  • MASSIMO MB200 Re-jet equals more speed?
    Baselined the MB200 mini bike for top speed and zero to thirty and then Tuned and changed the carb jets to see if we could gain any performance.

    I have this frame. It's currently fitted with mostly stock internals 212 hemi minus a governor. I've only added an intake, header, 22lbs valve springs, and a go power sports stage 2 stock appearing carb. I've coupled the engine to an ebay 30 series torque converter but added a juggernaut and a nice rotary belt. Running a 10/60 420 sproket set on the stock 19in tires. The motor is old and tired, has the original spark plug in it, and was on this bike when I got it, a year ago! I've beat the hell out of it. She still manages to pull (in north central Florida) a constant and reliable 45mph! But now, I have a brand new predator 224 sitting on the bench....

      I don't usually do speed tests in the hood unless its a slow bike and doesn't need too much room to get up to speed. I have some nice flat areas that are out of the way that I go to for speed testing.

    Hey lemmie ask you a question. I recently changed out my stock cam for a mod 2 cam and added 18 pound springs and changed out the stock 50 tooth rear sprocket for a 44 tooth. Now I knew once i swapped sprockets it wouldn't have the same get up and go as it did with the 50 tooth but yesterday when i went to test drive it for the first time with the upgrades i did it took off really a lot slower than i expected. But not 100 percent sure the sprocket is the reason for it alone. I noticed i was leaking gas from the fuel line where i had clamped off the line at one point to remove the carb. The teeth to the locking pliers ripped the line so i wasn't able to floor it without it sputtering and wanting to stall out. Atleast i'm assuming that's why it was wanting to stall every time i tried to floor it ? I ordered new fuel line and it is on it's way in the mail but in the meantime i wrapped the ripped part of the fuel line with that white plumbers tape stuff in hopes it would atleast slow down the leaking enough for me to ride lol. Would a rip in the fuel line cause the engine to want to stall even if it is a slow leak ? Also the center bolt directly on bottom of carb bowl doesn't fully tighten anymore cause the threads got stripped so there was a leak coming from that bolt hole as well but i added an o-ring around that bolt to try and stop it from leaking. So that's really 2 seperate places that gas is leaking from and i basically slapped bandaids on the leaking spots in hopes it would temporarily last until my new carb comes in the mail. I'm hoping once new carb is installed it will run fine without the leaks. But yeah i just wanted to know if you think the engine wanting to stall could be from those fuel lieaks i mentioned or is it something else like i need to adjust the air/fuel ratio on the carb better or something else ? I want to feel the real power everybody talks about when putting in a better cam and springs etc but now my bikes slower than before i did the upgrades and that is disappointing lol.

      Literally same thing happened to me did a stage two flywheel rod cam and springs and lost like 4 miles per hour and I felt so lost went from a 50mph bike to a 46mph bike :(

    • @Black66
      @Black66  Před 2 lety +2

      Yes, fueling can cause it to run bad. if you modify these things and dont have the extra fuel to support the mods or the bikes can get slower. You have to have a tuned carburetor and header to go with that cam and you will feel the extra power. A smaller gear will usually get you more top speed, but if you are using to small of a gear the cam wont get into its optimal power band. Some can get away with a smaller sprocket because they are lighter weight, have lower profile tires etc. Watch the next Coleman CT200U video and you will see what I mean. Or the Next Mega Moto video. I add a bigger rear gear and actually go faster because the engines are more in their optimal power band with the new cam.

    Hey bud I have a question , I have a stock internal predator 212 with a vm22 and a exhaust , governor removed. I can’t get it past 42 , right now the needle is on position number two (from top to bottom) I’m assuming it’s a factory jet , I watched your vid on how to adjust the mix screw and then adjust idle bit it doesn’t even accelerate when adjusting the mixture screw. And on position three with the mixture screw all the way in it’s already at it highest , I turn it and it dies , like it’s being flooded . I’m assuming I would need a bigger jet correct ? My sons 196cc did react the way it’s supposed to , it’s on position two and I did adjust it out to richen the mixture and adjust idle after and it runs great , the 212 though is giving me issues ….any guidance is greatly appreciated

    • @Black66
      @Black66  Před 2 lety

      I would first make sure there is no leaks between the carb and intake. Sometimes They can look like they are in alighment from the outside but when you pull the carb off and look down the intake you can see thet the intake and carb are out of alignment sometimes. If that O ring isnt sealed between the carb and intake you will never be able to adjust that carb. One you know everything is sealed up and not leaking I would use a bigger jet. The 95 jet that comes with these carbs usually isnt big enough for the 212 unless you are at high elevation.

    • @Black66
      @Black66  Před 2 lety +2

      If your talking big bikes, I like the CT200U-EX for cruising around town. Small bikes, The Doodlebug is the most practical and easy to ride for me. Its about the right size ,not to big not to small. The Mega Moto 80 is the smoothest riding bike I have ,but it is stretched and has street tires. Its not so practical with the racing clutch and the lower handlebars. It could be a good cruiser if set up right.
