The jail employees got in there and separated the women. I can't help wonder if the mistake that put the one woman in with 2 others wasn't really a mistake. It would have been so easy for him to simply write the whole thing off as a prank or say, "this is none of my business; the boy says it's personal, so I'll just call Jodi to pick him up. I'm sure it's just a rebellious, spoiled kid trying to get his mom & her friend into trouble..." but instead he took the time to take a closer look and kindly ask the boy what he needed.

This is exactly why people saying Ruby was brainwashed etc makes me really angry. Not only were there signs of abuse years before Jodi even met Ruby but if you look at Ruby's demeanor, body language and reactions in her initial "interview" it tells a very different story. She is cold/unemotional, calm, never once asking about her children or whether they are ok. The most interesting part of it is the way she "answers" their questions. She looks each of the detectives in the eyes for maybe 5 seconds-ish, first one, then the other and refuses to answer anything. She just stares down her nose at them. After a period of time where she just repeats this behaviour - eye contact with one, then the next while not saying a word - she then requests a lawyer in a somewhat vague way (something to the effect of "I think I will wait to speak to my lawyer") but goes back into her silence/weird eye contact thing when they try to clarify whether or not that was a genuine request for representation. It's very clear she enjoys the power that her silence gives her; her arrogance and narcissistic behaviour, coupled with the zero interest in the welfare of her children, to me (and this is just my layman's opinion) shows that she was not the unwitting follower people are making her out to be.
Jodi was equally as guilty, no doubt about that. The similarities between what happened to the Franke kids and the recollections of Jodi's nibling, Jesse (Jesse identifies as non-binary) are too much to be waived as coincidence.
I believe that these two women were toxic before they met, maybe Ruby would have gone on to do the same/similar acts without Jodi (I think she would have) but undoubtedly their meeting was a catylist that led to the worsening abuse of those poor children.

He (or even the judge- only decision is concurrent or consecutive) can't just decide to give them the sentence they want. The neighbor that called 911 mentioned there were issues at that (Jodi's) house...... Why isn't anyone talking about those known issues?

Exactly. IMO officials knew about this well before and only stepped in when they absolutely had to because outsiders (neighbors) and the press found out.

The neighbors said the children were always outside working in the hot sun. They thought that was strange. Apparently not strange enough to call CPS. 😠

I think the Mormon church helped a lot to shelter them and Lori vallow. A lot of things get swept under the rug or overlooked with that church and their breakoff groups.@@jennydiver100

I don’t think the neighbors in Jodi’s area were reporting things. There had been calls to Ruby’s house before. That’s probably part of the reason she moved all her kids into Jodi’s house. Probably Jodi’s neighbors had heard the yelling and screaming that was leading the monsters to look for even more secluded property in Arizona but never called authorities.

@@winterseagull I can’t imagine how scared and frustrated she felt. The cops said they’d go to the house and they KNEW the kids were in there but they wouldn’t answer the door so they just left!! Their excuse was they couldn’t get a judge to sign off on a search warrant.
When there are children’s lives in danger, you don’t need a search warrant!
If this hadn’t been a wealthy neighborhood in Springville UT you know they would’ve been busting down that door.

That young man was so brave to ask for help. He's gonna have a story to tell when he gets older. And the precious little girl..my heart breaks seeing her so jaded by her mother. Just yelling meanly at a child is tramatizing, I can't imagine what they went through. Prayers for both of them and their siblings.

I hope the state checks in on the kids from time to time. I apologize to the kids father for my skepticism. However prior to this abuse, Ruby employed strict and controversial parenting techniques that the kids father was seemingly complacent with. It's so easy to fall back into old routines. While I believe the kids will now be free of abuse, I pray they won't fall victim to bad parenting. It's hard to be a single dad, especially the extra time and love these kids will need after this. If he ever needs help/advice, there is a world of people ready to help. After what these kids went through, they deserve the world.

My guy, you are not wrong to compare it with concentration camp. My grandparents were concentration camp prisoners in Nazi Germany. Their whole lives changed after psychological, mental, emotional abuse they endured. My life as their grandchild was affected by their trauma.
These poor children will take whole their lives to recover, then their children and grandchildren will still bear residue of that abuse. These women deserve full 30 years each. Ruby was abusive beforehand, I don't believe a word of her teary eyed written plea. She's a great actress.

Ruby was abusing her children before she met Jodi! It was a perfect storm where two cruel individuals came together and enabled one another in their wickedness.
