All world class guitarists no matter what genre they play knows Django was unique a one off who will never be seen again

The uniqueness comes from his burn injury on his left hand, he only had full use of his thumb, index finger and middle finger, so he developed his own technique that made up his unique sound

There is a story about Django and Segovia meeting at a party in Paris in the ‘30s. Segovia asked if he could have the score for Nuages and Django just shrugged and said ‘I made it up’. I don’t know how true it is.

it's on record that Django never rehearsed he just played whatever came into his head at the time

Django was amazing and beautiful with his music. Truly unique.

If you already mentioned Roland Dyens, maybe you'll consider making reactions on his performance of his own arrangement of Bachiana Brazilera n.5 and also his own piece "Fuoko", hope I didn't butcher names of the pieces too much
EDIT I just now discovered the man passed away in 2016! When I checked his videos last time 2-3 years ago, I was confident that he's still alive and well. I was mistaken greatly. He was only 61... Well, that's life...

This is what sets Django apart. The highs the lows the unpridictability that always holds your attention

This is not Django Reinhardt, this is a cover. There are several takes of Nuages recorded by Django, this is not one of them.

Of the actual original recording (which are all masterpieces) this is my personal favorite:

This has got to be Django there are to many trademark Django flourishes and no guitarist can play harmonics like this. if it's not Django the guitarist playing this must be the best guitarist in the world

    • @RootinrPootine

@@davidwalker5054 You know you could just search the artist and song-the second result is the song being covered - yes the actual Django solo is being copied (transcribed). And no it doesn’t sound like Django and it’s not as good.

But yes there are many genius level gypsy jazz guitarists and a couple of them do sound a lot like Django but not this guy in the reaction.

@@davidwalker5054 (ps it’s acceptable in the style to copy Django’s solos once in a while because the whole ethnomusicology is based on him)
