- The Skye Trail on the Isle of Skye, Scotland has to be one of the best trails in the world! Starting at the northern most tip of the worlds most beautiful Island (I may be biased ;)) we set out to trek the length of the Island and hope to finish at the southern most tip - top to tail, however the trail had a few surprises in store as we made our way south.
NB - I discovered when I got back my microphone had failed to record on the last day so apologies about some of the latter sound....

Wonderful, thanks, and without ads breaking up the flow every few minutes, unlike some channels. Much appreciated. Glorious.
I try and not have any ads in the middle of videos but I know CZcams have started placing ads in videos themselves which can be irritating! some of my older videos never had any and in the last year YT have added loads without me knowing - a bit frustrating (especially for the viewers!!)

@@ScotlandsMountains Thank you for your reply Murray. I've heard from other people who's videos have had adverts added to them and they are as unhappy about it as you are! One person had not monetized his channel deliberately but CZcams told him he had to, and if he didn't they would add them anyway! Thank you for all of your efforts. Your videos lift the spirits of those who can't get to where you go and those who have been and are reminded of these magnificent locations. The one you did above the clouds of the inversion was special.
Ideal, the wind has picked up and I can't sleep in the tent. 😁

Gorgeous! I have the Isle of Skye on my bucket list if I can get back to Scotland again. My kin lives in Ayr area and look out at Arran which I visited when I was wee. Skye is magical.

Thanks Murray for an excellent watch with my 2 favourite Vloggers. The Isle of Syke is a firm favourite of mine so it was great to see areas I have not yet been to.
What a great couple of films. Brought back many memories for me. In 2001 (year of Foot & mouth epidemic), I did South to North, starting at Armadale, roughly following David Paterson's "Long Walk in Skye" route with some variations of my own. (I noticed his book on your desk). I went across Sleat from Ardvasar to Dalavil then followed coast round Loch Eishort and Slapin, over to Camasunary and up Glen Sligachan with cutoff to Loch Coruisk. Along Loch Sligachan to Portree. Never made Trotternish Ridge so was great to see your film, which confirmed that would not have had enough days left. A trip never forgotten. Thanks for all your efforts in making this film.
Thanks Don, it was indeed "a long walk on the isle of skye" by David Paterson - I was meaning to mention it when I did the bit to camera , but forgot - so well noticed! Such a lovely book. The one one thing that beat us was the underfoot conditions on the Sleat peninsula - maybe one day I'll go back and try again :)

The second episode as good, if not better, than the first. It brought back many memories of days walking on Skye. You had superb weather which made me quite jealous but you also had the midge which made me less so. And, no, you aren't imagining anything when you say you can hear the blighters landing on the tent. Horrible knowing they are out there! I now have a midge net for my head which has proved its worth on Skye a few times.
These videos have made me very "holiday-sick" for the island (I can't wait to visit again) and for that I say a hearty thank you.
Brilliant film, great to watch and thanks for having the skills and patience to film and edit your adventures. My household thoroughly enjoy watching them all.

What an adventure & stunning last 3 days you guys got. South of Skye looks beautiful too. Looked good on the big screen Murray. Finally finished it. We got a new rescue pup & she likes to bark at the TV. Barked alot watching this but she's calmed down abit now 🤭😁
Great to hear you have got a rescue puppy Kev - we did the same a few years ago and got a rescue dog(our first dog) and its been wonderful - infact I would go as far to say having the dog is superbos !;)

The coastal scenery towards the end is beautiful but I wouldn’t want to walk along that road Murray. The section with the views of the Cuillin Ridge was fantastic almost on a par with the Alps. This feature length episode has been epic. Cheers and ATB Murray and Tom.

Thanks SC, I was a bit concerned about the Van (hence wheel lock etc etc !) , however as you probably saw, it worked out perfectly to allow us a wee bit of luxury in the camper van in the middle of the trip. Skye is such a wonderful place , I am a little jealous of your location :)

Done Sgurr Na Stri back in May this year from Sligachan, 10 hour round trip so this video brought back good memories especially as we had been locked down for months prior. That beach at the end, stunning… will have to pay a visit. Brilliant set of videos and will be watching them again for sure. Cheers Murray

Who needs the Fairy Pools when you have the turquoise shallows of Loch Coruisk? This hike is definitely going on my bucket list. I loved the photography, especially the footage of the Bad Step near Loch Coruisk - it was good to be able to see the type of terrain clearly, without fish-eye lens distortion. Also very important advice about the backpack. I once took a spectacular tumble on the Rum Cuillin due to overbalancing while wearing a badly-fitting backpack, not a mistake I'll ever make again! Miraculously I got away without any injuries.
Its an amazing place and that we pool was spectacular - well worth a visit :)

Absolutely wonderful trip.....Skye. no idea if its the most beautiful island but its definitely got some sort of X factor. Been there 6 times, both climbing and touring once with the wife. That Sgurr na Stri peninsula is surely one of the most special places. Did the bad step and then round to scramble the front of Sgurr na Stri ( great little climb ) . Thanks again....superb visuals. I was on Knoydart and Rum end Aug first week of September and it sure was glorious. 👌 made great fish for sure

Murray, you are half right and half wrong! In the Northern Hemisphere Skye is certainly my most beautiful Island. I've been there many times and traversed the full ridge. But South of the Equator lies the South Island of New Zealand. I've spent many months in Scotland, and the Cuillin are gloriously special. Skye was a wonder (before the bridge, especially). You need to spend a bit of time on the South Island of New Zealand, a place I came to nearly 35 years ago. Scotland on steriods as they say.... You would love it! :)

Just the 2 mugs of tea & some celebration sweeties got me to the end! 😂 Magical watch, the camp spot after the bad step day looked so, so special. I’m sure I was in Kintail that week and had the same weather. Happy New Year when it comes. 👍🥃
