A LONG TIME AGO, IN A GALAXY FAR, FAR AWAY!
Longplay of game Super Star Wars, released in 1992 for the Super Nintendo based on the movie Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, and follows the plot of this movie, although some allowances were made to adapt the story to suit an action game.
It is a very good game and that has a certain loyalty to the plot of the film, where our hero Luke Skywalker way to becoming a Jedi Knight following the advice of the Master Obi-Wan Kenobi, his two friends robots (R2-D2 and C3PO) and also travels through space along with Han Solo and Chewie (also playable characters). It is a simple game but very faithful to the film, find games based on movies is very difficult but with merit this could be one of the best and this movie is one of my favorites of all times). Played on Jedi Difficult with core improvements in cutscenes, intro and outro sounds (Bizhawk). -

Wow, it's been such a long time since I saw the old movie, I had completely forgotten about the part where Luke stormed the Sand Crawler, massacred a bunch of Jawas and droids, and fought a hideous monster to save R2-D2.
TripleHate33 the worm thing reminded me of the movie Dune
Dune had actually came out before Star Wars but did not get made into a feature film 10 years later.
TripleHate33 I played this game, and watched the movie also. All's I can say that,is the games' own storyline was written a
little different than the movie. Now,that's very strange when George Lucas could've written both with the same storyline.
Another strange thing is,George Lucas seems to have written the trilogies backwards."Episodes 4,5,& 6" first. Then
"Episodes 1,2,& 3" next. Now the one George Lucas worked with is writing "7,8,& 9". And also,a movie known as
"Rogue One", that reveals a Back Story of A New Hope has been made. Gosh...Star Wars has become a very well
loved franchise!!
Lol only place you find killer gonk droids that shoot you as well. And yes the jawas just happened to keep a hideous lava beast in their smelting pit (I’m been charitable with the smelting pit, as I think it’s just a random pool of lava that’s there just cos...)
Luke killing jawas I would have loved to see 🤣
Thanks to modern technology I am finally able to see the end of this god forbidden game!
I had the cheat codes back in the day. It was darn near impossible!
I rented this back in the 90’s and couldn’t get much further past the 6 minute mark in the video lol
Makes you wonder if mark hammil skipped puberty on purpose doesent it
@@BrettHollandTheJourney same! i always give Up n quit on da second stage
@Rene Darwin this comment gives me big deja vu.
Happy 45th anniversary to the movie.
Happy 30th anniversary to this game.
Yeah;
*Super Star Wars:* 2× Point Bonus
*Any Lego Star Wars game:* Double Score Zone
(Rhythmic beeping in both cases)
How long before they changed the name of those areas? Lol!
May The Force Be With You!
Climbing that goddamn sandcrawler was the bane of my existence back then
I love watching these videos of old games, because they evoke an almost "sixth sense". A sense that really brings back all sorts of thoughts, feelings, memories, and sensations of when I was young in the 90's. This reminds me of how relaxing and stress-free childhood was... saturday morning cartoons, trips to toys r us, watching basketball NBA games on a hot lazy sunday afternoon with my family... days we can't get back..
This video in particular reminds me of when I was starting to get into star wars... I was obsessed with R2D2.. loved him. Just the calmness of an old galaxy in the middle of no where in the desert.. great times.
Luke's exact words "Who would slaughter jawas?" You Luke you are slaugthering them!!
And yet I always took a perverse pleasure in slaughtering Jawas in this game.
Messed up, it is.
just like his father
@@ShiftyGuy777 Sand people =/= Jawas, though little Anakin probably did a hit & run on every Jawa in sight while practicing pod racing.
@@patrickbrady5291 same here, along with the 3rd game.....I love how they fly 300 feet off of the screen with each death while shouting Utiniiiiiiiiii! they are some nasty little freaks... lobbing grenades, etc.
My favorite scene in A New Hope has always been where Luke goes to the Mos Eisley bar and blasts the hell out of everything.
Wha?
Definitely one of the classic, nostalgic Star Wars moments for me as well. :)
Best scene :-D
That's a good scene but nothing beats the part where he shoots the shit out of the sandcrawler and kills all the jawas.
"Sorry about the mess."
"Be careful for the Empire might Strike Back!" Ah, the benefit of hindsight.
Russia?
My favourite moment in the movie : 5:40 Luke is enjoying a good bottle of wine all by himself in the desert, when suddenly, C3PO creeps up on him and asks for help.
that's Cerveza Cristal
"And these blast points! Too accurate for sand people. Only Imperial stormtroopers are so precise."
"Uh...actually, that was me, Obi-Wan. I had to fight my way through the sandcrawler to defeat the Lava Beast Jawenko."
Every Star Wars fan knows that the words "Stormtrooper" and "precise" should NOT be used in the same sentence. lol
@@jbFromNYC continuity error much?
@@jbFromNYC Unless you remember that the Stormtroopers in the opening scene gunned down quite a few Rebels.
@@LightStreak567 No, because at the start of the film, the Stormtroopers successfully shot down several Rebels.
@@ignaciocue I'm surprised you noticed that.
This is so nostalgic. It takes me back to the times before the prequels when Star Wars was still shrouded in mystery and excitement.
the prequels ruined Star Wars
@@tunkunrunk No they didn’t. Disney did.
Fun Fact: The boss fight at 23:39 was actually the same creature R2-D2 used to beat Chewbacca, resulting in that famous scene about how Wookies are known for pulling people's arms out of their sockets when they lose.
This game taught my generation tolerance to frustration: you don't beat this game; you learn how to dominate it, which takes time and lots of dying!
It's like in Sonic 2, you don't immediately rush to the Death Egg, you immediately rush Super Sonic to make the first playthrough where you beat the game the easiest possible.
2:17 gameplay starts dune sea
5:29 find sand crawler
6:53 outside sand crawler
9:03 inside sand crawler
12:41 land of the Sandpeople
15:08 land of the Banthas
18:00 get to Mos Eisley
19:51 Mos Eisley
22:13 cantina fight
24:27 escape from Mos Eisley
28:09 Death Star hanger bay
32:07 rescue of the Princess
34:54 tractor beam core
38:21 assault on the Death Star
42:51 end of game
This was a game from my childhood. Used to spend summer days playing it consistently. Because it didn't have passwords like the other 2 Super Star Wars games, you had to memorize the early levels and get better at rushing through them. There was a bit of trial and error involved with reaching the later levels before you got tired and had to shut the SNES off. There's a couple hard parts before you get to the lightsaber and find the trick where you can get to 99 lives with the secret cave, after that the rest of the game gets much harder. I remember beating it when I was 16 and what a feeling that was to finish this game after so much trial and error and memorizing the levels. This was the kind of difficult game that was rewarding and a real challenge to master and beat.
This is brand new this year of 1993.
The force was really strong with this game damn it was hard without mercy but still awesome game
Aviation Technology Space Channel totally agree 🙂

i cant even beat it even with game genie codes
Wait is it that hard ? I beat the game as a kid on multiple occasions, I thought most people beat it too.
This game is like Super Ghouls N Ghosts; every inch of the game is a battle. I used to rent this game when it came out and I loved it even though it is brutally hard.
Best snes game ever! I remember beating this game all on my own, I was about 10 years old!
Took me a long time to beat it myself; I've always had trouble with the last stretch of the sandcrawler level, jumping to the platforms, always ending up in the lava and having to restart from the automated last saved position...
Jose Martinez you must have had some awful games if Super Star Wars was the best SNES game in your opinion.
Reploid not really. I had a bunch of snes games, more than my neighbors. Other than Star Fox, Mario kart, and killer instinct, I’m a huge Star Wars fan and this was my favorite.
Far from that
this one, and Super Return of the Jedi are both in my top 20 snes games. they are freakin great, and a lot of fun. both are very beatable on easy. Super Empire Strikes back however, is way way harder than those 2, but i've beat it as well on easy. so hard, but a lot of fun, and also a great game. hell of a trilogy. best star wars games ever in my opinion
Frickin loved this game... ugh. So much nostalgia. It reminds me of my early days in the early 1990s first discovering Star Wars.
While it wasn't my introduction to Star Wars, it did make me gain enough interest to watch the movie, and I became a fan ever since. Thank You, JVC, LucasArts, Sculptured Software and Nintendo for making such a fantastic game!
I dont like star wars but there is some really good star wars video games.
For those of you having problems with this game there is a trick to easily farm 99 lives. The catch is you have to make it to level 5 where you fight the sand people and meet Obi-Wan. When you make it to the second floating rock section jump into pit while hugging the left side of the cliff. You will find a hidden cave. Shoot all over the place in this cave to make a bunch of lives appear. Then jump into the pit to lose a life and respawn. The checkpoint is right at the top of this cliff so you can immediately repeat the process over again until you max out your lives count. I did this and made beating the game a lot less frustrating since I had as many chances as needed to learn the levels.
I can't even make it past the lava boss
i haven't managed to find anyone anywhere mention about the max weapon at the very beginning of the game. don't head right, head left and you farm the scorpions over and over and keep getting weapon boosts. you can get the lightsaber before even starting the game proper. i'm legitimately shocked i havent found a single mention of this.
I've tried the strategy before and the catch is that you have to kill the banthas with your blaster, which is a pain in the ass (you'd be dying a lot).
So many anxious memories flood back when I hear the music and sounds from this game
I remember being BLOWN AWAY at the beautiful graphics- I loved how when you were in the land speeder the town would get bigger.
I don’t remember this ever happening on Mos Eisley:
Storm Trooper: May we see your identification please?
Obi Wan about to use the force: You don’t need to- *Luke jumps out of landspeeder and slices the fuck out of every storm trooper on Mos Eisley* .......Never mind then.
Must be in the Very Special Edition
R.I.P LucasArts
Great job murdering the franchise, disney. See if I ever forgive you for that.
Bad idea give the rights to EA...
The good ol' days of Star Wars. But SW is dead to me now.
RIP Star Wars...
EA also rushed bet on releases masterpiece like "incomplete" game, Alice II: Madness Return despite long quality developing in process.
Holy shit, this game is way more badass than the original movie
-Luke's first major action, rather than bitching about staying on another harvest, is to kill a Sarlacc single-handed.
-The Jawas are zealots of the evil technophagous god Jawenko, who dwells inside the mobile sandcrawler fortress and spews lava for his defense
-Obi-wan is actively hiding in a cave from the sand people and their explosive Banthas
-Luke gains Han's respect by just slaughtering every guy in the bar who looks at him wrong, including the giant monster they keep as a bouncer
-Mos Eisley has a secret killer robot factory under its surface, and there is no way to get to Docking Bay 94 except through it
-The Falcon willingly diverts to the Death Star because SNES Han has balls the size of mangoes
-Chewie straightup jumps over like 50 TIE fighters until they run out of them in the hangar
-The most common defensive measure on the detention level are crushers, meaning Han trekked through miles of pureed Bothan to get his slampiece out
-Rather than swinging just one piss-poor chasm, Luke and presumably Leia make an unassisted multi-thousand-foot climb up the Death Star interior to shut off the tractor beam themselves by shooting it until it breaks
-Obi-wan doesn't visibly die, meaning he might still be wrecking shit on the Death Star when it blows up
-Luke's X-wing is the only one we see at the Death Star, meaning he took on the entire Imperial defense grid alone and won
I wish this was the movie I'd seen growing up.
ur strange
I wish to see that in the next Special Edition, alongside with landspeeder crashing into Greedo in Mos Eisley and Darth Vader saying "Luke, I am your father, and I am also a FUCKING SCORPION"
Yerzhan Yelekeshov dumbass....you blatantly copied that from AVGN
DAMN SON you forgot to mention Vader swoops right in front of Luke in the trench run and literally Luke takes on point blank range blaster fire from Vader's tie fighter and survives.
This be the true tale of the Star Wars. Disney, take note how to create true interplanetary badasses.
I remember I used to love playing this game so many great memories
Oh wow, I totally used to love this game!
Herb Toker oddly,,as much as I've played this game as a kid,it wasn't an easy one to play. Almost looks as if this
long play video could've been tool assisted. When I played Super Star Wars,Empire, and Return of the Jedi,it
always required a vast level of concentration,or else I'd lose... surely, none of my characters were invincible.
As a 32 year old who recently found a cart of this game, I can verify: It's still hard as fuck haha.
31:15 That droid looks like an ED-209 from Robocop.
Torey White
The name was "Imperial Defense Droid".
That boss is not canon. Why in the world would they put ED-209 in a Star Wars game?
IKR. I said the same thing.
Drop your weapon. You have 20 seconds to comply.
The Jazz King yeah we all know what happened next! Maybe OCP got the design from the empire
lol drop your weapon
You are the envy of every single player who had to replay this for days just to beat it.
"Jawenko" looks like it belongs in a Metroid game.
Kraid's inbred cousin, you mean?
I remember beating him after much hardship and then falling in the lava afterwards I was so furious
“Oh dee dee!”
It's "Mutini" ._.
Utini!!!!!
dingdongdirtbag Houdini!
@@saint_squared525 sashimi
I LOVED this game...and then Empire Strikes Back came out and it was like, I didn't know it could get any better!
To this day, these games still hold up and are true to the original films.
I don’t recall Luke fighting a Sarlacc worm, fighting jawas, and rescuing R2, man I need a directors cut of lost hope
As long as you remember Luke fighting a lava monster inside a sandcrawler, I'd say you're good.
I like how the sandcrawler has all kinds of random things that shoot lasers for absolutely no reason lol.
Omg the music and sound effects are incredible for this game!
used to love playing this game on snes so many great memories from my childhood in the 90s
What is most amazing and I was personally amazed at is the fact that this boy after he killed many bandits and went away into the desert and then suddenly he met a grandfather with an intelligent face completely unscathed 0_O
When i was a kid i could never get to the sand crawler. Thanks for uploading this
My man, you are off the hook on this! Very impressive 👍
awesome, dude. Thank's for bring me back
There are very few things in life that can replicate the joy and laughter brought about by blasting Jawas and watching them fly off screen while saying “ooteedee.”
Omg this game so many memories
Great memories gonna find this game again
Incredible never knew this exsisted, gameplay & music badass
Gotta love how one of the stages is literally just about Luke hunting down and murdering a certain number of Jawas.
This is the only good memories I have off my Father was me and him sitting playing this.
best star wars video game ever , it has the real star wars spirit and atmosphere , the sound quality was amazing
Wow that was awesome, I used to play this game when I was 16, you are a true jedi, amazing gameplay!
OMG! Im about to cry :) this took me to my childhood memories
Thanks for this walktrough. Flying part looks better than SW Squadrons, and my lovely "celebration" part from film!
I used to love this game back in the day!!!
I LOVE this one! Han Solo, you rock!
I love the lightsaber moves with the white swish effect! It's looks anime to me
I still remember this as the toughest game I ever played growing up. I could rarely get past the cantina brawl, and never got to the death star. I was pretty stubborn as a six year old, but I eventually gave up.
This is one of many games I could beat as a kid but not as an adult.
This game has some really great sprite work, music, and is a work of art. Easily one of my favorite games in the SNES library along with Return and Empire. They all really piss me off though, this one especially.
I always loved the Mode7 sequences!!!
Exploding Banthas, gotta love 'em!
my mother got me this game because she knew I loved Star Wars. I was a young SGT. in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and after work I would spend hours playing this game to unwind from all the violence. Its funny what a video on CZcams can help you remember.
Great shot, kid! That was one in a million!
I played this game all the time back in the day! It gave me anxiety but dammit I loved the sounds and level designs!
one of my fave SNES gsmes
Looks amazing.
Player is a accurate precise and calm! Especially on the edges that tend to make us twerk out thinking we shall fall lol. Good playing.
Awesome run!
Prehistory of video games hurted the eyes A LOT!
What a great game. It looks like a fun one to enter into my collection.
Gameplay was just brutal. So needlessly difficult. Legend has it no one has ever made it to the top of that sandcrawler...Terrific graphics and sound/music though! Nostalgia abound...
I remember my dad going to the US (we're from India) in the 90's for a conference and he bought this game, not knowing that what we had at home was an NES (clone) system.
The game cartridge is still in its original box with the manual booklet and by the time getting an SNES system was feasable, most were simply playing ripped ROMs on emulators on PCs.
When i Saw your death star trench gameplay, i felt that the force is strong in you
really enjoyed this! Lava beast! lol Mutant wamprat hehe
wow, the snes star wars games have some awesome graphics, and flawless sound(sounds just like star wars) people forget these when it comes to snes's run n gun catagory. the 2 turrican games as well
Happy 45th anniversary to Star Wars
May the Force Be With You
I quit video games after I beat this one back in the day. I realized you spent 1/3 of your life sleeping and other 2/3 playing video games not including , eating going to the bathroom, showering, stuck in traffic, working , so I decided to live.
I remember perfectly getting the Super Nintendo system, then getting Super Star Wars and Super Empire Strikes Back! Empire was my fave!!
some good times, my friends and i playing the super star wars trilogy games.
This game rocked!
My best friend made this game look easy. But when the controller was in my hands...🙄
Before the dark times. Before Disney. Brings back a lot of good memories.
Tony Levin Carrot: 🥕🎸
I remember when people used to say the Prequels were the dark times.
42:08
Obi-Wan: Use the force, Luke.
Epicness!!!!!!
42:00 Pew pew pew, get lost, Darth Vader. Pew pew! :D
Btw, Vader's helmet fading in during credits was a nice touch.
Definitely a classic game. The game was so hard to beat! I had to use the game shark cheat code cartridge to beat the game. Still loved playing it.
Love this game
The Jawa sounds on SNES are impressive
I like to picture one of those guys drinking around 23:40 just getting up to go use the bathroom while all this is going on, he's trying to get by this huge fight Luke is having and he's like "ope, scuse me just gonna SNEAK past ya there"🤣 and then there's someone at the bar like "what is your soup of the day?"
A Super Star Wars series based on the Prequel trilogy should be a thing.
A mode 7 pod race.... Someone needs to make it happen
Yes...
Episode I would probably have Obi-Wan and Padme as playable characters, with the former using his lightsaber and force powers while the latter uses her blaster to deal with enemies.
In Episode II, Anakin, Padme, and Obi-Wan are all playable, with some levels giving players the ability to choose which character they want to play as.
And in Episode III, Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Master Yoda would be playable, with each having unique Force powers.
A mode 7 Air speeder someone needs to make it happen
Qui gon obi wan and jar jar are playable characters
With some levels giving players whatever character they choose to play as
I don't know how I maintained my composure with this game, it pushed me to my boiling point so much I swear I was about to smash the controller and TV.
Graphics and music were impeccable for the time
Great memories
Wow, they did the whole opening crawl. That's kind of impressive.
The good old time !!! Endless nostalgy... I spent more than 100 hours on this game
By the way, WHAT A FUCKING GOOD GAMING YOU DID PAL !! Almost never been hit on the "Jedi" difficulty level ! This is just amazing
Played on Jedi? Damn. You made it all look so easy! xD
God, I remember this so vividly. I must have been 3 or 4 years old playing this. No save points and when you die thats it. God life was rough lol
If you remember it VIVIDLY you must have been way older than 3.
Super Star Wars was re-released in November 1996 as part of Nintendo's Player's Choice series. In February 1997 in order to coincide with the "Special Edition" of those films appearing in theaters. The game was re-released again in 1998. The re-release is identical to the original version.
Oohh yeeahh!! 😄 thanks for to upload 😄
this was my fave game too - quite hard. but interesting and what i liked was the weapon upgrade - i really liked the seeker gun
I just downloaded the 3 snes games on my MAC :)
Such a great game!!! And difficult -__-
So glad i can save in the middle of the stage lol
My favourite Star Wars game.
