i have used water, oil spit.... the best of the best was WD-40 its insane how well it works, and after sharpening you dont need to clean the stone,you wipe and its clean, its insane how well wd40 repells steel out.
How are you keeping the wd-40 off your hands? Checking burr with fingertips I would imagine a lot of skin contact 🤔

Good point.
On my diamond plates, I use baby oil. It keeps the steel particles in suspension well, it's easy to wipe off and it's safe to have on your hands for prolonged time.
I think that the way you describe the surface of the diamond stone is probably the best way I can think of

Use oleic acid!!! Really it they work much better and you'll slow down the loading by 10fold ,witch leads to less resurfacing witch leads to longer lifespan🙏 With oleic acid you wipe them CLEAN..I used soapy water but than i came across the post on forum where in Russia and they mostly use oil so i tried it and men does it make the difference..Not only it slows down the loading but the feedback it'll give is amazing🙏
Yeah i heard they use oil thats what made me start using the soapy water, i have the dragon series now and im loving them, i have the low and high grts, thanks for the tips 👊

Jared for heavens sake use a Silicon carbide abrasive 320 grit ICW a dremel for those calluses

I now have the dragon series venevs, along with many others they are my favorite Sharpening stones by far, whether I'm freehanding or using a fixed angled system, I like to combine them with an atoma 140 when reprofiling

@@Resolute900 dragons are venev, it's their biggest and thickest version, so they are the longest lasting, if your getting stones for a fixed angle system you can get the same kind of stones just different size. But yes I highly recommend I have dozens of videos featuring venev stones and recommending. Now you don't have to get the dragons if your wanting the large freehand stones, you can get the more affordable ones they are just a bit thinner so they don't last as long

Hello so have a worksharp and bought a 4 inch holder. Have basic D2 steel knives, a Caastrom SFK10 in carbon steel and kitchen knives in x50CrMoV15. If I were to buy one, maybe two of the double sided dog stones which would you recommend?

I just ordered the 80 /120 to see if I can use it for thinning out the primary grind to thin out my edges I hope it works good for that
You should have gotten a diamond plate, these will doit but not as fast as a regular diamond plate but they will last a very very long time
12k vitrified diamond stone for polishing, even thinned it out
Great vid Jerad, what mix water to soap do you use, and what soap, I use my Venevs dry but want to try and make them last as long as possible
I use dish soap, like dawn but generic, and i dont have a perfect mix i put some in a bottle with water and shake it, if the sound of water going back and forth goes away from the bubbles then its good
I mix Dawn in a spray bottle to a light blue tint and it works great for me.

i just barely got my same finger tonight on the UF the exact same way i got lucky it only took up a slice with out blood hahaha. i want these stones bad but those bad boys are upwards of 180 for those sweet 2mm dbl sided benchs
They definitely are not cheap but compared to the life of other stones its well worth the $

I use a bunch if different diamond plates. Ultrasharp are the best on a budget, atoma are the best overall, but resin bonded diamond stones are the best ever

I'm constantly fighting burs & I hate stropping. Through the loop; both look great IMO, But love the finer while still having scratch/byte, amazebawlz to be. I prefer all my shit laid back 17d - on most, some tooling I go 20 25 and even 30 if I have to, I do hAVE ONE HIGHEr AND HATE IT ((oops)caps)) I have a prob w/ always wanting to go higher in grits than i should per particular steels... I want higher grit diamond and lower grit ceramics, like seriously would benefit me. I am so fkn tired of wearing out diamonds (DMT being the worst POS) ,,, I like Simple green ((dont remember the ratio)) for the bigger plates. I wish I could find something that would work with ceramics..
You would probably love these stones because they are the higher grt diamond that you want, and they last for a long long time

Oh definitely, venev just sent me some new stones and i have a video im working now, hopefully il have it up tomorrow but yes, they are really good stones some of the best imho

As good as they are, they are a tough sell as cheaper plates work well too. Now, if my budget had a much higher limit...
Yeah i kinda thought that, but when you look at how long they last and the low maintenance, a spyderco ceramic is around the same price, but these work better imo, but yes you can definitely sharpen a knife for much cheaper
Yeah sure even cheaper stones works but they'll never give you the same performance as these give you..These are the most affordable bonded stones on the market and obviously you never tryid them cause if you would ,you wouldn't be bitching about the price!!! These are not for ppl who have couple of crapy knives but for true knife enthusiasts who understand that investing in quality stones will safe tons of time, will make sharpening true joy, will outlast the cheap stones many times over!!! Jarod basicly said it all!!!
After looking at their website for their KME stones specifically, they say not to use them with the KME diamonds because they would not be able to get the deep scratches out. May you please test that out with some of your diamond stones? I think that it's a little weird how diamond wouldn't be able to work with diamond.
Hhhmmn ive definitely used them after using diamond plates and they worked just fine, not sure why they would say that it actually worked great
@@NeevesKnives It's probably because of the "jump" between grits, like you said, the 1200 stone feels like 3k. I don't know too much about moving grits, but I would imagine that moving from a lower grit to an extremely high grit too quickly isn't the best of options.
Edit: The KME stones finish at 1500 if that matters at all
@@MrSATism depends on the kind of stones i know kme has many different stones from diamonds to aluminum oxide, to cbn or bonded, but you definitely want to do a good progression, 300, 600, 1200, 2000, 5000, so on and so forth, the lower grts you want a smaller progression as you go higher you can jump up higher in you progression
