The condenser is charged which for average Joe to go buy it over the counter like they allow is bullshit and illegal by EPA standard considering in order for me to handle refrigerant I have to have an EPA certification that cost me money to even test for!

I am extremely confident diagnosing hot-side or refrigeration problems, however doing it in a tight kitchen with little to no access and a bunch of dummies all in the way makes it 10x harder than it should be. Just yesterday I was replacing a temp display on a reach in cooler and had a dumbass splash 350 degree fryer oil all down my arm. I could work on 2 identical units with the exact same issue, but the environment changes everything. Diagnosing whats wrong with a cooler in the back of a dollar general with access and no one around vs doing it in cramped kitchen is so different. I'm 4 years in and I'm starting to realize as an employee I can make the same money/more doing residental service calls. 80% would be bad capacitors/ contactors/ airflow issues(dirty coils, filters, ect.) not sure why im still doing this shit.

@@hexmask6587I'm 25 and I'll be ready to apply for my license this upcoming spring. If you don't like the idea of crawling underneath houses, on roofs, or attics, then stay far away. Creepy crawlies and insulation covering your body will become a norm. And if you can't take the heat well then it's going to be brutal because if you live in the south the attics can get up to 130 easily. I'd recommend doing installs first and then move on to service calls. It pays well and it's a satisfying job if you stick with it.
