so much fun watching it. And thank you for watching our video âșïž
@@luffegasen7711 That is true, But for Part of the 500 years, Sweden was part of the Kingdom of Denmark. So the swedish royal Family, was part of the Danish Royal Family.

@@JacobandJennyTravel Well thanks for the vid! I dont se alot of youtubers viseting denmark
6:45 the castle was actually outside Copenhagen when build, as a hunting/holyday castle out side the city, the music sound you hear is from the barracks of the Royal Danish Gard, my home place as a volunteer in the Royal Gard, after 6 mounts of "shit" we stayed at this place as our final destination, 3 mounts of gard duty for our beloved Queen, at all her castles
Wow that is so interesting!! Thanks so much for that great information! And have a merry Christmasđ
You should visit one of the Peter Beier Chokolade stores. They're by a Danish founded quality chocolate company, an they sell absolutely amazing hand made chocolate truffles and other chocolate products! Some of the stores also have a café (and their hot chocolates are just amazing, you can choose between 20+ kind of chocolate!). Two of the stores in Copenhagen are the one in Axel Towers across the street from the Tivoli main entrance, and one on Store Kongensgade 3 (the coziest one if you ask me!) just 1 min from King's New Square (Kongens Nytorv)!

The Rosenborg castle is the garrison for the queen's lifeguard. The parade you saw was for the changing of the guard at the palace. The guards are not show-ponies they are war tried in Iraq and Afghanistan. Their weapons are live with real bullets. So do not mess with them.
Wow good to know! Thank you for that information! And thank you for watching :)

So glad, that you felt safe and happy. We had our first deadly islamic terrorist attack some years ago, so not all is hunky dory here...
We also have trouble with Arab gangs, that rival each other about the drug market. But all in all, yes, we are proud to have a fairly peaceful city, where you tourists are very, very welcome!đđâ€ïž
We did truly enjoy it and definitely felt super safe! But it is true no place is ever 100% risk free!! Thank you for your warm welcome :)
I donât think we have any unsafe places you can go. In general street robberies rarely happen and only gang members shoot each other, so even after a night out in Copenhagen you feel safe walking to the metro or train station. The queens guard have their barracks next to the castle. A shame you didnât go in to see the Crown Jewels. What is unique about it, is that they are actively used, so sometimes pieces are missing because the royal family use them for different official business.
We totally agree we felt so safe there!! Hopefully we can see the Crown Jewels next time we are there. That is so interesting they are still being used! Thanks so much for watching and have a Merry Christmas đâșïž

6 minutes and 22 sekunds into your video your at at Rosenborg castle. Not only did the king used to live here but today it is the home of the Royal Lifeguards who guards the Royal palaces and the Royal family where ever they go. The Royal Lifeguards was founded on the 30th. of june in the year 1658 by King Fredrik the third. The Royal Lifeguards are young men and women serving there tour of duty for 8 month. It is the hardest soldier training in the country exept from the special forces. If you complete the traing your will be a member of a special group of people called "Garder" (it means kings guard) for the rest of your life. The "fuzzy" thing as you call it is actually a bearskind headwear. There goes one hole blackbear to one bearskind headwear. There is at all times 4 companies of guards in the castle and the walk to the Castle Amalienborg, where the Royal family lives, every day for changing of the guards. The guard changes every 24 hour and every soldier is on guard 2 hours, then 2 hours in ready position and then 2 hours of. Eventhough this looks stunning ceremonially, make no mistake about it, these soldiers are fierce warriors. I am a very proud farther of a Garder.

Welcome to our city but as a Dane.
Copenhagen dont feel like Denmark anymore, to many foreginers + tourist, overpriced shops and cafes.. i would recommend visiting other parts of Denmark.
Locals in Copenhagen will ofc recommend you expensive upscale places, as they are rich as hell to begin with.
Thank you for your warm welcome!! We for sure want to explore other parts of Denmark someday! :)
I would disagree. The other parts of Denmark are usually plane and boring, nothing really happens, and claiming that everyone is rich in Copenhagen, is just a lie. Yeah, if you live in the center, thereâs a lot of rich people, but where Iâve grown up and many others. There arenât really that many people not struggling with money issues.
