    Thanks for continuing to share your experience. I’m at 8 weeks and just out of the boot. The stiffness is intense so it was a relief to hear your ROM got better over the next weeks. I’ll be on your site as I continue my journey to getting back to my sport. Thanks!

    i am at week 10 and still in cast. will be out in week 11 and the rehab will start post that. i am able to move around without crutches or any help. i dont want to test my luck, so i dont do anything that gives me the slightest pain as of now. since your an Olympic athlete, i will use your recovery and timelines as a guideline for my progress once the cast is off. i feel scared of any further injury during rehab/ or later that will set back my progress by a few weeks/ months. so i will take it slow and easy, but consistent.

      Hey! Thanks for sharing a little bit of your journey. How exciting that you'll soon be out of your cast! I wish you the best of success in your recovery and I hope these videos can act as a guide; but equally I hope you have a good physiotherapist delivering your personalised program. Blessings. Hello. This is very encouraging and uplifting. I ruptured my achilles tendon back in September here in Nigeria. Thinking about the poor health care system here and the possibility of never regaining my explosiveness at the age of 22 began to drive me into depression. Thank you so much for this

      I'm so sorry you ruptured your Achilles tendon and that health care support isn't as good as it can be in Nigeria. I'm so grateful you've found encouragement through these videos and I pray for a full, complete recovery for you! Any questions, I'm here.

      @@airozuru Thank you so much. I have a question regarding your recovery. I’ve seen many videos of physios warning against one healing long. Most of them say that one shouldn’t stretch the achilles within the first 12 weeks as it is still healing at this point and if it is stretched, it heals long and wouldn’t be short enough when you need it to be and therefore wouldn’t generate enough power when jumping or running. What was your experience on this because it seems you did some stretching in the first 12 weeks

    • @airozuru
      @airozuru  Před 9 měsíci

      @@user-pm3is8us8i Thanks for the question! I haven't had issues with it healing long. We didn't start light stretching until week 6 onwards, I believe. And even then, that wasn't intense stretching. So that meant it hasn't healed too long. I think just being aware not to overdo anything really helped. But also my physio works specifically in high performance sport, so his advise will probably be different to a hospital physiotherapist who doesn't work with athletes. I hope that helps.

    Love your video if comforts me.
    I tore my Achilles a month ago and I’m on week 5 post op.
    My foot still feels a little numb and it’s swollen. Did that happen to you?😊

    • @airozuru
      @airozuru  Před rokem

      Firstly, I'm sorry you've torn your achilles. But I'm grateful this video has been comforting and you are now on your recovery journey. I know being in a cast is quite uncomfortable so if you feel numbness, check with your doctor and surgeon at your next appointment to see everything is healing well. It is probably a normal part of the healing process, but I can't remember, so it's always best to ask your doctor :)

    Hey, did you wear anything under your boot to help with it getting all sweaty when your training other body parts. I’m trying to get back in the gym to do some upper body work but the boot liner gets sweaty fairly quick. Trying to avoid having to wash the liner every night if possible…..a sock is the obvious answer but thought I would ask anyway 🤣

    • @airozuru
      @airozuru  Před rokem +1

      Haha that's such a good question! My honest answer is I really can't remember! I'm not somebody who gets supremely sweaty, though so I may not have had to deal with that issue. Probably wearing long socks will save you the hassle of a nightly wash of your liner, though so that's a good shout!
