- This video shows the install and testing of the new Garmin GHA 15. For our TSi customers we have a quick installation kit that will make this process much easier. For those who are not our TSi customers or have other aircraft such as Van's RV, we can also help you with many of the same items. Give us a call for more information. (810) 356-3855

I really liked how the moment between 1 foot and the chirp on the ground was nearly simultaneous...
Watching from Zimbabwe... Thanks Guys!
You guys are always coming up with great ideas for planes. Thank you for the video!!!!
Nice! I bet Jeff is happy with that. Thanks for the video showing both how it is installed and what it does.
You guys have the best coverage of all things Garmin...thanks!
Awesome!!
It sure looks like the wheels/tires would be in the 120 cone. I need to check my S-21, but I think any place between the gear legs is going to place the wheels within the cone.
hopefully when I'm sitting on reserve as a wide body captain, I'll finally have the time and money to build a sling TSI. These plans look so cool.
Great Job! Can you provide the STL file for the cone you 3D printed?
Is it possible to suppress it on the GDU? Or only with the discrete input?
Great video showing installation of the unit. what frequency band is this system operation on?
24 GHz well outside 5G.
Very nice! I couldn’t see from the video but does it display the RA on the PFD?
Yes, a box pops up under the altimeter tape showing the AGL.
Can you share a diagram of your new recommended location for the bottom com antenna when installing the GHA15?
We are working up documentation now. Send us an email.
Do you think they will have it for certified aircrafts in near future?
If I was a betting man, I would put my money on it.
How does it deal with uneven areas and obstacles (trees, buildings, etc.) ahead of the runway?
it only tells your current position relative to the ground below you.
I was wondering the same, so if there's trees at the approach end, does it sense the tops of the trees as height agl?
@@maverick758 yes.
It does indeed pick up the closest return.
Glassy water? anyone know of any results on that.
Though we have not tested it, radar altimeters do work over water. The biggest challenge will be mounting it where the floats do not pick up on it.
I love the idea of this, but I've seen a couple of examples of this, including right from Garmin. The distance to ground is not what the G3X is showing. Are there adjustments that can be made in the panel, or is it just more important to listen to the GHA-15? Going from 50 to 20 then10, 5, 3, 1.... Seems like a weird sequence. Just my initial opinion. I think I want one anyway. Great content as always! 👍
The AGL height is showing just below the altimeter tape.
The sequence is what you get, there are options for less call outs.
@@MidwestPanels What's the lead time on ordering one? And does it come complete with everything you need to install? The harness you showed doesn't look like it would reach the panel from the bottom middle of any plane.
@@dh-flies they are out to October right now. the harness we show in the video is for our Sling customers that have our tail harnesses in it and not intended for all airplanes.
We can assist you but we would need to know more about your plane.
@@MidwestPanels I own a Bristell. 912 IS, dual G3X, GTN 625.
safety glasses please
I think you just confirmed that this device isn’t really compatible with float-rigged aircraft.
Depending on the plane the floats could be an issue but if you can place it further back on the tail to clear them it may work.
I'm thinking of installing an antenna under the wing
Is there anyway to turn the volume down? Jesus that’s obnoxious
Yes there is volume control.
I truly enjoy your videos but I believe you do your company a horrible disservice by focusing on metal airframe (and Slings in particular) installations. How about those of us who fly fiberglass composite aircraft and refuse to accept antenna (and other) protrusions on the outside of our airframes?
